Throughout dinner, Song Qingchun stood beside the table like a little maid. When Su Zhinian's bowl ran out of soup, she would fill it up immediately, and when it ran out of rice, she would fill it up.
When Su Zhinian was eating, he glanced at Song Qingchun. When the girl met his gaze, she immediately lowered her head. He stared at her for a while, but in the end, he swallowed the words that were at the tip of his tongue. He turned his head away and continued to eat silently, allowing her to stand beside him and watch him eat.
After Su Zhinian finished his dinner, he left the dining room and turned into the bathroom next to it.
When Su Zhinian came out of the bathroom after rinsing his mouth, he glanced into the dining room and saw Song Qingchun sitting alone at the large dining table, eating the leftovers that he had left behind.
Normally, he would sit at the dining table alone, so he did not feel like he had much time on his hands.
Perhaps it was because she was so small and frail, he actually felt sorry for her.
Su Zhinian stood there for a long time before turning to leave.
After Song Qingchun finished her meal, she cleaned up the kitchen and dining room. Then, holding the fruit platter, she carefully walked toward the living room.
The television was still on, broadcasting commercials. Su Zhinian was holding a document in his hands, but he did not look at it. Instead, he turned to look out the window like he was deep in thought, and his brows were slightly furrowed.
Song Qingchun placed the fruit platter on the coffee table and reminded him softly, "Mr. Su, the fruit."
Su Zhinian's long lashes flickered twice before he slowly turned his head around. He nodded at Song Qingchun and returned his attention to the document in his hands.
The room was quiet. Other than the faint sound from the television, there was only the sound of Su Zhinian's hands flipping through the pages.
Su Zhinian did not look at the document for long before turning his head back to the window.
The light in the room was still on, and the window was like a mirror, reflecting the scene in the room clearly.
He saw Song Qingchun leaning against the wall far away from him. Her head was lowered, and she was looking at her phone.
She seemed to be chatting with someone. Her fingers kept tapping on the screen of her phone, and the corners of her lips curled up from time to time.
She was probably tired from standing in the same position for too long. When she changed her position, she raised her head slightly, and her eyes happened to glance at the window. Su Zhinian was one step ahead of her. He turned his head around silently and flipped through the document in his hands. He stared at the black letters on the page for a while before suddenly saying in a light voice, "Brew a cup of coffee."
Perhaps it was because the room had been quiet for too long, Su Zhinian's sudden words caught Song Qingchun off guard. She raised her head and stared at him for a long time before she replied with an "oh". She shoved the phone into her pocket and walked into the dining room.
Song Qingchun walked to Su Zhinian with the coffee. She was about to place it on the coffee table when the man reached out for her.
Song Qingchun immediately passed the coffee cup to Su Zhinian.
When Su Zhinian accepted the cup, he accidentally brushed against Song Qingchun's fingertip. Song Qingchun's hand shook, and half of the coffee spilled out onto Su Zhinian's pants.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Su." Song Qingchun looked at Su Zhinian's face with fear. She immediately placed the coffee cup on the coffee table and pulled out a napkin to wipe it off his pants.
