Huo Yao nodded slightly and greeted him politely. "Hello, Old Mr. Pei."

Old Mr. Pei waved his hand and hurriedly gestured for her to sit down. He poured her tea and started reminiscing about the past.

He was too embarrassed to discuss medicine with Huo Yao again because of what happened to his second son, Pei Feng.

"Did you come to the capital for a patient?" Huo Yao was still very respectful to Old Mr. Pei and did not take what had happened to her to heart.

Old Mr. Pei nodded and did not hide the truth. "Yeah. There's a patient in Sea City General Hospital with a rare disease, so I invited him over."

Huo Yao held the teacup and gently rubbed the sides of the cup with her fingertips. She smiled and said, "It's mainly because you're a senior in the Chinese medicine industry."

Old Mr. Pei could not help laughing and shook his head. He sighed. "Compared to your medical skills, mine is nothing."

She was such an amazing young lady. It was a pity that the Pei family was not qualified to learn from her.

Old Mr. Pei felt indescribably regretful.

Huo Yao glanced at Old Mr. Pei and said, "You flatter me."

Old Mr. Pei continued smiling. Suddenly, his phone rang in his pocket.

It was Pei Rong.

Soon, he picked up the call, but he didn't say much before hanging up.

Old Mr. Pei's eyes narrowed. He put his phone away and continued chatting with Huo Yao. "Oh yes. How is Young Master Min doing?"

The moment Min Yu was mentioned, Huo Yao recalled that he did not reply to her WeChat messages in the afternoon. She paused before she nodded and replied to Old Mr. Pei. "He's fine."

She wondered what he was busy with.

Huo Yao pondered before she took out her phone from her pocket. There were no missed calls or new WeChat messages.

Everyone seemed to be busy with something recently. Those who did not receive any messages were not receiving any, while those who did not reply to her messages were not replying either.

After dinner, Huo Yao noticed that Old Mr. Pei seemed a little out of sorts after taking a call, so she quickly paid the bill without saying much.

Huo Yao planned to hail a cab home after leaving the restaurant. However, she bumped into Pei Rong at the entrance.

Old Mr. Pei hesitated before he turned to look at Huo Yao and said, "Little Master Huo, where do you live? Why don't I get Pei Rong to send you home?"

Pei Rong's eyes landed on Huo Yao too. He said politely, "Yeah. Let me give you a ride." Huo Yao nodded.

Huo Yao placed her hands in the pockets of her jacket. The cold wind blew her hair into a mess. She glanced at Pei Rong calmly and rejected him. "Thanks. I'll just take a cab."

She nodded at Old Mr. Pei and walked towards the side of the road without waiting for him to say anything else. Her back view was cold and aloof.

Pei Rong narrowed his eyes. This girl was as cold as ever.

Old Mr. Pei veered his eyes and did not pay much attention to his eldest son's expression. He merely said, "Let's go."

Soon, the two of them got into the car.

Pei Rong started the engine and drove away from the restaurant's parking lot. He raised his eyes to look at the rearview mirror. "Dad, are you close with that girl?"

Old Mr. Pei contemplated for a moment before he replied calmly. "Not really. It's just that we haven't seen each other in a while. Let's have dinner together."

Pei Rong held the steering wheel with a deep look in his eyes. He pretended that his father was trying to distance himself from Huo Yao and said, "I heard from Feng that you sold her medicinal herbs at a low price and asked her to teach him some pharmacology."

Old Mr. Pei frowned. He did not expect his second son to have the cheek to mention this in front of his eldest son.
