Xu Jiamu felt a dull pain in his heart. His footsteps paused for a moment, then he slowly walked over to Song Xiangsi.
Song Xiangsi lifted her head when she heard the sound. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, as though she was confused as to how Xu Jiamu had found her.
Xu Jiamu didn't make a sound, he just reached out and grabbed her hand. He forcefully pulled her up from the ground, pulled her into his embrace, and gave her a deep hug. In a low voice, he said, "Cry."
As he said this, Xu Jiamu hugged her tightly. "If you want to cry, cry all you want in my arms, I'll be here with you."
Song Xiangsi had been hiding there crying for over two hours. Her tears had long dried up, but when she leaned into his embrace and heard his words, her eyes welled up again. Her tears were like pearls from a broken necklace, falling down like a broken dam. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop the tears. In the end, she cried out loud.
The rain grew heavier, and the sound of the wind, rain, thunder, and Song Xiangsi's cries entered his ears.
From start to finish, Xu Jiamu didn't say a single word, just quietly hugged her.
He remembered that many years ago, on the night his mother passed away, she had also quietly stayed by his side.
That night, his originally sorrowful heart was soothed by a lot because of her.
Now, it was his turn to stay by her side.
After a long while, Song Xiangsi finally stopped crying. Xu Jiamu wasn't in a hurry to pull her out of his embrace, he continued to hug her. After about ten minutes of silence, he gently lowered his head and raised his hand to wipe the tears from her face. Then, he held her hand and silently pulled her out of the cypress forest.
Song Xiangsi, who had always been a proud queen, was now incredibly obedient. She didn't struggle, nor was she arrogant. Just like that, she allowed Xu Jiamu to pull her, and followed behind him.
When they got home, Xu Jiamu first ran a hot bath for Song Xiangsi, then went to the kitchen to cook a bowl of ginger soup.
Song Xiangsi practically hadn't eaten all day, but when she saw the ginger soup, she didn't reject it at all. She gently gulped it down in mouthfuls.
After she finished the ginger soup, Xu Jiamu asked, "Do you want to eat something?"
Song Xiangsi gave a light nod.
Xu Jiamu immediately smiled. "What do you want to eat?"
"Sweet and sour fish..." After Song Xiangsi said it, she hesitantly tried to correct herself, but Xu Jiamu immediately nodded and said, "Alright, I'll make it for you."
Song Xiangsi sat in the living room, watching as Xu Jiamu busily ran back and forth in his drenched clothes. Her gaze froze.
The sweet and sour fish was quickly served by Xu Jiamu. He handed her a pair of chopsticks, a bowl, and occasionally reminded her to be careful of the fish bones.
From start to finish, Song Xiangsi just lowered her head and silently ate the fish. When Xu Jiamu suddenly picked up his chopsticks and picked another fish bone from her bowl, she finally raised her head to look at him and said, "Go take a shower."
"Alright." Xu Jiamu nodded. He stared at Song Xiangsi for a while, then stood up and walked into the bathroom.
When Xu Jiamu came out, Song Xiangsi was no longer in the living room. Under the table, there was about half a fish left on the plate, and the chopsticks were thrown crookedly to the side.
