Chapter 628

Report

After the masked Ndipaya elder obtained sufficient time to cast his magic, he actually unleashed his incomparably tyrannical 'Parasite Blowdarts'! It continuously shot out those incomparably disgusting parasite-like hairs, causing the contestants to suffer immensely.

This perverted ability known as' Parasitic Hairs' was an exceedingly bizarre existence. One could treat it as a form of black magic, or a living creature. Once it penetrated into one's body, it would inflict unending damage. But that wasn't all. Once it absorbed sufficient HP from one's body, the 'Parasitic Hairs' would become a summoned creature, and continue to invade the depths of its host's body to stir up havoc....

Hence, once one was struck by this' Parasitic Hairs', one must immediately dissect it. Otherwise, one's fate would be exceedingly miserable! Just imagine the consequences of performing an abortion on any part of one's body....

Reef had already lost two of his servants. Fortunately, Sheyan gritted his teeth and activated the party ability 'Gloryheal', in addition to a free honorary medicine dosage. Finally, he was able to withstand the indiscriminate bombardment of black magic from the masked elder! After slaying another Ndipaya elder, Reef and Sheyan hastily retreated and fled! Reef's servant was left behind here to cover their retreat, and he lost his servant.

After this battle, Sheyan's body was riddled with wounds from head to toe by Reef. It was practically more miserable than ancient China's' Death by a Thousand Cuts'.

Nevertheless, after two hours, Reef and Sheyan had healed their wounds and returned in a swirl of dust. Their battle had become much more relaxed! Without the Ndipaya elder casting his magic, and in addition to the fact that the duo was mostly resistant to the infectious diseases, they turned and fled after slaying another Ndipaya elder. With Reef's valiant 'Shattering Cardiac Roar' as cover for their retreat, and the pair of shoes that Reef was currently wearing to counteract the slowing effects of the swamp, those Ndipaya aborigines couldn't catch up to them even if they wanted to!

When the duo returned for the third time, the leaderless Ndipaya aborigines had sunk into a predicament of fighting for themselves. Finally, they were slaughtered one by one by Sheyan and Reef.

In this manner, the duo finally cleared out all the Ndipaya aborigines in the periphery of the swamp, and occupied their core village.

This Ndipaya settlement was situated on a piece of hard ground in the middle of the Great Swamp, occupying an area roughly the size of a school field. Within the settlement, wooden sheds of similar architectural styles were scattered around, as well as a tripod lookout tower. The entire settlement was filled with a primitive style assembly hall.

While doing an inventory check, the contestants were pleasantly surprised to discover two large treasure chests. At the same time, they also obtained a bountiful harvest. They obtained a total of six bags of gold sand, a silver beetle embedded in a very eye-catching place, and a crudely crafted gold brick. It seemed like these Ndipaya barbarians had sensed an impending storm, and had concentrated all their wealth in this most secure location. Yet, they didn't expect to be defeated by the contestants one by one.

After searching for a while, Party Ace finally obtained the last stone slab. However, after gathering all four stone slabs together, they didn't discover any abnormalities. Moreover, there weren't any traces of the legendary underground passageway.

If they were to pry apart every single brick and stone, they would definitely be able to locate the hidden mechanism. However, that would require a tremendous amount of time. Hence, Sheyan and Reef directly sought Mbenga's assistance. After pondering a little, Mbenga stooped down and tasted the blood of a dead tribal elder. Then, he shut his eyes and carefully sniffed the blood, before leading Sheyan and Reef towards the right.

Under Mbenga's guidance, they entered a spacious hut. Ahead of the hut was a spacious flat ground paved with stone. The hut was divided into three rooms, with the main entrance leading to the main room. Within the main room, there was a fire pond that never extinguished throughout the year. Usually, the natives would receive guests and treat illnesses here. The room to the left of the main room was the master's residence, while the room to the right was probably the place where they divided up their prey and cultivated black magic. Looking at the purplish black bloodstains on the ground, one could tell this place was stained with blood.

The main room's door didn't appear to be tightly shut, revealing a pitch-black crack. It was like a malevolent and savage beast's mouth, greedily awaiting the arrival of its prey. Mbenga pressed his hand against the door and gently pushed. Instantly, the door released a dull and unpleasant creak as it slowly opened. This creak echoed far into the silent night.

Sheyan immediately obstructed him and warned.

"Be careful."

Sheyan stood by the door for a while. By now, the sky was already dark. Because there wasn't any sun during the day, there wasn't any vapour or poisonous fog. Instead, the night sky was hazy. Sheyan raised his head and gazed at the sky. Unknowingly, the withered moon had already revealed half of its surface, as though a layer of white velvet had grown over it. It was hazy and indistinct, resembling the white hairs on the back of a rotting corpse's hand, or the veil on an evil spirit's head.

Sheyan suddenly spoke to Reef.

"I wonder if you've noticed something? That is, until now, the age of those Ndipaya barbarians we've slain is rather peculiar. "

After pondering briefly, Reef replied.

"That's right, they should be at least 40 years old. Among those barbarians we've slain, we haven't seen a single woman, child or youth."

Sheyan frowned and continued.

"Many environments in the biological world are identical. If we link them together with those Deathmarsh Great Crocodiles, what do you think?"

Reef was instantly stunned.

"Those Deathmarsh Great Crocodiles aren't able to survive in the core region of the Kijuju Marshland, and were chased out.... what you mean is, those Ndipaya barbarians we've slain, are those disqualified losers? Banished to the outskirts? "

Sheyan earnestly nodded and replied.

"That's very possible.... therefore, the true terror, is just about to begin!"

Reef breathed in deeply and nodded. Gripping his shield tightly, he then walked into the room. The room was filled with silence, as though a sinister and sinister entity was dominating this place. Even his own heartbeat could be distinctly heard, as a chilling and sinister sensation seeped into his blood.

Upon entering, he could smell an unpleasant fishy stench permeating the air. It was as though a dead fish had been rotting for a long time, or as though a gluttonous gigantic beast had released a satisfied burp. After smelling it for a long time, one would feel a nauseating sensation.

Under such an environment, the duo first stood quietly, waiting for their eyes to adapt to the darkness. Fortunately, the torches outside the door faintly illuminated the room. Moreover, a hole was opened in the ceiling, allowing the gloomy moonlight to seep in. Gradually, a vague outline of the room's furnishings could be seen.

At this moment, Sheyan's ears suddenly heard a queer sound! This sound was prolonged, as though a sharp object was scratching at a blackboard. It contained boundless agony and resentment, as though it was the mournful cries of a malicious spirit from the deepest depths of hell!

Speaking of which, this room was surrounded by walls, yet Sheyan could still feel waves of chilling wind swirling around. Unlike the cold of the natural world, this chilling wind seeped into his bone marrow, as though even his soul was about to be frozen solid! Although he and Reef were formidable contestants, fear was still an instinctive reaction to such a queer thing. Sheyan could only feel a chill running down his back, as the hairs on his arms stood erect.

Yet at this moment, Mbenga's face revealed a joyous expression. He shut his eyes and stretched out his thick palms, sensing the direction of the wind. Then, he strode towards the room on the right. He carefully searched the ground for a while, before hugging a large pottery by the side. This time, he didn't destroy it, but slowly rotated it with force. Everyone could feel the ground trembling faintly, before calming down after a long while.

After carefully searching the interior of the house, they didn't discover any abnormalities. Instead, Mbenga sprinted out of the house and discovered an astonishingly wide passageway leading downwards. The passageway had a flight of stairs that appeared to be constructed from processed rocks. If the mechanism wasn't activated, the flight of stairs would ascend vertically, forming a flat ground. It could be said to be a seamless setup.

Reef and Sheyan simultaneously entered the underground passageway, and realized this should be the passageway leading to the core of the Ndipaya Marshland. A thick stench of blood mixed with rotting flesh assailed their nostrils, causing them to feel nauseous. The air here seemed to have transformed into viscous water mixed with ice; as cold as the fingers of a corpse pressing against one's face.

Both sides of the passageway were piled up with stone. Probably to prevent the passageway from collapsing, a basin sized black hole would appear every few metres, its depth unfathomable. Sheyan illuminated it with a torch, and discovered something was crawling in and out of the hole. It was exceedingly glossy, and traces of dried mucus could be seen.

After taking a few more steps forward, a huge and sturdy door appeared in front of them. Beside the door were five or six white cocoon-like objects of different sizes. After taking a few more steps forward and getting closer to the door, they discovered that the surface of the cocoon-like objects was emitting a faint green glow even in the deep darkness. The cocoon-like objects flickered faintly. Every time the cocoon-like objects flickered, a strange paleness would appear on their surface. They seemed to be pulsating like a heartbeat, but also seemed to be melting something from the cocoon-like objects.

Beside one of the white cocoon-like objects, Sheyan shockingly noticed a resplendent golden butt of a gun! That was shockingly Brother Black's signature weapon! (To be continued.)
