Witnessing such a scene, Sheyan finally heaved a sigh of relief. He knew he had gambled correctly. At this moment, Sheyan wasn't in a hurry to leave. Instead, he searched for a place to sit down and rest. This abyss could be said to be fraught with dangers and unfathomable mysteries. He believed that legendary creatures had the ability to divide their territories. Thus, staying in the territory of the Breath of Death would be akin to receiving its protection. Hence, he had to recover to his peak condition before proceeding forward.
The appetite of the Breath of Death was exceedingly good. After devouring a large portion of the vampire bats, it even crawled to the edge of the spider web that was broken by the knight statue. Then, it devoured the broken spider web, before spitting out new spider webs. After finishing everything, it noticed that Sheyan hadn't left. It actually leapt towards Sheyan, its venomous fangs still clamping onto a vampire bat that had been injected with digestive enzymes. It then tossed the bat towards Sheyan, as though it was delivering food.
Sheyan glanced at the vampire bat that had swelled up like a rubber ball. Its eyes, ears and nose were still leaking out a faint yellow viscous fluid. Sheyan's heart instantly welled up with a sense of powerlessness. Looking at this thing, even if he had any appetite, it would have flown to the nine heavens.
However, heaven knows what would happen if he failed to live up to the goodwill of this giant spider. Sheyan could only helplessly squeeze out a smile, as he lifted up the bat. Unexpectedly, his nightmare imprint transmitted a notification.
"Details: You discovered an unknown strange object."
"Details: You can return to the nightmare realm and submit this strange object in exchange for a reward."
"Eh?" Sheyan didn't expect there to be such a benefit. Instantly, he didn't find the bat disgusting anymore. He immediately picked it up and stored it into his nightmare imprint. At present, he deeply felt the inadequacy of his narrow interspatial space. However, now wasn't the time to ponder over such matters. Instead, the Breath of Death tilted its head and sized up Sheyan for a long while. It was probably wondering why Sheyan was so greedy, not only did he suck the juices out of its prey, he even ate its outer shell ….. after a while, it decided not to dwell on this issue. Instead, it leisurely and lazily crawled down the cliff, quickly disappearing into the clouds.
Sheyan continued resting here for close to 4 hours. After a good sleep, he was basically back to normal. The stone walls here still emitted a faint light, so it wasn't dark. He took out some food from the storage space to eat, and then began to climb down along the crack in the wall. As the height gradually decreased, some moss-like plants began to appear on the rock walls. Sheyan didn't know if it was because he was carrying the key with him, but he didn't encounter any danger along the way. Furthermore, he discovered that the deeper he climbed, the more stable the key became.
Finally, after a long climb, the ground could be seen from below. If a contestant didn't possess a digitized body, then even the world's number one rock climber wouldn't be able to sustain for so long.
Sheyan jumped down from the stone wall and rolled to the ground. Although his chest still ached faintly, it didn't affect his movement. Countless stalactites and stalagmites appeared on the ground, dividing the ground. Gray-white fungi grew in the wet crevices at the edges, while some half-dry, half-wet moss covered the ground. It seemed to be a huge labyrinth made up of a large number of white stalactites.
Sheyan even encountered some Mandrake as he moved forward. These dangerous plants were thought to have evil lives, and their seeds were created by people who had died underground. Their roots took on the shape of men and women, and once they left the soil, they would let out a fatal scream. Sheyan saw these Mandrake pulling themselves out of the soil on their own initiative and then hunting with their screams. Even though he escaped very quickly at the time, he still lost almost one-third of his HP.
Fortunately, Sheyan also had the severed key as a guide at this time. It seemed to be able to magically point in a certain direction. Once he went in the wrong direction, the degree of heat would quickly decrease. After stumbling for more than ten kilometres, Sheyan began to see traces of artificial modification in front of him. He could clearly feel that there were many dangers lurking in the dark along the way, but for some reason, they all chose to remain silent and endure. After walking for another ten minutes, Sheyan climbed up an underground hill. The scene before him suddenly opened up!
An open area that could even be described as a plain appeared in front of him. A large number of low buildings and simple huts were scattered messily on the open area. It could no longer be described as a town or a market. This area, which covered at least tens of square kilometres, was simply an underground city or refugee camp. Of course, it could only be described as dirty and messy. Although the style of the buildings was sloppy and simple, some of the unique crooked style of Gringotts could be vaguely seen.
Sheyan slowly walked into it. He was probably the first living creature to walk into this city in nearly ten thousand years. The traces of time seemed to have stopped here. With every step he took, a fine dust cloud crept up to his feet. On his left was a grocery store called 'Half a Copper'. Inside, he could vaguely see the mess it was in during the evacuation. On his right was a grain store called 'Huge Diamond'. Inside, the stools were all over the place, as though it had been robbed.
Sheyan coughed softly. With him as the centre, the houses of more than 20 metres around him collapsed at the same time, stirring up dust all over the sky! All signs of life returned to their original source in an instant, turning into ashes! At present, Sheyan was enjoying the wanton destruction of a superior being. However, such a collapse triggered a terrifying chain reaction. Everything around him started collapsing crazily. In just a few minutes, a huge flattened cloud of dust rose up from the plain! Sheyan was stunned for a moment before he finally regained control of his body.
Cough cough cough! " Five minutes later, Sheyan, who had turned into a cloud of white dust, rushed out crazily. He buried his head and sprinted for nearly a hundred metres before he raised his head to look around. He then knelt on the ground, pinched his nose and retched for a long time before he finally recovered. He was not sure if he would have been the first contestant to choke to death by dust in a few more minutes.
When he raised his head, he was stunned.
In front of him was a huge straight road that extended forward. The road was made of crystal and was a hundred metres wide. There were clear streams on both sides of the road. There were more than ten huge pyramids standing on both sides of the road. The architectural style of these pyramids ranged from square ones like the Mayan temples to triangular ones like the Egyptian pyramids. Next to each pyramid was a guardian statue that was hundreds of metres tall. The Mayan statue was the graceful and ferocious feathered serpent god Kukulkan, while the Egyptian one was the mysterious and majestic Sphinx! Who knew what secrets were hidden at the end of this road, that it actually required the protection of these pyramids!!!
Sheyan turned back to look, only to see the road was shrouded in a layer of fog. He couldn't see clearly. Obviously, there was a magical barrier here that could block people's vision. If not, he would've discovered such a majestic structure from the hills. He attempted to walk back, but after walking for half a day, it was as though he was treading on the same spot.
Helplessly, Sheyan washed his body in the clear stream by the side, and continued forward. Before he walked a hundred metres, an extremely familiar feeling welled up in his heart. It was exactly the same as the one he experienced at the entrance of Gringotts! The difference was, the feeling at the entrance of Gringotts could be described as a sudden surge of emotions. It came and went quickly, but this feeling was like a water droplet, faint yet persistent!
"Damn it." Sheyan suddenly felt a chill in his heart. "Is it because my perceptive sense is too weak, and I was misled by someone else? Is this actually a trap to send me to my death? "
Yet coincidentally, he had been misled by the 'Death's Breath' hunting spider not long ago. Thinking back carefully, he realized the feeling in his heart was different from before. After trekking through innumerable trials and tribulations to reach here, if he didn't go in to investigate, it wouldn't be justifiable. After taking in a deep breath, he could only continue forward.
At present, the road beneath Sheyan's feet was extremely solemn. It was constructed with a deep black jade, deep and heavy. Walking on it was like walking in the night sky. The surface of the road seemed to have something extra, and upon closer inspection, it was actually a huge and exquisite relief sculpture. For the sake of collecting more information about this mysterious place, Sheyan earnestly studied it. It was a drawing of a huge and ferocious humanoid monster. It had three heads and eight arms and looked strong and fat. Each of its eight arms held a variety of extremely powerful weapons. It was killing in and out of numerous terrifying creatures as if there was no one around.
After walking for a while, the plump monster on the mural seemed to have sunk into a dormant state, as it laid on the ground snoring. On its belly sat an extremely tall and sturdy man. His entire body was shrouded in a layer of mysterious mist. Numerous formidable monsters swarmed in from all directions, but with a wave of his hand, the mysterious man annihilated all those monsters. One could tell how formidable his strength was.
The only puzzling thing was, that mysterious man was actually carrying an exceedingly dilapidated and wide sackcloth sack on his back. It was bulging and filled, completely destroying the dignified and mysterious style of the entire structure.
Sheyan was extremely puzzled. Logically speaking, a craftsman capable of constructing such a grand scale project absolutely wouldn't commit such a mistake. Thus, the only explanation was that the builder himself requested for it ….. Thinking of that, Sheyan suddenly felt curious about that slumbering fella ahead. What kind of transcendental taste did one have, to be able to create such a huge pile of stuff? (To be continued.)
