It was in the depths of a dark dungeon.
Unlike many dungeons that adventurers would grind like meat or something, this dungeon was a rare living thing.
Indeed, it was an animal that could adjust its form and even move on its own.
Be that as it may, it was still a dungeon at its core and would obey the orders of superior monsters. That was precisely why humans could not control many dungeons despite having thoroughly studied them, and could only passively destroy the monsters that spawned within and inefficiently gather materials that were not particularly valuable.
And yet, this dungeon was different.
"You're late."
A man wearing a bamboo hat and sitting on the main seat spoke coldly in a room at the dungeon core.
There was no one else in the room apart from him, but his aura was abruptly rising. Even if he did not move a single finger, it was as if he was facing a great foe, and would burst out at any moment to tear his foe apart.
A moment later, a black shadow wriggled in the empty space he was staring at. Finally, a man wearing a black cloak slowly walked out from the shadows.
"The Brilliant White Church and the Temple of Glory have been keeping a tight watch lately …" The cloaked man said, spreading his hands. "You know that even I can't ignore the archbishop they sent."
"Hmph. You're quite the failure as Valla's king." The man sneered.
Valla's new Emperor pulled off his cloak, revealing an unhappy expression as he stared at the man in the hat. "So, you're going to continue with that foolish plan?"
"Foolish?" Though he could not see the man's expression, Valla's new Emperor could sense a flash of killing intent.
If he didn't give a good explanation, that murderous intent would turn into a substance.
"The Brilliant White Church and the Temple of Glory are both churches of God the Father, and they're probably prepared for a divine war. Moreover, I've received a tip that the Secret Eye Society is planning to cause trouble in this period as well … "
"It's good enough that I could keep Valla from civil strife under such circumstances," the new Emperor said. "I don't have the strength to help you lot."
"Fennia's Silveroak Lodge isn't a place you can come and go as you please," the man in the hat said quietly. The man in the bamboo hat said in a deep voice, "Don't forget who helped you in the dark to become the king of that country."
"… I have no intention of breaking ties with your noble society." Valla's new Emperor frowned. If his ministers could see him swallowing humiliation despite being a tyrant, their jaws would probably drop. "But I have my own considerations."
"Enough, I'm tired of listening to your excuses. Give us a straightforward answer. Are you going to agree to or reject our request?"
The man in the hat had no intention of feigning civility with Valla's new Emperor, and went straight to the point.
Valla's new Emperor lowered his head humbly, but there was an expression of immeasurable rage and hatred on his face.
But very quickly, he raised his head again as if nothing had happened. "Your esteemed society's request, I naturally agree to it. "Valla, of Emperor," he said.
He pretended to be bitter and said, "After all, I'm being watched by the archbishops of the two churches. I can't do too much."
"Don't worry, it's just some obstacles," the man in the bamboo hat said in a clear voice.
But just as Valla's Emperor breathed a sigh of relief and assumed that the man had given up, the Bamboo Hat Man continued, "You're just an archbishop. Neither the Brilliant White Church nor the Temple of Glory would be my match!"
But just as Valla's new Emperor breathed a sigh of relief and assumed that the man had given up, the man in the hat continued. "But it's just an archbishop. Neither the Brilliant White Church nor the Temple of Glory would be a match for me!" Fanny and the Silver Oak Society were lunatics if they dared to provoke the Brilliant White Church and the Temple of Glory!
"But hasn't Aojo Johann Dhana sacrificed himself?
"But your society's Aojo John Dana has already sacrificed himself, hasn't he? If one of the three priests is missing, even if the plan succeeds, you won't be able to fulfill your wishes … "He said, trying his best to dispel the thought of assassinating the two archbishops.
After all, even if this guy really succeeded in his sneak attack, the two archbishops would die in the Imperial City, and he would never be able to clear his name, just like the yellow mud that fell into his pants!
Fine. Being a peripheral member of Fanny's Silver Oak Society, he certainly wasn't innocent.
"You don't have to worry about that. We've already found a replacement. You just have to be yourself." The man in the hat said in dissatisfaction, perhaps noticing that the new Emperor was trying to evade.
Valla's new Emperor didn't dare to question him further.
"I'm sorry. I'm just shocked by the ambition of your society," he said, trying to salvage the situation. "It's about 'killing all gods'."
In truth, Fanny's Silver Oak Society didn't really want to kill all gods. They themselves had a single target of worship — Fanny, the young girl who was spurned by the gods and turned into an evil god.
However, she perished too quickly, so praying to her had no effect.
That way, Fanny's Silver Oak Society simply couldn't stand against the believers of other gods.
Then, at some point in time, they suddenly learned to direct their faith to another being. It wasn't a god, but one of the founders of Fanny's Silver Oak Society, a nameless high elf.
According to historical records, it should have lived in an era so ancient that even the elves had been dead for hundreds of years.
Even though that was the case, if one prayed to it, one would receive a response and obtain a miraculous power.
As the number of prayers increased, the prayers of Fanny's Silver Oak Society members gradually changed as well. The nameless elf vanished from their prayers, replaced by a being called 'Thousand Crowns'.
Not long ago, the members of Fennia's Silver Oak Society had received an oracle from Thousand Crown. The world was about to undergo a great change, and this was the best time for the Silver Oak Society to rise up and kill every single deity!
Unlike peripheral members like Valla's new Emperor who still had concerns and restraints, the man in the hat and the other inner members of Fanny's Silver Oak Society had long since become fanatics and prepared for war!
"First of all, as I've told you before, the final straw to ignite the divine war has been prepared. What you need to do now is to dispatch an army to the volcanic zone and capture Ignizdorag's believers … no, the maggots of the original believers!"
"I know. It's already been arranged." Valla's new Emperor nodded.
"Do your best." The man in the hat's voice became lighter. "We have high hopes for you."
