Chapter 2019

Ifig glared with her pale eyes and roared madly. Although the tentacles that grew from her severed limbs had yet to take shape, they were rapidly gathering together like a fried dough twist made from multiple muscles. They attempted to increase their density to resist the invisible silent slaughter.
But it did not matter if they could block one or two attacks.
Ifige's severed limbs were growing at an incredible speed, but Rein's absolute power still prevented him from doing anything.
With a loud rumble, the sphere above Ifig's head shattered into pieces. Ifig's head drew a parabola in the air and bounced three times before finally landing in front of Rhine.
His mouth was still open, revealing his sharp teeth. Foul green liquid flowed out of his pale eyes.
Ifige looked hideous, but at the last moment, Rein and Sunders saw a hint of transcendence.
Sunders could still remember the man with blue hair and a pair of eyes as beautiful as gemstones, and the arrogant look on his face. But now, Ifige no longer had the right to be arrogant. He became a wretched corpse that would never rest in peace.
When Ifige's head slowly turned into dim specks of light, dispersing like black smoke and merging into the darkness, there was an inexplicable sense of ceremonial finality.
Perhaps this was the best release for Ifige.
After Ifige's disappearance, the place fell into silence for about ten seconds. After a long while, Rhine let out a deep sigh.
"Ifige was one of the few wizards from Song of the Deep who did not get tainted by otherworldly grievances. He was a cold person, but he was someone worth befriending. What a pity. "Rein looked at the spot where Ifige's head disappeared with a sad look." I didn't think the first piece of information I got would be such a tragedy. "
"I don't think we sensed his soul?" Sunders asked.
Rein nodded. "His soul must have been restrained when he was made into a sewn corpse. It's very likely that his soul is in the hands of the mastermind who sewed the corpse together."
Rein and Sunders did not look too happy when they heard about the mastermind. Someone who could sew a corpse together was definitely not an idiot. In the Nightmare Realm, any intelligent being was not easy to deal with.
They could only hope that the mastermind behind the scenes would not appear.
Thinking of this, Rhine looked back at the entrance of the ruins. Behind the door, the 10-meter passageway that could be seen was very quiet. There was nothing strange about it. Even the flames on the candlesticks on both sides were as calm as ever.
This calmness allowed Rhine to heave a sigh of relief.
However, the calmness made Rhine feel a little unreal. There were so many monsters outside the passage, so how could the ruins remain so quiet? Was it really possible?
Rhine temporarily threw these thoughts to the back of his mind, not willing to think too much about it. Then, he slowly took a few steps forward. Although the Sutured Corpse Demon represented by Ifig had disappeared, there were still the remains of the ball-shaped Corpse Demon on the ground.
The ball-shaped demon really did not seem to be swallowed by the darkness.
At this time, Rhine didn't think too much about it. Instead, he pointed at the ground, and the remains of the spherical devil slowly floated into the air.
The almost unreasonable increase in power displayed by the ball-shaped devil made Rhine curious about this strange creature. However, now was not the time to study the ball-shaped demon. Rhine planned to collect some of the remains so that he could study them with Dumartin later.
Of course, it would be best if he could collect a living ball-shaped demon.
Rhine looked up at the darkness in front of him. Would there be more ball-shaped demons later?
Just as Rhine was thinking about the ball-shaped devil, he seemed to have sensed something and turned his head around abruptly.
He also sensed danger, which made every inch of his skin tense up. His hair stood on end as if an unprecedented danger was approaching him.
"That's the feeling!" His expression changed. He had the same feeling when he saw the pair of leather shoes in the passage last time.
Danger, warning, as if something terrible was about to happen.
Sunders glanced at Rein and tried to warn him. However, Rhine had obviously noticed it. His expression was very dignified and serious, and his eyes were fixed on the back of the ruins' door.
Seeing Rhine's reaction, Sunders looked at the entrance as well.
It was still quiet inside. There was no change in the ten-meter-long passage. However, the candles on both sides of the passage began to flicker.
It was as if a gust of wind was blowing in from the corner of the passage.
"Take Angor out of here." Rhine was still staring at the passage behind the door.
There was no sign of danger yet, but he knew that it would be too late when he saw the danger.
With that in mind, he grabbed Angor's shoulder without hesitation. "Open the door and go back!"
Angor was still immersed in controlling his spirit power and had no idea what was going on outside. Thanks to his concentration, he reached the entrance one minute earlier than expected. He even saw the runes on the other side of the door.
When he was trying to find a corner of the runes that represented a "map", he suddenly heard Sunders' voice.
Angor was stunned for half a second before he realized what was going on. He knew that Sunders didn't mean to open the entrance of the ruin. Sunders wanted him to use the Gate of Illusion to go back to the entrance of the passage and leave the ruin.
Angor felt regretful since he would be able to see the runes in half a minute at most. However, he did not try to argue with Sunders.
He knew that staying alive was more important than anything else.
Without hesitation, Angor withdrew his spirit feelers from the door and prepared to activate the door model in his spirit model.
However, right at this moment, a voice suddenly sounded.
"Aiya, aiya, humans really don't know how to appreciate things. Even my cute little pet was killed by you. It really makes my heart ache ~" This was a slightly sharp voice, speaking the Common Language with a strange accent.
As the voice spread out, a strange shadow that was dragged by the fire gradually appeared at the corner of the ten-meter-long passage behind the door.
At the same time, a pair of leather shoes stepped out of the passage.
It was the same pair of shoes that Sunders saw before. They looked plain, but they were extremely strange.
