Bang!
Bang! Luke shot twice and killed a spider that had tried to ambush him from the top of the building. He then turned around and kicked the body of the spider away.
While lying on the ground, he turned his gun in another direction. Bang!
Bang! A spider that had jumped up from the other side of the wall was knocked down.
Luke let go of the M4A1 and let it hang in his hand. He adjusted his posture with both hands.
His right leg stabbed out like lightning, and before the spider's long claws closed in, he kicked the head of a spider that was pouncing at him.
His leather boots, which were made of a special alloy, crushed a part of the spider's head, and it crashed to the ground, exploding into a pile of mud.
Everybody on the second floor who was working together to pull the rope mumbled to themselves, What is he doing outside? Why is the rope swinging?
If it weren't for the four of them working together, they wouldn't have been able to hold the rope steady.
In fact, the series of attacks had only taken five seconds, and Luke was finally pulled to a window.
Grabbing the window, he nimbly crawled in and shouted, "Selina, tear gas."
Selina instantly understood. She took out a tear gas and threw it at the open space in front of the door.
Accompanied by the rising smoke, the ferocious tide of spiders suddenly stopped, and immediately became chaotic, scurrying in all directions.
Luke shouted, "Those with guns, attack! Don't let the spiders get in! Don't shoot too quickly. Take aim and shoot in groups of four. Take turns to shoot. Make sure you don't let the spiders in.
As he shouted, he ran past a few windows, took out his tear gas grenades, and threw them out.
He threw it slightly further away than Selina, about 20 meters away.
The rapidly rising smoke forced the spiders to circle around it before they could continue their attack, which indirectly limited their speed and movement.
Everybody in the building had already opened fire, but with Luke's reminder, they didn't shoot very quickly.
Of course, the smoke that Selina threw out was a little too close, and a few unlucky fellows accidentally smelled the smoke, and instantly retreated in tears to take a break.
That couldn't be helped.
Compared to the losses suffered by the spiders, the losses suffered by the townspeople could only be considered small.
After throwing the tear gas grenades, Luke had already reloaded all the guns he had on him.
After loading the shotgun, he tossed it to Selina.
With the defense of the shopping center and the cooperation of the townsfolk, the semi-automatic shotgun was more useful than the M4A1.
While observing the battle, he asked someone to find Samantha.
The beautiful sheriff also arranged for everyone to retreat deeper into the shopping center on the first floor. She also asked the remaining residents with guns to set up a line of defense to prevent the spiders from breaking in through the gate, which would kill a lot of people.
Soon, Samantha came up, and Luke quickly said, "I've asked the FBI for help, but it'll probably take them an hour at the earliest. We should be prepared to hold on for at least an hour. Moreover, he had to be mindful of an escape route. Where's Mayor Wade? Wasn't this his property? Let's ask him if there's a suitable exit route. "
His plan was to have Samantha lead everybody in a gradual retreat if something went wrong, and then blow up a few exits and exits so that the spiders wouldn't be able to get out in the short term.
But it was best to test Wade's attitude first. Luke had a feeling that the mayor wasn't easy to talk to.
It would be too disgusting if the mayor had to sue him for illegal destruction of private property and demand compensation.
Samantha said, "Okay, I'll go talk to Wade." She was about to leave.
Luke stopped her and took out a walkie-talkie from his backpack. "Take this with you. Just use the first channel."
Samantha was relieved. Running around to talk was too much of a waste, and it was easy for problems to arise.
The townsfolk downstairs were still in a state of shock. It was possible that they would all explode if anyone yelled "spiders are breaking in."
Seeing that the situation had stabilized for now, Luke told Selina and Samantha that he was going to check out the situation on the roof in case the spiders broke in from above.
Those guys could climb buildings.
The shopping center only had three floors, and it only took Luke a few steps to reach the third floor.
There was no telling what was wrong with Wade's mind, but he had somehow built a shopping center here. In the end, there were only shops on the first floor, and the second floor was mostly empty except for a few stacks of goods.
The third floor was even more ridiculous. It was a Clearwater Building with only the foundation and no decorations. The cement floor was still as rough as sand, and anyone who fell on it would break their skin.
There weren't even any windows in the building, so no spiders would be able to crawl in.
Muttering to himself about the mayor's business acumen, Luke went up the stairs to the door to the rooftop.
With his keen ears, he could already hear a lot of noises outside the door. That was the sound of spiders on the move.
Looking around, Luke didn't find anything suitable, so he simply took out a few long alloy wires from his inventory and used the pipes and handrails to block the door.
That way, even if the door was destroyed, the giant spiders' legs would still be cut off by the wires.
After that, he set up a camera on a pillar more than ten meters away from the rooftop door before going downstairs.
He couldn't go to the roof, and opening the door would create an opening for the spiders. So, it was better for him to go down to the second floor and fight a protracted battle with the spiders.
On the second floor, he found that most people were wearing earphones.
Samantha had found them in the shop downstairs. It was a little hard for one's ears to fire continuously in an enclosed space, but it was bearable with the earphones on.
It was better to be uncomfortable than to be eaten by the spiders.
Samantha, however, said over the walkie-talkie, "Luke, Wade is missing. Someone said that there's a cave under the storeroom. It's a branch of a mine. "
Luke was stunned. "A mine? Right here? "
This was the center of the town. How could there be a mine? That wasn't in the files he had read about mines before.
Chris suddenly interjected and quickly explained, "This town was originally a workers' settlement built on top of a mine where a gold mine was discovered. But this old mine has been abandoned for decades, and isn't marked on the map. Wade's shopping center is right above the old mine. "
Luke was enlightened. "What do you think?"
Samantha had clearly mentioned the old mine not because she was concerned about Wade's safety, but because a lot of people in town would probably have a Barbie party to celebrate Wade's death.
