Chapter 397

Words:1765Update:22/06/26 10:54:32

Report

His subordinate's eyes glowed, and he quickly nodded and picked up the walkie-talkie. "Hey, we've got a big deal. The boss wants us to hurry up, or we won't have money to play with big butts tonight. "

The walkie-talkie was instantly filled with obscenities.

"You have a big butt. You can play with me."

"Damn it, aren't you the one who likes to be played?"

Big Nick cursed with a smile. He took one last look at the campsite and spat out a mouthful of smoke, and the three SUVs quickly left.

After the two groups of people left, everything was peaceful for the rest of the day.

Only two days later, Big Beard Nick called.

He said awkwardly, "Luke, um, I have something to tell you."

Luke said, "What is it?"

After a brief silence, Nick said in a low voice, "Last night, when we were arresting a bunch of weed dealers, there was a minor accident." He then fell silent again.

Luke asked, "So?"

Nick coughed and said, "There were six male suspects at the scene. When we arrested them, we had to kill three of them and heavily wound three. However, the other six female accomplices were caught in their own homes. "

Luke was stumped for a moment, but he immediately said, "Congratulations, you've done something great again. Were any of you hurt? "

Nick said, "No."

Luke said, "That's great."

He hung up after a few more words, lost for words.

Big Nick and his men were truly impatient. It had only been two days, and they had already wiped out the families of the kids who were growing and selling weed.

Also, the county officers were as simple and crude as ever. They killed all the male members of the gang with their guns, before they raided their homes and made a fortune.

Naturally, it was a little awkward for Nick to make the call.

They had agreed to send people to prison, but they had sent half of them to the morgue, which wasn't what they had agreed on.

Luke was delighted to see that.

He couldn't say to Nick, "You better get rid of them all," so it was enough for him to hint to Big Nick that the other party had money and goods.

In a cheerful mood, Luke sent the kids and teachers off on the school bus in the afternoon, and drove them back to Los Angeles.

At No. 37 High School, Juliet got out and hugged him. "You're a good kid. You can come to me if you need any help."

Luke thanked him with a smile and drove away.

He could roughly understand why Juliet was treating him so differently.

From other people, he learned that Juliet once had a brother who was in his first year of college last year. He went missing during a camping trip and was never found.

Of course, Luke and her brother didn't look alike, but they had similar temperaments and figures, which was why Juliet had a good impression of him.

After completing the mission, Luke went straight to the police department.

He walked to the desk and looked at Selena, who was reading files. He smiled and placed the box next to her and opened the lid.

His movements were light and quick, and Selina didn't notice it at all.

The next moment, her nose twitched, and she tilted her head to look at the open box. "Oh my god, am I dreaming? Did God answer my prayers? "

But she immediately understood. She turned around, only to see Luke smiling. She couldn't help but roll her eyes. "So it's not God."

Luke raised an eyebrow. "No?"

Selina had a strong will to live. "You're an angel. You must know that I'm hungry."

Luke raised his hand and showed her the boxes. "I bought them on the way here. Can you distribute them?"

Selina quickly got up and took the paper boxes from him. "Luke's treating us to doughnuts. Do you want any?"

Everybody in the office gathered around them.

But nobody fought for them.

Everybody knew that Luke and Selina never ran out of snacks.

In the end, only two and a half of the four boxes of donuts were distributed. There were only a dozen people in the team now, and two of them who liked sweets took two, or they wouldn't even be able to use the third box.

After greeting everybody with a smile, Luke gestured at Selina, and they went to Elsa's office with the last box and a half of donuts.

"Have you been busy in the last few days?" he asked Selina.

Selina said with a bitter expression, "Of course you've been fine. I've been in the office every day helping with the files, and haven't left the police department."

Luke said with a smile, "You're free now that I'm back."

Selina nodded. Working cases with Luke was much more comfortable than sitting in the office.

They always brought snacks in the car when they went out in the morning. The weather had been getting better recently, and they could have afternoon tea at a suitable place to bask in the sun for an hour or two.

In any case, they were the most efficient detectives in the Major Crimes Division. Nobody in the team had any objections whether they basked in the sun, ate opals, or drank cappuccinos.

As long as their efficiency was above average, things would be fine. If their work dragged on, they wouldn't be able to keep warm even if they worked overtime every day.

They entered Elsa's office, and Selina put a box and a half of donuts on the desk.

Elsa hesitated. "I've been trying to lose weight."

Luke chuckled. "This is a blueberry cheese doughnut. It's a special variety that I saved for you."

Elsa looked at the other box. "What about this one?"

Luke wasn't bothered. "It's a variety of regular flavors. There are four left. You can give them to Dustin if you want. "

After a brief silence, Elsa quickly put away the blueberry cheese doughnut. "Thank you for putting off my diet plan. What do you want now?"

Luke said, "For the cases. I can't work on the cases you gave me anymore. "

Elsa was lost for words.

The Elsworth family was involved in both the death of the girl in pajamas and the murder of the Texas ranger, which was something she hadn't expected.

Also, Palmer had said that she owed her a favor for the donut shop shooting and the oil truck robbery, so Luke couldn't pursue the case any further.

However, the Major Crimes Division didn't lack cases, and each one was more urgent than the last.

She moved a stack of files on her desk to Luke. "Do you want to take it easy or work hard?"

Luke didn't think much of it. He replied, "As long as it's not a case with no leads."

With a knowing expression, Elsa threw a file at him. "I've already saved it for you."

Luke said, "Thank you for your trust, boss."

A moment later, they left, and Elsa was relieved.

Luke had been away for a week, and she did have a few troublesome cases that were suitable for him to work on.

He was trustworthy.
