Chapter 120

Report

The person who called Huo Yao was none other than the nurse who had failed to catch up with her.

Huo Yao hailed a cab and returned to the hospital. On the way there, He Xiaoman called her countless times, but Huo Yao did not pick up a single call. In the end, Huo Yao blacklisted her number.

"Miss Huo, I'm sorry. I should have called you earlier, but something came up and I couldn't make it." The nurse looked at Huo Yao apologetically as she handed the letter to her.

Huo Yao took the letter and said politely, "It's fine. Thank you."

"You're welcome." The nurse smiled.

Huo Yao took the letter and walked away before she turned around to look at the nurse. "Did my grandmother get discharged on her own?"

The nurse shook her head. "I'm not sure. I'm on night duty today, so I wasn't around in the morning." She paused before she continued. "Why don't I ask my colleague?"

A look of disappointment flashed across Huo Yao's eyes. She shook her head and said no. Then she turned to leave.

There were public benches in the Inpatient Department's landscaped area. Huo Yao took one and sat down before opening the letter.

[Yaoyao, I'm going back to my hometown. Take good care of yourself and don't worry about me. I'll take care of myself. I'm waiting for you to bring home an international trophy.]

There was very little content in the letter, and the handwriting was ugly. She could even tell that the writer's movements were slow and stiff. At the corner of the page where the signature was written, there was a mark left by a dried up ink.

Huo Yao's heart ached a little. She could almost imagine how her grandmother must have felt when she wrote the letter.

The days when she and the old lady depended on each other flashed before her eyes like a fleeting movie. Although she had only been with the old lady for a year, this year was the most peaceful time of her life.

Huo Yao raised her head, and her eyes flickered. The dim street light shone on her face, making her look warm and lonely.

"It's rare to see you like this."

Suddenly, a voice filled with ridicule resounded, tearing apart the tranquility of this place.

Huo Yao slowly turned her head and saw Min Yu's exquisite face. His slender figure was elongated as he crossed his arms in front of his chest lazily. She had no idea how long he had been standing there.

Huo Yao frowned slightly. She folded the letter unhurriedly and asked quizzically. "Why are you here?"

Min Yu raised his brow. "If I hadn't been here, I would have missed out on your helpless and pitiful side today."

Huo Yao stood up and walked up to Min Yu slowly. She stared at him with her large eyes and said coldly, "You can't see clearly. Let me get closer so you can take a better look."

Min Yu's lips twitched as he looked at the girl sitting right in front of him. Her face was full of arrogance. She was not as quiet as she had been when she was sitting there. He raised his hand and laughed. "Okay. My bad."

Huo Yao chuckled softly and looked away. However, a thought suddenly flashed across her mind.

Suddenly, her eyes landed on Min Yu's face. "Did you help my grandma get discharged?"
