June 11th, Monday …

Tengda Games …

Hu Xianbin and Min Jingchao were seriously thinking about the content of Repent and be Saved's new downloadable content, Eternal Fallen Samsara.

Ever since the meeting with Boss Pei last Monday, the designers of Tengda Games had been bursting with inspiration. They could not wait to turn the idea of this downloadable content into reality.

However, a week had passed. This state of bursting with inspiration had become a form of torture for everyone.

It was very uncomfortable because they had inspiration but could not start working on it immediately.

It was uncomfortable!

It was like an author who had clearly thought of a brilliant idea, but couldn't write it out immediately. Instead, he had to consider, polish, and perfect it repeatedly for as long as two months. He couldn't write a single word in the main text. Not everyone could endure this kind of torture.

It was the same for the designers in the games department.

They could only do some minor preparatory work, such as a simple idea of the game mechanism, minor repairs to some art resources, and so on.

However, they could not really plan for the project, design, official development, and so on.

As for why, Boss Pei did not explain it clearly. Everyone guessed that it was to let everyone accumulate inspiration and do a good job. They should not be anxious to succeed and not mess up this good idea.

Although this was understandable, it was still very uncomfortable.

Hu Xianbin and Min Jingchao were in a similar state.

Hu Xianbin had developed Mission and Choice previously. The game had stabilized after it was released. There were no plans for large-scale downloadable content or sequels. Thus, Hu Xianbin spent most of his time thinking about Eternal Fallen Samsara.

On Min Jingchao's side, GOG's various competition zones were about to hold the finals of the Spring Competition. The game version was already very stable and did not need to be updated for the time being.

Min Jingchao had nothing else to do and was very interested in the downloadable content of Eternal Fallen Samsara. Thus, he helped with the design and concept of the gameplay.

The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to create this downloadable content immediately.

Especially with such a unique combat mechanism, he felt that it would be quite fun to fight!

Of course, the premise was that it was in the hands of an expert.

However, Boss Pei's orders could not be violated. If Boss Pei said that they could not officially start developing it, they definitely could not.

Hu Xianbin said worriedly, "This feeling of being bursting with inspiration but not being able to officially develop it is too uncomfortable!

"Boss Pei asked us to wait two months before officially developing it. His intentions were good. He wanted us to accumulate more inspiration and prepare before starting production.

"But … do I need to wait for two months? This is too long! "

"Based on the volume of this downloadable content, two months should be enough to complete it. After all, the main scenes and monsters haven't changed much, and many of the art resources can be reused. Even if we include the time for testing and tuning, three months should be enough. "

"This doesn't make sense."

Min Jingchao nodded. "It does feel a little strange. This progress is a little too slow."

If Pei Qian had heard their conversation, he would have scoffed and said, 'What do you know?!'

This has nothing to do with procrastination?

Why did it have to be delayed by two months?

The main reason was that it was just in time for the settlement cycle!

Since the project and development of the previous game happened to be within the settlement cycle, it was fine to develop the game according to normal progress.

But Eternal Samsara's DLC was a little special?

It happened to be stuck at the end of the settlement cycle?

If they were to develop it now, they would need to develop it for three months to be safe.

It was just in time to delay the settlement.

That was why they decided to delay the development by two months to avoid the settlement cycle.

But Hu Xianbin and Min Jingchao didn't know this?

They felt that there was something fishy about this?

Considering the Tengda spirit interpretation principle of 'there must be a deeper meaning behind Boss Pei's unreasonable behavior', they naturally had questions.

Previously, they were bursting with inspiration and seriously thinking about the design plan. Thus, these questions were buried in their hearts for the time being.

But now?

They were almost done with the design plan?

They had a draft, but they couldn't write a formal design plan or start production.

In this torturous state where hundreds of claws were scratching at his heart, this question appeared once again, and it was difficult to ignore.

Both of them fell silent and thought about it.

Hu Xianbin frowned.

He said, "Are you saying that Boss Pei deliberately gave us so much free time?

Is he hinting that there are other things we can do by not letting us start working on Eternal Samsara's downloadable content? "

Min Jingchao nodded. "I think?

That's possible. "

"What other things could it be, then? Is there any job that can be completed in two months, and is even slightly related to Eternal Samsara? "Hu Xianbin thought hard.

However, there was still no clue.

Suddenly?

Min Jingchao had a flash of inspiration. "Eh?

I've got it!

"Can we create a new hero for GOG?"

"Two months is enough for us to create a new hero, and this new hero can use the combat mechanism in Eternal Samsara.

"Ever since the birth of the popular new hero, Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan, GOG has not had such a popular new hero for a long time.

"Although the reviews of the new heroes aren't bad and their balance is okay, there hasn't been a hero as popular as Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan."

"In these two months, we can design a new hero for GOG, 'Hell Suppressor', and accumulate inspiration for Eternal Samsara to prepare for the early stages.

"When the time comes, we can release the new hero, Hell Suppressor, and then do publicity for Eternal Samsara around this new hero. Wouldn't that be perfect?"

Hu Xianbin suddenly realized. "That's right, that makes a lot more sense!

"If Boss Pei has made up his mind for us to do something in these two months, this is probably it!"

The two of them considered for a while and felt that this was indeed the most likely option.

What's more, they had nothing to do now. Wouldn't it be good to create a new hero?

At first, Min Jingchao had planned to release the news of the new hero, Hell Suppressor, on the stage of the GPL Spring Competition. However, the two of them discussed it and decided not to.

The finals of the GPL Spring Competition was this weekend. It was a little late compared to the normal schedule of the Spring Competition. It was already June after all. Logically speaking, the Summer Competition was about to start.

However, this was mainly to take care of the time of the other zones.

Because the other divisions were established relatively late, the league tournament started relatively late. The time of the various zones was unified and the summer competition started at about the same time. That way, they could ensure that the summer competition schedule of the various zones would be completed by the time the second international invitational tournament was held.

Originally, the Spring Competition was a very good time to promote the new hero. However, there were two problems: First, it was definitely too late to make a promotional video in a week. It would be very boring if they only released text information without video information. Second, Boss Pei had requested that any information about the copyright development of the Inspiration Class should not be leaked for more than a month. Strictly speaking, this new hero should be considered a part of the copyright development.

Thus, the two of them gave up on this plan.

However, GOG's Summer Competition in the various zones around the world was about to start in a month or so.

They could announce the news of the new hero when the Summer Competition started!

Min Jingchao and Hu Xianbin were filled with motivation once they had a goal.

The inspiration they had accumulated for Eternal Fallen Samsara and the unique mechanism that they had finalized could be used on the design of GOG's new hero. They could work hard to develop a hero as popular as the Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan!

The design plan for the new hero came out very quickly with the cooperation of the two of them.

This was obviously thanks to the inspiration that Boss Pei's original idea had given them, as well as the accumulation of ideas and designs over the past week.

The new hero was called 'Hell Suppressor'. It was a physical assassin.

Its passive skill was' breath adjustment ', which was similar to the Aura Value mechanism in Eternal Fallen Samsara.

The Hell Suppressor did not have a mana bar or an energy bar. Instead, it had a stamina bar. Whether it was releasing skills or ordinary attacks, it would consume stamina.

In addition, there would be a circular halo effect under the feet of the Hell Suppressor. It would expand and shrink according to a certain frequency. This circle was the Aura Value. The expansion represented inhalation, and the contraction represented exhalation.

When the circle expanded to its maximum range, it would be the best state to attack or release skills. Frequent attacks under this condition would have the effect of breath adjustment. The Hell Suppressor's stamina would recover faster, its movement speed would increase slightly, and its chances of blocking would increase.

On the contrary, if an attack or skill was released at the wrong time, the Hell Suppressor would automatically adjust its breathing to adapt to the attack frequency. However, the side effect was that the Aura Value would gradually become chaotic.

The state of the Aura Value would be represented by the color of the halo under its feet. It was still the same as in Eternal Fallen Samsara. The initial color would be the regular white, the chaotic color would be yellow or even red, and the smooth Aura Value would be green.

If the halo under the Hell Suppressor's feet was green and its stamina bar was full, it would be best not to confront it head-on.

The Hell Suppressor's first and second skills were 'Perfect Parry' and 'Dodging Step'.

This mechanism corresponded to the mechanism in Eternal Fallen Samsara where the protagonist pushed the joystick to perfectly parry or dodge the enemy's attack.

There was a certain difference between these two skills.

Perfect Parry had a short cooldown, no displacement effect, and the stamina consumption wasn't high, but it had a certain chance of failure. It required the mouse pointer to point in the right direction and use the skill at the right time to trigger Perfect Parry, otherwise it would be an imperfect Parry or even a failed Parry.

Whether the Parry was perfect or not would affect the damage received by the hero, the change in Aura Value, stamina consumption, and the cooldown time of the skill.

Dodging Step's cooldown time was longer, it had a short distance displacement effect, and the stamina consumption was higher, but it was much easier to control than Parry, and it was more friendly to the enemy.

The difficulty of Parry could be divided into three types: the enemy hero's normal attacks were relatively easy to parry; the normal skills other than ultimate skills were a bit more difficult; the ultimate skills were the most difficult to parry, and success required not only skill, but also good luck.

Considering factors such as the swing time and flying speed of each hero's skill were all different, whether a Parry could be successful or not would be a great test of the player's reaction and control.

Once a Parry failed, it was equivalent to taking the skill with your face, and the consequences would be very serious.

These two skills, along with the setting of the Aura Value, were the key to whether the Hell Suppressor could show off.

The third skill was "Weapon Change". According to the setting, the Hell Suppressor was a Valkyrie, proficient in all kinds of weapons, so he could also freely switch between different weapon types.

Because it was not suitable to make it too complicated, Min Jingchao designed three weapon modes.

One was dual-wielding two-handed weapons. In this mode, the swing time of the attack would be longer, the attack distance would be larger, the attack power would be slightly increased, and the sweeping attack would have an AOE effect, but the attack speed would be significantly reduced.

The second was single-handed sword, in this mode, the attack distance, attack speed, and attack power were moderate, but there would be a slight increase in the effect of Parry.

The third was dual-wielding daggers, the attack distance was the shortest, the attack power was the lowest, but the attack frequency was extremely high, and when attacking the enemy from behind, it could produce an additional critical hit effect.

When choosing different weapon modes, the current state of the Aura Value and the influence of the equipment had to be considered. For example, if you wanted to go the Reaper Assassin Style, you could use a dagger with a high attack speed, and if you wanted to go the Half-Meat Warrior Style, you could use a two-handed weapon.

But you could not use one weapon to the end. In order to encourage players to change weapons, every time you changed weapons, there would be a short period of increased damage and a small increase in the success rate of Parry.

The setting was also very easy to explain: because using the same weapon for a long time would be seen through by the enemy, and changing weapons to a different attack pattern, the enemy would be caught off guard, and the damage could be increased.

The ultimate skill was "Valkyrie Awakening", which had both passive and active effects.

The passive effect was that when fighting with the enemy, each successful parry or attack could weaken the enemy's aura, manifested as a ring appearing under the enemy's feet, showing four colors: green, white, yellow, and red.

The more chaotic the enemy's aura, the slower the movement speed and the more damage the enemy would take. When the aura was in a red chaotic state and the enemy's HP was less than 8%, the Hell Suppressor's damage would directly trigger the kill effect.

But the premise was that the attack must be continued. If the enemy's aura value could not be suppressed, then the enemy's aura value would gradually improve until it became green again and disappeared.

In addition, there was another passive effect called Enchantment. When the player used Parry frequently but kept failing, and the number of deaths accumulated, the Hell Suppressor would enter Enchantment. At this time, the success rate of his Parry skill would increase, and there was even a certain chance of triggering the automatic Parry effect.

The active effect of the ultimate skill was to enter the Valkyrie Awakening state, greatly increasing the effect of weakening the enemy's aura, and the enemy's aura value would change slowly, and the kill rate would also increase to 12%. After killing a person, the effect would increase by a small amount of time. In other words, it was easier to harvest the battlefield.

But this kill effect was not a brainless kill, but one had to mess up the aura value to kill, so it was not too invincible.

In general, this was a hero that was extremely difficult to control.

Its game mechanics were very worth studying. If one could play it well, it would be a very strong choice whether it was in a solo fight or harvesting the battlefield.

But to play it well, the conditions were very harsh.

He needed to control his aura to attack or release skills. He needed to accurately release each parry skill according to the different skills of different heroes. He also needed to correctly choose to parry and dodge. He needed to think about what weapon he was going to use and how to match his equipment. He also needed to adapt to the rhythm of the three weapon modes. He also needed to correctly choose whether to split or join a team.

Playing it with an expert and playing with an amateur was not the same hero at all.

But what was interesting was that even if an amateur kept using this hero, he could use the Enchantment state to ensure his bottom line, so that this hero could still use the Parry effect to eat skills, unlike Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan, who became pure trash after a few times and only had happiness left.

And in terms of balance, this hero was completely different in high-end games and competitions compared to low-end games.

In low-end games, most people couldn't play it well, so there was no need to worry about him being too strong, and with the Enchantment mechanism, there was no need to worry about him being too bad.

In high-end games and competitions, the enemy could target and disrupt his aura value and weapon switching settings to respond. And although the Prison Keeper's Parry looked strong, if he failed to Parry, he could be instantly killed. High rewards came with high risks.

It was normal for professional players to not be able to show off, but if they did, the viewing value would definitely explode.

Min Jingchao even had a premonition that this hero, the Prison Keeper, might form a happy duo with Literary Genius of the Winds in the future, competing to see who was happier.

But no matter what, no matter how good the Prison Keeper was, it was still much more useful than Happy Ruan.

This could be considered the boundless merit of the designer!
