Laybit and the princess of the Curly-Horns had been on the run for almost half an hour since Rangka volunteered to cover their retreat.
Even so, they were not able to escape, and were instead caught in danger once again.
"No, that thing is catching up!"
The rabbit ears on Laybit's head perked up. It turned around slightly and sensed a strange sound.
While the unicorn was adept at sprinting and not slow, it was an ordinary wild animal that had neither mana nor divine favor. It couldn't keep running at top speed for long, and would need to rest for a while before continuing.
Moreover, it was carrying two people at the moment. Even if Laybit and Princess Mianya weighed less than fifty kilograms each, their combined weight was almost two hundred kilograms. The unicorn's innate ability to run for such a long distance was already the reason why it was gifted. After all, it was a mount for the princess, and its bloodline must be excellent.
But compared to the Demonic Beasts, they were clearly not just a little bit inferior.
Gurozlan was an elephant-snake that lived in the swamps beneath Mount Vierlin. While it was a magical beast that didn't have great speed, it was more mobile than most animals thanks to the mana in its body. Otherwise, the tall and burly Sultan of the Rhinoceros Horn tribe wouldn't have chosen it as his mount.
Rangka was already doing better than he should (actually, it was because he had become a believer of the God of Games) to be able to hold out for half an hour without being caught.
"There's no other way." Laybit sighed, and told the panicking girl in front of him. "Keep running toward the Dark Tide Coast. It'll be fine as long as we can reach the Long Ears' lands."
"Wait a minute, don't tell me you also want to …" The little princess of the Curly Curls Clan immediately guessed what Laybi was planning to do, and couldn't help but become even more panicked. She tried to persuade him, "Tell me, maybe there is another way, now is not the time to give up!"
"It's too late to do anything now. This is the only choice I have." Laybit could see the current situation clearly.
The Rhinoceros Horn tribe wasn't here to persuade them to surrender, but to hunt down the messengers of the oppressed nonhuman tribes. That was why surrendering would be meaningless, and it was better to make his death count than to be killed without putting up a fight.
"That being said, Swordtail Grayclaw's scheme would be exposed sooner if you could reach our lands. So don't stop!"
With those words, Laybit leapt off the unicorn antelope, ignoring the Curly-Horns princess' urging. After rolling on the ground to deflect the force, he stood steadily in front of the terrifying elephant-snake, Gurozlan.
As mentioned before, the sultan was relying entirely on Gurozlan to catch up to Laybit. In other words, none of the other Rhinoceros Horn tribe had the ability to catch up to them. In other words, the only thing Laybit had to face was the sultan and his mount.
"Another long-eared trash. I smashed the head of the last long-eared trash. How long can you last under my blade?" The Sultan looked at Bi, who was showing his hostility, like a rhinoceros looking at a rabbit that was baring its fangs at it. He did not feel the slightest threat.
Although he had already guessed it, Laybit still felt sorrow when the truth came out of his mouth.
Although Laybit had already guessed it, when the truth came out from the man's mouth, Laybit still felt sad.
Even so, he didn't have the luxury of sorrow because the enemy was already approaching.
The Rhinoceros Horn tribe's expression became even more disdainful as he watched Laybit draw out a long, thin staff that resembled a pointer.
"You're so thin and frail. You wouldn't break my defenses even if I stood still!"
As if to prove that he wasn't lying, the Rhinoceros Horn tribe really did assume a standard stance and taunted Laybit, who didn't dare to make the first move. "Do it if you dare!"
Be that as it may, there was a flash of red light, and a blood-red mark was swiftly drawn across the sultan's chest. Blood more viscous than human blood poured out of the wound, causing the Rhinoceros Horn warrior to growl in pain and rage.
The Elephant Snake Gurozlan, who was looking for a chance to prey on the Unicorn Charging Antelope, Princess Mian Ya, who was running away, and Laybit, who was ready to die, were all stunned by the sudden turn of events.
A moment later, Laybit was the first to recover. He waved the bamboo whip in his hand and slashed at the wound on the sultan's chest. However, the latter gave him a flying kick and sent him flying more than ten meters away. He fell to the ground and vomited blood. There were pieces of organs mixed in the blood, and he seemed to be badly injured.
"Who ambushed me!?" The sultan continued to roar.
"Didn't you tell me to do it?"
A slightly indifferent but rather rough voice of a man rang out.
The sultan looked in the direction of the voice. To his left, an Inhuman had appeared out of nowhere.
The man had a thick mane around his neck, and his face looked slightly like a lion's. However, compared to an ordinary Lion Man, his appearance was more on the human side.
At the moment, red flames were rising from the man's body, and the longsword in his hand was flashing with a bone-chilling cold light.
"The Gray Claw Tribe? Why would you appear in a place like this? Are you here to inspect our work or to obstruct us?! " The sultan pressed down on his bleeding wound and hissed. "Don't you know that we're here on Swordtail's orders …"
It should be mentioned that Vulcan Cherda was standing behind Zonyan, who was using a potion to heal Laybit who was on the verge of death.
The effect of the potion was as outstanding as ever, and Laybit who had been vomiting blood soon recovered. Though he wasn't alive and kicking, his life was at least saved.
As for the little princess of the Curly Curls Clan, she didn't run far after realizing that the situation had changed. She just stayed a little distance away from the battlefield and watched as the situation continued to change. She didn't know whether she should continue to run or not and could only continue to wait and see.
"Hmph. So, you're that Grayclaw traitor? Very well. Let me see what you're made of, and make you realize that your triangular cat's kungfu is no match for Lord Swordtail! "The Rhinoceros Horn Warrior roared." Fear my bravery! "
"Bring it on." Zonyan Grayclaw said to Sultan the Rhinoceros Horn Warrior, brandishing his sword a little. "But you'll be cut into pieces in the next split second!" * * *
