"So, this is the screening area?"
Su Ping went to the registration area.
There was a sea of people in front of him, and it was noisy everywhere.
There were at least a hundred thousand people in the spacious square. Many of them were carrying their pets, which had shrunk to the size of a miniature.
Some of the pets were as petite as elves, sitting on their masters' shoulders.
"Are you … the boss?"
Someone asked in surprise while Su Ping was observing the place. He turned around, only to find that it was Filius.
"Huh?"
Su Ping raised his eyebrows.
He remembered the guy as an early customer of the shop.
What surprised Su Ping was that he had made some minor adjustments to his appearance before he went out, making himself look more ordinary. How could this guy recognize him at first glance?
"Are you really the boss? I've seen your clothes before … "Filius was surprised and excited to see Su Ping's reaction. He didn't expect to meet Su Ping there.
Su Ping was the most famous person in Woffett City at the moment.
He was a Star State expert supported by a grandmaster trainer. Even the ruler of Rhea wouldn't dare to offend him.
It was almost impossible to meet Su Ping, apart from doing business.
"My clothes …"
Su Ping looked at his clothes and understood what was going on. He didn't know that his clothes were exposed. He had been so focused on his battle pets that he didn't notice it.
"Don't tell anyone."
Filius nodded excitedly.
"Boss, are you here to be a judge?" Asked Filius carefully, with awe and gratitude in his eyes. He would choose to train his pets again every time he picked them up.
He already had quite a few pets with Class A aptitudes. One of them had been trained three times and was already A +!
That was why he was confident to participate in the auditions!
Without Su Ping, he wouldn't have dared to have high hopes of winning first place in Woffett City. That was his goal, but he knew that it would be difficult to achieve.
However, he was very confident at the moment.
Also, his family learned that he could train pets in Su Ping's store. As a result, his status in his family rose as well.
He had also received a lot of funds from his family, which allowed him to receive professional training in Su Ping's shop!
On the other hand, his family had also spread the news, making the forces that had previously pressured his family or the local tycoons much more polite to him.
He would be considered a lunatic if he told others about it, but Filius knew that it was all because he could train pets in Su Ping's shop.
As long as he had the money, he could choose to continue training his pets every time he picked them up!
Once he gave up, he would have to wait in line the next time he wanted to train his pets.
Who knew how long the queue outside of Su Ping's shop would last?
"No, I'm here to sign up," said Su Ping.
"?"
“?”
But Star State pets aren't allowed to participate in the Pet Contest … " Filius was stunned. "You … You're here to sign up?
Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly realized that Su Ping didn't have to use his own battle pets. He could use someone else's!
He suddenly realized something before he could finish. Su Ping didn't have to use his own pets; he could use someone else's!
Su Ping was also there to sign up; he was definitely aiming for the first place.
Su Ping looked at the guy and shook his head, not saying anything else to him.
Su Ping shook his head but didn't say anything else.
A gentle voice suddenly echoed.
Stunned, Su Ping turned around, only to find that it was Mia.
Stunned, Su Ping turned around and saw that it was Mia.
"Is it really you, Boss Su?" Mia was delighted to see Su Ping turn around. "Are you here as a judge?"
"…" Su Ping was at a loss for words. Why do they all think they're judges? Can't I be a contestant?
Filius quickly answered on Su Ping's behalf, seeing that he didn't say anything.
Mia was in disbelief. "You're here for the contest?"
She realized that she had lost her composure after realizing what was going on. She quickly smiled and said, "Then, congratulations on winning the Pet Contest, Boss Su. The Transcendence Fruit was prepared for you."
"Yes."
Su Ping nodded. He didn't consider it a compliment, but a fact.
Mia was even more envious of Su Ping's confidence. She had signed up for the contest, hoping to enjoy herself there before returning to the academy. She didn't really expect to win any prizes.
Also, the number of Class A pets in Woffett City had skyrocketed because of Su Ping's shop. She didn't have much confidence in winning any prizes, even though she had a Class A pet herself.
All she wanted was for her battle pet to gain some combat experience.
…
The line was soon over, and it was Su Ping's turn to sign up.
Su Ping summoned the Little Skeleton, the Dark Dragon Hound, the Inferno Dragon, the Purple Python, and the white-scaled Vast Sky Thunderous Dragon.
Apart from the Little Skeleton and the Dark Dragon Hound, the appearance of the Inferno Dragon and the others alarmed the people in the line.
However, they all felt that it was a false alarm when they saw that the dragons and pythons were only of low-level bloodlines.
The white-scaled Vast Sky Thunderous Dragon, on the other hand, attracted a lot of attention. They were all surprised to see its white scales, as it was obviously a mutated Vast Sky Thunderous Dragon.
There was no telling whether it had mutated in a good or bad way.
It was quite common that some of the mutations were retrogressions, which made them much weaker than their peers.
Exclamations came from other places in front of the judges who had signed up. Occasionally, pets with powerful bloodlines would show up, attracting the attention of countless people.
"Are my eyes deceiving me? Does this guy want to sign up with that python?"
"That serpent doesn't seem to be at the Ocean State."
"Look, there's a skeleton over there. How dare he bring it out?"
"I remember that skeletons of the undead class aren't particularly tough, are they?"
Mia and Filius, who were sitting next to Su Ping, were sweating as they listened to the whispers around them. Do you know whose pets you're questioning?
However, they were also surprised.
They had thought that Su Ping would use other people's pets, but they didn't expect that he would summon them himself.
It was rather strange that a Star State expert would have so many low-level pets.
The judge in front of Su Ping was an old man at the Fate State. He narrowed his eyes when he saw all the pets that Su Ping had summoned, especially the skeleton that was at the same height as he was sitting at the front of the room.
Although the skeleton didn't release any aura, he felt that his hair was standing on end when it stared at him with its hollow eye sockets.
It was like a horrifying creature was staring at him with its bottomless eye sockets!
"Yes."
"Please allow your battle pet to undergo a mental engraving. Also, give your battle pet a resounding name." The old man said.
He took out a crystal badge that looked like a talisman, which was used to engrave and leave a mark on the registration.
Su Ping immediately asked the Little Skeleton to leave a mark on the badge with its mental power. He thought for a moment and said, "Let's call it Little Skeleton."
"Little Skeleton?"
The old man was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting Su Ping to give a name so casually.
But since it was none of his business, he didn't say anything else. He simply asked, "What rank did you register for the Little Skeleton at?"
"The Fate State," said Su Ping.
He had learned the rules before he came. Even though the Little Skeleton was only at the Ocean State, the registration wasn't restricted by its rank. However, under normal circumstances, people would only register their ranks if they were at the same rank. Wouldn't it be better to win the first place? It would be easy to fail if the battle pet was at a higher rank!
After all, all the pets participating in the competition were of the highest rank.
You could've won the first place if you were at the highest rank, but the natural gap of one rank between you and the opponent's pet could be fatal!
Many people would even dispel their battle pets' cultivation and lower their rank by one level in order to win the prizes. That would hurt their battle pets, but they could make up for it if they could win the prizes. It was like a business deal. You had to weigh the pros and cons. In the end, it was worth it.
"The Fate State?"
The old man narrowed his eyes, but he wasn't too surprised. The skeleton gave him an indescribable sense of danger. He could tell that the Little Skeleton was only at the Ocean State, but who knew if it was faking its rank?
Soon, the Little Skeleton's registration was over.
"Let it enter the venue when it's time for the competition. We've recorded its scent," said the old man to Su Ping.
"Okay."
Su Ping nodded and signed up the Dark Dragon Hound and the Inferno Dragon, who were also at the Fate State.
The white-scaled Vast Sky Thunderous Dragon also finished its registration; it was at the Void State.
The Purple Python, on the other hand, was at the Ocean State.
Su Ping wanted to be the champion of all three ranks.
"I don't think your battle pet has reached the Ocean State yet, has it?"
Asked the old man in confusion while he was signing up the Purple Python.
The difference between a beast king and a battle pet below the king level was obvious and easy to tell. He didn't think that Su Ping was faking it. He also couldn't understand why Su Ping, who could control Fate State battle pets, would have contracted a low-level pet that wasn't even at the Ocean State. Shouldn't those pets have been abandoned and replaced with Fate State battle pets?
"Well, can I sign up?" asked Su Ping.
The old man didn't expect Su Ping to admit it. He frowned and said, "Yes, but the gap between us … I don't think it'll be easy for you to win the flag, or even die!"
"As long as you can."
"…"
The old man was lost for words, seeing that Su Ping didn't care about what he said at all. He could only shake his head and sign up for Su Ping.
It was someone else's battle pet anyway. It was a pity that the battle pet had chosen the wrong master.
…
All the battle pets had registered. Su Ping took them back and left the team.
Exclamations were echoing in the other registration booths.
Su Ping looked over and saw a majestic dragon covered in black scales. The dragon was emitting demonic flames and its aura was as vast as an abyss.
"It's a Demonic Asura Dragon!"
"What a rare battle pet! It's even more horrifying than a Vast Sky Thunderous Dragon!"
"I wonder what aptitude it has."
"I heard that a Demonic Asura Dragon with a Class A aptitude was detected a few days ago. Could it be this one?"
Someone whispered to each other.
All of a sudden, Su Ping found the dragon familiar. Wasn't it the battle pet of a customer he had trained before?
During the training, the dragon had been following the Dark Dragon Hound and the Little Skeleton around like a minion, stirring up trouble with them.
Su Ping shook his head and stopped looking at it.
"Boss, are you going to use those battle pets for the contest?"
Filius and Mia were waiting for Su Ping outside of the crowd. They had seen the battle pets that Su Ping had summoned, and were quite surprised.
Apart from the mutant Vast Sky Thunderous Dragon, the other battle pets didn't seem to have very good bloodlines.
"Yes."
Su Ping didn't say much to them. "I have to go back to work. See you tomorrow."
The two of them had a lot of questions to ask Su Ping, but they didn't dare to ask him to stay. They could only bid him farewell.
Su Ping went back to the store to continue the training for the day.
Su Ping asked Joanna, "Which race do you think the words on it belong to?"
Joanna didn't know the words on the training skill, either.
"They seem to be from an even older era. Someone probably knew them in the primeval era," Joanna speculated.
Su Ping was intrigued. An even older era? Maybe there were living creatures in top cultivation sites like the Archean Divinity or the Chaotic Realm of the Undead.
Su Ping would be able to ask them after he went to the Archean Divinity with Joanna.
…
Another day passed in the blink of an eye.
On the second day, fewer people came to the training site, but the line was still as long as the eye could see.
Many people had left for the Pet Contest, but those who knew that they had no hope of making a name for themselves in the Pet Contest were still waiting there dutifully.
It was the day of the Pet Contest. Su Ping returned the trained pets to the customers who had come to pick them up early and postponed the opening to the afternoon. He then closed the shop and sent the Little Skeleton, the Dark Dragon Hound and the other pets to the Pet Contest's audition field in Woffett City.
The qualifier … consisted of three Void Barriers floating in the sky above the city.
There was an enormous mountain inside each of the three barriers, which could be seen from the outskirts of Woffett City.
Su Ping arrived at the entrance of the barriers. It was the square of the mayor's office in Woffett City. It was extremely huge, but it was full of people at the moment.
There were so many participants that Su Ping was amazed by.
"The audition will last for four hours!"
"From eight to twelve!"
"Whoever captures the flag on the Pet King Mountain in the next four hours will be qualified to challenge!"
The rules of the audition were simple and straightforward. Whoever captured the flag would be the king!
It was already eleven in the morning when Su Ping arrived. There was only one hour left.
Su Ping had learned the rules in advance. He could enter any time before midnight, and sometimes, the earlier the better. After all, he had to guard the flag!
"Let's go in."
Su Ping immediately summoned the Dark Dragon Hound, the Little Skeleton, and the other pets and had them enter the barriers.
