It was already 3pm by the time they arrived back in City S.
Min Yu received Zhuo Yun's call the moment he got off the plane. Just as he was about to speak to Huo Yao, Huo Yulin stepped between them and said, "Leave if you have something to do. Someone will pick you up."
Min Yu had overheard his conversation.
Min Yu put his phone away and glanced at Huo Yulin. He smiled faintly and replied, "Okay."
The coldness in Huo Yulin's eyes faded away after Min Yu left.
Huo Yao took in his expression and raised her brow. "Brother Yulin, you seem to have a problem with Min Yu."
Huo Yulin straightened his back and did not reveal much emotion on his handsome face. He said calmly, "It's not that I have a problem with him. I just think he's a little scheming."
He paused before he added in a serious tone. "Yao, you have to be careful in the future."
Huo Yao's phone rang in her pocket. She replied vaguely to Huo Yulin before she took out her phone and answered the call. She said a few words before hanging up. "Let's go. Brother Tingrui is waiting for us in the parking lot."
With that, she pulled her suitcase and walked out.
Huo Yulin did not say anything and followed behind her.
Before long, they found Huo Tingrui in the parking lot. He looked haggard and had dark circles under his eyes after a few days of not seeing him. He was a classic case of staying up late.
Huo Yao placed her suitcase in the trunk and glanced at Huo Tingrui. She asked him with concern. "Brother Tingrui, have you been busy lately?"
Huo Tingrui adjusted his spectacles and opened the front passenger seat for her to get in before he replied. "Yeah. I have too many things to deal with at the end of the year."
Huo Yao nodded and got into the car. "No matter how busy you are, you have to rest."
"Yulin, sit in the back," said Huo Tingrui to Huo Yulin. Then he walked around the front of the car and sat in the driver's seat.
Huo Yulin stood quietly by the roadside for two seconds before he opened the back door.
Huo Tingrui kept talking to Huo Yao in the car and asked her about the old lady. Huo Yulin, who was sitting in the back, had no time to interrupt.
He felt like an invisible person.
It was already 4 pm by the time he got home. Huo Tingrui helped his grandmother carry the souvenirs into the house before he headed back to the office.
Huo Yao thought about Huo Yulin as she followed him out.
Huo Yao said, "Brother Tingrui, we bumped into Lu Xia on our way back."
Huo Tingrui subconsciously frowned. "Did Third Brother and Lu Xia meet?"
"Yes." Huo Yao's eyes lit up before she asked. "So Brother Yulin's illness has something to do with Lu Xia?"
Huo Tingrui glanced at Huo Yao. He knew that she was meticulous, so he went quiet for a few seconds before he nodded and said frankly, "If it weren't for her, Yulin wouldn't have suffered so much."
"What exactly happened?" asked Huo Yao.
Huo Tingrui leaned against the car and sighed softly. "I'm not too sure about the details. All I know is that after Yulin was rescued, he suffered from severe autism for two years. He wouldn't tell me anything."
Huo Tingrui paused as he recalled the past. He looked a little sad and upset. After some time, he continued. "Later on, I noticed the intense hatred in his eyes whenever he looked at Xiaxia. That's when I realized that the kidnapping case wasn't as simple as it seemed..."
