Rania jogged down the street.

She was wearing a red windbreaker and jeans. Her hood and backpack swung behind her. Her fluffy curly hair bounced, and her black-rimmed glasses slipped off her nose. Rania had to hold her glasses as she ran.

Her speed was not fast. It was about the same as a normal person's stride. But for some reason, the little girl could not run steadily. She bumped into people again and again as if she did not see them. Others were fine, but she stumbled and fell forward first. When she finally stabilized herself, she immediately turned around and apologized in a low voice. Then she continued to run forward amidst the complaints.

For a few blocks, Rania ran like a dizzy bee. She was dizzy and spun around. When she reached her destination, she held her knees in front of the bar and gasped for breath. Her hair was messy, and her glasses were crooked. Those who did not know would think that she had just rolled on the ground like a kitten or a puppy.

Rania was used to her weak body. She could not do any strenuous exercise since she was a child. She could not even breathe after running. Unfortunately, there was no medical record to prove her weakness. It seemed that she was inexplicably physically weak. She could not even apply for a physical education exemption.

She managed to catch her breath. She pulled the strap of her backpack and tried to straighten her chest. Listening to the faint loud bangs coming from the bar, she pushed the door open and went in.

The bar was very lively.

The surroundings were a mess. Tables and chairs were overturned. Expensive alcohol flowed freely. Men in twos and threes were moaning on the glass shards. Blood splattered everywhere.

Rania stood at the door. She hesitated and cautiously did not step in. She looked over the human figures on the ground and looked at the bar.

In the dim red light, a tall and slender figure stood in the shadow of the bar. She looked down at the men at her feet and indifferently wiped the back of her hand with a tissue.

The light was shaking so much that her face was hidden in the shadows. It was hard to see her face clearly. Only her eyes seemed to be burning with a cold golden light that was as sharp as the surface of broken ice.

The noise attracted everyone's attention. The girls at the bar also looked at the door. A waitress recognized Rania and hurriedly ran over. She hurriedly explained, "Rania, these men touched me, so Mister …"

Rania said, "I know."

She pulled her backpack to her chest and looked down for her wallet. "I'm here for compensation. How many facilities did she destroy? "

The little girl's voice was cold and clear. Her tone was flat. Unfortunately, she had a pretty face. Even if she put on a serious expression, she still looked soft and unconvincing.

Obviously, Jenny thought so too. Looking at Rania's hairy hair, her heart softened. She couldn't help but hug the little girl in front of her. "No, how can we let you pay for it? We can't drive customers away. Without Mister, we can't do anything to them …"

Lania was caught off guard as she was hugged. She was stunned and struggled in her arms. "I'm serious …"

While they were entangled, Mister had already walked over to them. He took the backpack from Rania and took out his wallet. Ignoring Jenny's lips and eyes, he took out a stack of change and said, "I'll talk to the boss."

When Mister finished dealing with the compensation, Rania had been waiting outside the bar for a long time.

There wasn't much money in the wallet, and there were only a few coins left. Rania counted the coins and silently held them in her hand. Looking at the empty sky, she became more and more worried.

There was spaghetti and spaghetti sauce at home, which could last for a few days. She hadn't finished the cereal yet, and there were cans of pickled cucumbers in the fridge. She could buy some toast to make sandwiches …

After such a big storm, Mister naturally lost his job. Before she found another job, they would have to live on spaghetti and sandwiches.

The more Rania thought about it, the more miserable she felt. She sighed and squatted in front of the bar with a touch of melancholy, burying her face in her knees.

Rania was poor. Rania was really poor. Rania still didn't have the money to fix the air conditioner at home.

There were many reasons for being poor, but Rania was poor not only because her parents were unknown.

Three years ago, she moved to New York with her former guardian. Faced with the similar rent in the Bronx and Queens, they struggled for a long time. In the end, they clenched their teeth and chose a small house in Queens. At least this part of the city was slightly safer than the Bronx.

From then on, the two of them depended on each other in a small but warm house … Did you think it was going to unfold like this?

Of course not.

After settling down, her guardian left a pile of gambling debts and easily ran away.

When Rania opened the door the next day, she was stunned to see a group of debt collectors outside.

Since then, Rania had to live a life of going to school and working to pay off her debts … Or rather, she went to school and Mister worked to barely survive in New York.

The boss also knew that Rania's family was poor, so he didn't ask for a lot of compensation. At least, he left some change for Rania. Rania couldn't help but feel relieved when she took the money from Mister's hand. With this money, she could save until Mister found another job.

She absent-mindedly calculated the cost of her food and walked in the direction of her house, ignoring Mystic, who followed her, in a manner that might have seemed indifferent to outsiders, but Mystic followed her without a word, and made no objection to her treatment.

There was no need to jog on the way back. Rania walked very slowly, stopping from time to time to look around. Even so, she still stumbled and bumped into people every few steps.

She turned a few corners and walked into a remote alley, reaching out her hand as she walked.

As she walked, Myster, who was silently following behind her, suddenly dissipated and turned into a chaotic black mist. Then, they all rushed towards Rania, burrowed into her cuffs, and disappeared into her body in a breath's time.

There was no surveillance in this kind of alley. Rania absentmindedly put away Black Mist and continued to walk home without stopping.

Not everyone could calmly accept the blood of evil creatures flowing in their body. Rania was lucky. She was young when she realized her ability, and her guardian didn't show fear or rejection … To be honest, Rania felt that he was quite excited when he found out that she could summon a mass of tentacles of Black Mist.

In short, Rania very early accepted her identity, her dark other half … and how to use this laziness.

Except that the body was not made of flesh and blood but Black Mist, Mister was no different from a human. It was controlled by Rania's consciousness, shared memories and emotions. Compared to a summoned creature, it was more like two bodies under the control of the same consciousness, or more accurately, two accounts at the same time to play games, which made it convenient for Rania to be lazy.

For others, it was almost impossible to want to go to school and work at the same time, but Rania was different. She could sit in the classroom and listen to the class while letting Mister work in the bar, take orders, and even beat up the thugs …

The bar fight just now was actually Rania's own doing. It was common for female bar employees to be sexually harassed. If it wasn't for Mister, Jenny could only silently swallow her anger. Therefore, Rania didn't have any psychological pressure to beat up people, and naturally, there was nothing to deny about the compensation. However, thinking that she would have to live frugally for a period of time, Rania couldn't help but feel a little depressed.

Unfortunately, as a human, Rania was very useless. Basically, she was a useless nerd. She could only let Mister fight. If it was Rania's body, if she punched with all her strength, the first thing she would break would probably be her own hand.

It took a lot of time to settle the compensation. As autumn came, the sun set earlier and earlier. When Rania walked to the door of her house, it was so dark that she could only see the light from the street lamps.

It didn't matter to Rania whether it was dark or not. She could only see very little whether it was day or night. She walked to the apartment according to her memory. When she was about to go upstairs, she suddenly heard a clear voice behind her.

"Hello, are you Lanius Wilson?"

Rania stopped and turned around, following the voice. She tilted her head and asked politely, "Yes, I am. Sorry, what can I do for you? "

The person who spoke was a young man, no more than 30 years old. Rania could only deduce this information, which was completely meaningless.

This unexpected question stumped the other party.

He seemed to be a little embarrassed to speak. Rania could hear his fast and slow breathing. "I am … Dick Grésen. You can call me Dick. Well, I think you must be wondering why I'm here."

He paused and looked at the little girl's increasingly puzzled eyes. He smiled helplessly. "Do you … want to know your father?"

To be honest, this development was a bit too cliché. Rania thought.

After a few seconds, her mind digested the meaning of this sentence. Her eyes suddenly widened, and her fingers clenched the shoulder strap of her backpack.

As a little girl with a very unreliable guardian, it was impossible for Rania not to imagine what her parents were like. She also had one more thing on her mind — at least one of her parents was some kind of evil creature. Otherwise, there would be no Mister. In general, if she met them, Rania would know what she would become in the future.

In fact, Rania did not really care about this question. But after knowing that Mister's true form was Black Mist, the little girl had been worried that she would become an unknown Black Mist with surging tentacles in the future.

She held her breath, a little hesitant and a little doubtful. She asked softly, "Are you my father?"

Life was a fantasy novel. Only by relying on calmness, rationality, and a lot of luck could one survive in this fantasy world.

That was what Rania had always believed.

That was why she was now standing in front of her house calmly and rationally, hugging her backpack, listening to the strange young man smile a little awkwardly.

He said, "Uh … I'm your father."

Before he uttered the next word, Rania's mind was suddenly filled with a 30,000-word-long article "A Promising Young Man Under 30 Spent 15 Years Of Passion With Evil Creatures". More than half of the words came from AO3's R18 novel.

"… My adopted son," he said.

Rania was speechless.
