"Are you busy later?" When Xu Jiamu's voice fell, Lu Jinnian's calm voice came through the phone, mixed with a low murmur. It sounded like he was in a meeting.

Xu Jiamu shook his head slightly, pushing aside his chaotic thoughts and regaining his composure. "I'm not busy, what's wrong?"

"If you're not busy, go pick Little Rice Cake up. I have a client and can't leave. The Qiao family just called to say that Father Qiao's health isn't good, so Qiao Qiao went over." Lu Jinnian gave him a simple description of the situation, then said to the person beside him, "This plan isn't good, redo it."

When he finished, Lu Jinnian asked again, "Is there a problem?"

Xu Jiamu replied, "No."

After hanging up, Xu Jiamu glanced at the time. It was already past the end of kindergarten, so he hurriedly started the car and drove towards the kindergarten.

There was a little traffic jam on the way. When Xu Jiamu arrived, only the principal and a teacher were left playing games with Little Rice Cake and a pretty little girl.

Xu Jiamu had brought Little Rice Cake to the kindergarten a few times, so the principal recognized him. When he saw him enter, he immediately said, "Little Rice Cake, your uncle is here to pick you up."

Little Rice Cake lifted his head, and called out in a soft voice, "Uncle."

He continued to sit on the carpet, playing with the little girl with two pigtails. He didn't seem to have any intention of packing his bag and leaving.

Xu Jiamu had always doted on Little Rice Cake to no end, so he walked over to Little Rice Cake's bag without a hint of anger. He helped him stuff everything into the bag, then carried it with one hand over to Little Rice Cake. He knelt down and said to him, "Little Rice Cake, let's go home."

Little Rice Cake held onto the plasticine, and glanced over at Little Red Bean, who was playing with the building blocks. He then turned to Xu Jiamu and said politely, "Uncle, can we wait for a while before leaving?"

Xu Jiamu looked at Little Rice Cake silently, patiently waiting for him to tell him the reason.

"Uncle, Little Red Bean's mother hasn't come to pick her up yet. If I leave, she'll be the only one left in the kindergarten. Let's wait for her mother to come before we leave, okay?"

Little Red Bean... What a special name... It instantly reminded Xu Jiamu of a poem called "Lovesickness": Red beans grow in the South, how many do they sprout in spring? May you pluck as many of them as you can, for they are the most yearning.

Perhaps it was because of her name, but Xu Jiamu paid special attention to Little Red Bean. She looked to be about the same age as Little Rice Cake, with a round face and fair skin. He liked her at first glance.

The president noticed that Xu Jiamu was silent for a long while, so he couldn't help but say, "Little Red Bean's mother might be busy, so she couldn't come to pick her up. She called, but no one picked up. Little Rice Cake and Little Red Bean are close, so he might want to accompany her."

When Xu Jiamu heard the dean's words, he instantly snapped back to reality. His gaze continued to stare at Little Red Bean for a few more seconds before he turned his head and nodded at the dean. "I'll stay a little longer, is that okay?"

"No problem," the dean replied with a smile.

"Then you can go ahead if you have something to do. I'll look after the two kids," said Xu Jiamu.

The dean continued to smile, and stayed in the classroom for a while before leaving.

The two kids played harmoniously, and Xu Jiamu didn't have to worry at all.

Time ticked by, and when the sun set, Little Red Bean's mother still hadn't come to pick her up.
