About 10 minutes later, Huo Tingrui served the noodles and placed them on the table. "Try it and see if it tastes good."

Huo Yao picked up her chopsticks and took a bite. She raised her head and said in a muffled voice, "It's not bad."

Huo Tingrui sat down on a nearby chair and raised his brow proudly. "Of course. I learned how to cook when I was eight."

Huo Tingrui was an experienced chef with more than a decade of cooking experience.

Huo Yao could not help falling into deep thought.

She seemed to have blown up the clan's medicine refinery several times when she was eight.

"Oh yes. Yesterday at the hospital, Old Madam asked me to take care of you after you went to the washroom. I felt something was amiss at the time, so I wanted to mention it to you, but I forgot about it later."

Huo Tingrui smiled apologetically. "I didn't know Old Madam was planning to leave. If I had been more careful yesterday, this would not have happened."

Huo Yao's hands paused. She looked at Huo Tingrui, who was blaming himself, and said calmly, "Brother Tingrui, you don't have to blame yourself. Even if it didn't happen yesterday, what happened today would have happened anyway. She isn't used to living here anyway, so it's good that she went back home."

Huo Tingrui smiled bitterly and shook his head. "I was supposed to comfort you, but now you're the one comforting me."

Huo Yao smiled and lowered her head to continue eating.

Huo Tingrui looked at his quiet little sister with mixed feelings.

Even when Huo Yanxi questioned her, she had never panicked. She was as calm as an adult. If this had happened to Lu Xia, she would have cried and complained about it, not to mention that it was all a misunderstanding.

It was said that crybaby always got candy. His cutie was stubborn and never cried, so it was no wonder that she was at a disadvantage.

Huo Tingrui sighed silently. Then he chatted with Huo Yao about trivial matters but did not mention Huo Yanxi at all.

The next afternoon, Huo Yao walked out of the venue after the comprehensive arts and science exams. Lu Xia, who was waiting in the corridor, walked over to her when she saw her.

"Can we talk?" Lu Xia looked at Huo Yao without any expression on her face. However, her voice sounded condescending.

Huo Yao raised her eyelids lazily and replied impatiently. "I'm busy."

With that, she brushed past him.

Lu Xia narrowed her eyes. She turned around and caught up with Huo Yao. "No matter what, you have returned to the Huo family now. Don't get involved in my grandmother's affairs. It will be good for you, the Lu family, and the Huo family. After all, you don't want to see any misunderstandings and unhappiness because of you, right?"

Huo Yao halted and glanced sideways at her coldly. "Are you trying to teach me how to behave?"

Lu Xia was stunned by his look. She came to her senses and said coldly, "I just want to tell you not to be too greedy."

Huo Yao's lips curved into a playful smile. "That sounds interesting." She chuckled before she veered her eyes indifferently and continued walking.

Lu Xia frowned and looked at Huo Yao's back. She did not chase after her. Suddenly, she recalled Huo Yanxi's strange attitude when she called him last night to explain herself. She contemplated for a moment before she turned around and walked down the other hallway.
