It had just rained heavily, so the ground was still wet. The car sped away at a high speed, causing the water to splatter everywhere. A few drops landed on Qiao Anhao's exposed arms.
As the car left, the streets of Mian Xiu Garden villa district became empty, leaving only Qiao Anhao.
The streetlights on both sides of the street shone faintly on Qiao Anhao's frail body, making her look helpless and lonely.
Qiao Anhao stood there for a long while before she stopped crying. She opened her bag and took out a wet tissue. After wiping her face, she turned around and walked into the villa.
Qiao Anhao picked up the keys and entered the house. Just as she was changing her shoes at the entrance, Madam Chen walked out of her bedroom. She wasn't surprised to see Qiao Anhao come back without telling her beforehand. "Madam, I prepared dinner for you, do you want to eat?"
Qiao Anhao had just cried, so she was feeling a little down. She didn't notice how Madam Chen knew she would be back tonight, so she just shook her head and said softly, "It's okay, I already ate outside."
She paused for a moment, then said to Madam Chen, "I'm a little tired, I'll go upstairs first."
"Then I'll prepare a hot bath for Madam, it'll help you get some rest."
Madam Chen was about to head upstairs when Qiao Anhao smiled faintly, rejecting her. "It's okay, I'll do it myself. You should rest early."
"Alright, goodnight Madam."
"Goodnight." Qiao Anhao smiled at Madam Chen, then went upstairs.
Back in the bedroom, Qiao Anhao casually threw her bag on the sofa, took a hot bath, and changed into a set of dry pajamas. She didn't feel the slightest bit sleepy, so she dug out the luggage she had brought to Mian Xiu Garden from the changing room. She entered the password to open it, and found a small gift box. Sitting on the carpeted floor, she opened it.
The things inside were messy. There was a pair of plane tickets, train tickets, and a few red hundred-dollar bills.
Qiao Anhao stared at them for a while, then reached her hand out. She flipped through them, and a sky blue envelope appeared.
Qiao Anhao gently caressed the envelope with her fingers, then picked it up.
The back of the envelope was glued shut, and no one had ever opened it. Even after so many years, it was still glued tightly.
But because it had been so long, the color of the envelope had faded. The red star in the middle was almost completely gone, revealing patches of white.
Madam Chen waited for Qiao Anhao to go upstairs for a while before returning to her bedroom. She picked up the phone and made a call.
