The fountain was built on top of the ground, so Angor could not see what was going on inside without jumping. Angor pushed himself off the ground and jumped into the air to observe the water from a high place.
There was not much water in the pool. There was only a thin layer of water vapor rising from it. The child's "pee" fell into the pool and created several white splashes that looked like ripples.
Angor didn't find anything unusual. The water looked normal. The bottom of the pool was made of white tiles. He could see the bottom of the pool at a glance. Angor circled to the other side of the pool and realized something was wrong.
On the side of the pee statue, there was something that looked like a doorknob extending from the base of the statue. Angor thought to himself. "Is it inside the base of the statue?"
With this question in mind, Angor flew to the base of the statue and pulled on the knob-like protrusion.
As the doorknob was pulled open, a hole about 1.5 meters tall and slightly higher than the water level appeared in front of Angor's eyes. There was no light in the hole. Angor turned on his flashlight and saw a staircase.
Angor's eyes suddenly widened!
There was a staircase, but it was not going down. It was going up!
Imagine a small staircase at the base of a statue. The staircase was going up, which meant there should be a way up. However, Angor circled around the statue several times and found nothing. There was not even a single obstacle. That was strange. The path seemed to be built out of thin air and extended to an unknown space. It was like the legendary path to heaven. It did not appear on the surface and reached the other side of the world.
Angor, who believed in science under Jon's tutelage, would be dumbfounded right now. However, after studying in Sunders' library, Angor now had his own understanding of certain mysteries.
"Maybe this is some kind of spatial technology, like a passage between planes?" Angor pondered.
Angor looked at the unknown passage and wondered if he should go in.
He finally found a passage, so of course he wanted to go in and check it out. But he was alone now. Who knew if this passage led to the outside world? If he stepped in, he might miss meeting his mentor.
But if he did not go inside, he would feel itchy again. He learned a lot in the Nightmare Realm. If there was a channeling method inside, he could record it with his hologram tablet. According to Sunders, the channeling method was very special. Even if you memorized it, you would forget the content after leaving the Nightmare Realm. If he used the holographic tablet to record it first, he wouldn't have to worry too much even if he forgot about it when he returned to the real world.
If he waited for Sunders to enter together with him, he would not expose his hologram tablet, which meant he could not record anything. Of course, the channeling method book Sunders had been longing for for hundreds of years was behind the door.
If the door led to the exit of the underground maze, he would miss Sunders if he stepped inside.
This was why he was hesitating. To enter or not to enter was a difficult question.
In the end, Angor gritted his teeth. In the cruel and realistic wizarding world, one would never make it if he did not fight hard and press forward with an indomitable will. The great waves wash away the sand. If you don't die at the front, then you drown at the back. Only those who are not afraid of the waves can find a way out when they are at the peak of the waves.
With this thought in mind, Angor no longer hesitated. With a determined look, he bent down and entered the wooden door at the base of the statue.
The door was not high, so Angor thought the passage inside would be narrow. To his surprise, when he stepped on the stairs, he did not feel narrow at all.
He could not even feel the distance to the top. Both sides of the stairs were covered in endless darkness. Even his flashlight could not penetrate the dark mist. It was like a chaotic space. Only the stairs under his feet told him about its existence.
He walked for about ten minutes and still did not reach the end. Angor silently calculated the distance. If the height of the stairs was the same as the distance outside, he should have left the underground maze.
Two minutes later, he saw light ahead. Angor squinted his eyes and looked up. He saw another narrow wooden door. The door was open, and light came out from inside.
Angor quickly walked to the door. He did not step inside immediately. Instead, he looked at the other side in confusion.
He thought the door was the exit, but it did not seem to be the case. There was no end to the stairs. With the light from the door, he could see that the stairs were still spiraling upward. He did not know where the end was. The wooden door was only the middle of the staircase.
Angor lowered his head and looked inside the door.
There was a small room behind the door. There were light pipes like those in the underground maze above his head, which brightened up the whole room. Angor looked around. There were many things inside. There was a bed, a table, and a cabinet. It seemed someone used to live in this room.
Angor could not see clearly because of the angle. However, he did not see any traces of monsters in the room. So, he decided to check it out. Maybe the channeling method his professor mentioned was inside.
Angor bowed and stepped through the door. He purposely looked outside, worried that the stairs outside would disappear after he entered the room.
Obviously, he did not need to worry. There was no change inside or outside the door. The stairs were still there, and the wooden door was not closed.
Angor finally felt relieved. He began to search the small room.
The room was not big. The table, chair, and bed took up a lot of space. The furniture was all made of wood, so Angor could easily tell if there was something wrong.
The only place in the room that could hide something was the bedside cabinet. However, the cabinet was locked. Angor was glad that he had young Sunders' dagger. Otherwise, he would not be able to open the cabinet with his bare hands.
With the dagger in hand, Angor did not spend much effort to open the cabinet's lock.
As soon as the cabinet was opened, a rotten smell that had not been exposed to sunlight for a long time came out. Angor frowned and looked inside. There was a piece of clothing and a green book inside.
As soon as Angor touched the robe, it turned into ashes and disappeared.
As for the book with the green cover, there were also traces of wormwood characters, but they were not serious. Angor carefully took the book out and gently placed it on the table.
There was a row of words on the cover of the book that he did not recognize.
He opened the book and saw the same words. Angor had never seen this kind of writing before. However, after flipping through several pages, Angor made a guess based on some dates and notes. This book must be something like a diary.
The number of things written on each page was different, and there was the same footnote at the top of each page. Angor guessed that it was the date.
Since it was a diary he did not understand, it should not be the strange channeling method book his professor mentioned. With this in mind, Angor recorded the contents of the book. He did not understand it yet, but he might be able to decipher the words when he returned to the wizarding world.
There might be something strange in the book. It was something from the Nightmare Realm after all.
After recording, Angor did not put the book back. Instead, he left the wooden door.
Not long after he stepped on the stairs again, the green book on the table suddenly disappeared, and the lock on the bedside cabinet returned to its original state. If someone opened the bedside cabinet now, they would find that it was the same as when Angor first saw it. The clothes did not turn into ashes, and the book was still there. Everything here seemed to be frozen in time.
