The water wall summoned by the Ocean-freak Moria hovered in the air for roughly 2-2 seconds, as though it was accumulating strength. Then, like a tsunami, it gushed out!!
This gushing force was simply like a flash flood. In that instance, at least half of the water in the underground lake was forcefully sucked out, bringing along the anguished fury of the Ocean-freak Moria!!
The reason why the Ocean-freak Moria didn't use this move previously was because it was apprehensive of its overbearing momentum, and would inevitably affect the surrounding eggs. Now that it no longer had any misgivings, it naturally unleashed its ultimate move with all its might, even exerting all its strength to suck milk.
Although the underground cavern was extremely spacious, under the all-out effort of the Ocean-freak Moria, it instantly transformed into an unbridled ocean. Its momentum didn't diminish, the torrential flood even crashed against the enormous natural arched door at the east side of the cavern. Then, it directly gushed out towards the lower cave passageway on the right!
At this moment, one could see the terrifying might of the Ocean-freak Moria. If it was previously a legendary rank 5 creature, then after entering the water, its might would at least soar to the peak of legendary rank 6!
Caught off guard, Sheyan's hiding spot was suddenly submerged by the water. Even his body was swept up by the torrential flood. Fortunately, his sharp eyes and nimble hands managed to grab onto a nearby stalagmite, but his entire body was swept away by the torrential flood.
Fortunately, his pure strength was still at 23 points, and he managed to carve out several finger marks on the stalagmite. Even so, the rocks on the stalagmite cracked and crumbled, as though it would break apart at any second. Sheyan barely stabilized his balance, and gritted his teeth to prevent himself from being swept away.
At this moment, Sheyan observed the torrential flood, and instantly understood why there were so many Ocean-freak Moria's eggs scattered in the canyon passageway.
It seems like the Ocean-freak Moria had attempted to lay her eggs here many times. Probably because this was the only place suitable for her to lay her eggs. Unfortunately, the rocks here would warm up, and possess a body temperature phenomenon. This was due to the influence of the Balrog hiding here, and thus every time she tried to breed, the crafty Balrog would always spoil her plans.
When an octopus is enraged, it would often release a flood, causing the flood to overflow to the heavens. Rushing towards the gorge they had entered from, there was a gigantic boulder at the end of the gorge (the boulder where the reef was climbing) blocking the way, thus the flow of water would slow down. Most of the Ocean-freak of Moria's eggs would be scattered around the gorge, as the flood slowly overflowed from beneath the gigantic boulder, flowing through the pine forest and into the lake.
Previously, the strange behaviour of Saruman's orc tribe was clear as day. They skinned their captives and tossed them down the icy cliff. They also wanted to ensure the health of their captives, because if the captives were still alive after being skinned, they would struggle and roll on the ground.
Under such frigid temperatures, the frozen corpses of the skinned captives would be covered in mud, sand and rocks. Of course, there was also Saruman's final objective – the Ocean-freak of Moria's eggs at the bottom of the valley.
Obviously, the uruk-hais and orcs, and even Saruman's doppelganger, were unable to climb down from the thousand metre tall icy peak, and retrieve the corpses that were tossed down. Because what they had to face wasn't just the cold and steep snow mountain, but also the immense threat of crossing the lake. Although they couldn't do it, it didn't mean other creatures couldn't.
Speaking of which, Saruman's doppelganger was indeed a genius. He actually researched the habits of the Great Eagles of the Misty Mountains – Thorondor's son, and concocted a scent that they liked. (That is, the smoke from the simple stone basin) He lured them over, and then tossed the stone basin down the icy valley.
The Great Eagles would of course follow the source of the smoke, and naturally discover the frozen corpses at the bottom of the valley (with added seasoning – Ocean-freak Moria's mucus). Encountering such fresh and delicious food, they would naturally feast their fill. According to the habits of these creatures, they would definitely bring back a few to their nest to feed their young, or even bring supper for their mates.
According to the topography of this icy peak, after the Great Eagles had their fill, they would usually fly over the orc camp. At that time, Saruman would control the Wizard Tower to attack. The Great Eagles' sharpest weapons were their beak and claws, therefore when they were enraged and retaliated, they would instinctively loosen their claws. Thus, the frozen corpses would naturally fall down. If the frozen corpses had Ocean-freak Moria's eggs attached to them, then Saruman's doppelganger would have profited. Of course, the majority of them wouldn't.
However, Saruman had obviously obtained huge benefits from the Ocean-freak Moria's eggs, and his research had probably achieved a breakthrough.
This point wasn't only reflected in the research and breeding of those powerful tentacle monsters, but also the 'Ocean-freak Moria's mucus' they drank previously.
The former was an extremely powerful biological weapon, loyal, intelligent and good at thinking. The latter was an incomparably miraculous healing medicine, able to raise one's survival rate on the battlefield by several folds!
Currently, the only thing Sheyan wasn't sure of was how Saruman discovered the first 'Ocean-freak Moria's' egg ….. it could have been fished up by an orc from the lake, or it could have been a legend passed down by a small orc tribe that had been annihilated, or it could have been a sinister sacrificial divination.
But what Sheyan could confirm was, Saruman had probably conducted multiple investigations here, and even paid a disastrous price. That was why he had no choice but to resort to such an inefficient method of skinning the eagle.
"Then ….." Sheyan instantly understood something. "Those uruk-hais and eye demons outside, they aren't here for the three of us! We're just fish in the moat! "
Obviously, Saruman had planned for this for a long time. Based on his strength, he shouldn't be too far off from Ocean-freak Moria. Only, Ocean-freak Moria was an aquatic creature, and had a huge advantage in the water. As long as it controlled the only route to Carn Dûm lake, then Saruman wouldn't be able to do anything to it.
But Saruman wasn't just strong physically, he also possessed an astute intellect and wisdom. Probably after a long period of meticulous investigations and calculations, he should have calculated that this legendary creature, Ocean-freak Moria, should be laying her eggs around this time. Hence, he decided to launch an expedition at this time, seizing the opportunity to strike!
Previously, when Sheyan was in the basement of the wizard tower, he had processed a huge amount of casting materials, it should be in preparation for this expedition. As for Sheyan's escape, it became the fuse for Saruman to prematurely launch this expedition. The location of this secret training base for the uruk-hais, Saruman had spent a huge amount of effort on it, and definitely couldn't allow it to be leaked to the outside world!
Of course, Saruman was a human and not a god, he definitely wouldn't have guessed that Ocean-freak Moria would actually clash with the ancient balrog because of laying her eggs. His main objective for this expedition, was probably to seize the opportunity of Ocean-freak Moria not laying her eggs in the lake, and head towards the narrow valley they called the 'Land of Hope', to collect the eggs of Ocean-freak Moria.
Yet as the saying goes, Man proposes, God disposes. Ocean-freak Moria's wrath directly caused the orcs and uruk-hais that had entered the 'Land of Hope' to be caught in the crossfire. They had to face the incomparably terrifying flood!!
Sheyan tightly gripped onto the stalagmite in front of him. He could even hear the soft creaking sounds of his fingernails grinding against the stone surface. He bit down hard on his lips, as the fingernails of his hand that gripped onto the stalagmite were flipped open, dripping with fresh blood. However, Sheyan still tried his best to stabilize his body within the flood. He knew that once he was swept away, just the violent collisions of the surrounding rocks would be enough to claim his life!
Fortunately, his current location was at the back half of the mountain, close to the underground lake, and not directly in front of the Ocean-freak Moria's water flow. Hence, he could occasionally catch his breath from the backflow of the water.
Seizing the opportunity of a backflow, Sheyan fiercely leaned forward, using both his hands and legs to tightly hold onto the stalagmite. There was still a large boulder in front of him, thus he was able to conceal himself well, and finally managed to catch his breath. Ocean-freak Moria angrily spewed out water for close to 10 minutes before finally stopping. Sheyan reckoned that the amount of water it spewed out was definitely not inferior to a medium sized river's maximum flow rate during a flood!
"Splash! Splash! Splash!" The water slowly slapped against the surrounding rock walls. Even though it was an incomparably powerful legendary creature, Ocean-freak Moria could clearly feel its exhaustion. Its perfectly intact limbs laid flat on the surface of the water, obviously panting for breath. The surging water in all directions rapidly surged, causing land to quickly appear in this underground space that had already formed a vast lake.
Without a doubt, no matter if it was Sheyan or Ocean-freak Moria, both of them stared fixedly at the center of the underground cavern. That area was still flowing water, with white foam and turbid waves forming numerous tiny whirlpools. That was the place where the balrog resided before the flood!
The water currents rapidly churned, but not a single trace of the balrog could be seen. Only a small scorch mark on the rocky surface proved one thing: A short period of time ago, a legendary creature stood on top of it, and it possessed an extremely high temperature. (To be continued.
