Chapter 86

Words:1744Update:22/06/26 10:53:21

Report

It was already eight forty in the morning when they got out of the helicopter.

The morning sun shone on the building of the West Precinct Police Station, giving it a golden glow.

An agent of the Major Crimes Division had just bought breakfast. He was stunned to see Luke and Selina. "Luke, Selina, you're back?"

Luke and Selina greeted him with a smile. "Oh, Creech, good morning."

Creech looked at the helicopter behind them with a strange expression. "Why … did you come back in that thing?"

Luke chuckled. "We had an emergency. We borrowed it to get back."

Creech was still a little suspicious, but he didn't ask any more questions.

Everybody's cases were confidential, unless they were close enough to talk about it.

But Luke and Selina's team had only been here for a few days, and they had only known each other for a while.

So, he nodded and went in.

Luke and Selina entered the police department. At the back door, Selina stopped and searched her body. She took out a few coins, inserted them into the vending machine, and pressed the button.

Two cans popped out.

She took one for herself and gave the other to Luke.

Seeing that Selina was enjoying the drink, Luke shook his head and had no choice but to drink it as well.

He had never been interested in the drink, and Selina had been trying to make him like it. As she put it, partners should share the good stuff.

Selina had listened to him last night. She hadn't caused any trouble, and had even helped him guard the helicopter.

Now, he could only drink the weird drink as well.

There was no telling if it was because he had smelled too much blood and rot last night, but Luke suddenly felt that the drink tasted pretty good.

Just like that, they drank the caramel carbonated drink all the way to Thomas's office.

They knocked on the door, and someone called out, "Come in."

They pushed the door open and entered. Thomas frowned but didn't say anything.

As the deputy director, he didn't like subordinates coming to him directly, even if Luke had connections with him.

Luke bowed and said, "Director, there's something we need to report to you."

Thomas frowned. "Then write a report and send it to me."

Luke said, "No, director. I can't write a report."

Thomas: "Why?"

Luke said, "Officer Brock gave us a case to investigate the missing officers in Raccoon City. So, we went to Raccoon City yesterday."

Thomas was stunned. "And then?"

Luke said, "Raccoon City was razed to the ground by atomic weapons at around five in the morning. I don't think many of the people there survived. "

Thomas was stunned. "What?! Are you kidding? "

Luke said, "No, director. I'm sure you'll be able to find out the truth soon. I'm here to ask you how I should write my report on this case. "

Thomas's expression was gloomy.

He was not stupid.

By saying that, Luke might drag him in to share the risk.

But … how could he get away with it?

Thinking, he waved his hand. "Then don't write the report for now. Also, you and Selina should take a break … for three days. Have a good rest. Don't tell anyone about Raccoon City. Understand? "

Luke nodded. "Got it. Should I inform Officer Brock? "

Thomas waved his hand. "No need. I'll let him know. You stay in the break room and wait for my call. "

After they left, Thomas started to make calls.

In less than thirty minutes, he was sitting in his office in shock, and his forehead was covered in cold sweat.

A moment later, he suddenly came back to himself and cursed, "Brock, that idiot! How dare you use such petty tricks on my man! This guy isn't very capable, but he has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. "

What Thomas was actually angry about was that Brock had given Luke the case at such a coincidental time.

If it had been one day later, Thomas wouldn't have been so upset.

Well, fine. Thomas was actually a little angry, because he was the one who had started the case in the first place.

If he hadn't meddled, the Westside Police Department wouldn't have gone to Raccoon City to investigate at all.

Who knew that he would inexplicably screw himself over?

God knew how big of a problem this would be. A city had been razed to the ground, and there were tens of thousands of people inside.

It just so happened that two of his detectives had come out of Raccoon City. It was hard to say whether or not this would affect his position.

But could he blame himself? He obviously couldn't.

He was the deputy director. If anything was wrong, it was his men's fault.

Of course, Luke and Selina hadn't done anything wrong. Was he going to blame them for taking their work too seriously?

That was definitely Brock's fault.

If this guy hadn't tried to send Luke and Selina away to Raccoon City, Thomas wouldn't be in so much trouble right now.

From a young age, Brock had always been trying to make life difficult for Luke and Selina.

At the very least, he was going against Director Thomas.

Also, Brock wasn't his man, but Director Faraday's.

That was also why Brock had dared to target Luke.

As long as it was a normal job, Brock wasn't afraid of Thomas picking on him.

But now … Thomas sneered and called Brock to tell him that Luke and Selina were on a three-day break due to a special situation.

Then, Thomas began to use his connections to quickly inquire about the information in Raccoon City.

Luke and Selina came out and picked up some snacks from their desk, before they went to the temporary break room in the police department.

The break room was actually a corner on the side of the hall. There was a half-circle partition that blocked the view.

There were sofas, tables, and chairs here for a break or something to eat.

Luke and Selina didn't waste any time. They sat down at a small table and started eating.

Naturally, Luke ate chocolate. He had prepared a lot of high-calorie foods like that.

The police department was relatively safe. Umbrella Corporation wasn't crazy enough to raid the Houston Police Department yet. A company's style was different from that of a gang.

From the beginning to the end, Luke had only killed a few mercenaries from Umbrella. He hadn't even killed the supervisor.

At least two hundred mercenaries from Umbrella Corporation had died inside. Most of them had died when Umbrella Corporation threw them in for tests.

If Umbrella Corporation had caused trouble for Luke for these tools, it would've been a long time ago.

However, he still had the T-virus and the serum. Umbrella Corporation would definitely go crazy, but they probably wouldn't be able to trace it back to him for the time being.
