The chill from the landlord's ring almost froze Han Fei's fingers off. Being trapped between two ghosts, Han Fei somehow managed to keep his cool.
Maintaining the status quo, Han Fei did not move further into the house but he did not try to escape either. He stood at the entrance of the living room and a polite smile appeared on his face.
Room 1051 was shrouded in darkness. The pair of bloody eyes appeared to materialize out of thin air. Han Fei could not see the man's face but he knew the presence that radiated from the man was very scary. It was not just cold and eerie but it was laced with a unique malice, a desire to devour.
'Is the neighbour from Room 1051 trying to eat me?'
Earlier, Han Fei had caused quite a commotion. Strange noises came from upstairs. The ghosts behind and in front of Han Fei became agitated. They seemed to be worried that more ghosts and monsters would come to their rescue.
Heavy breathing came from behind Han Fei. The sticky liquid dripped on his back again.
Five bony fingers reached into Room 1051. The ghost behind Han Fei tried to drag Han Fei out but as he reached his hand into the room, the 'darkness' in the room dissolved into a viscous liquid and started to flow towards the door.
The hand did not land on Han Fei's shoulder, it was sucked in by the materialized darkness inside the room.
'The tenant from Room 1051 appears to be able to blend in with the darkness.' Han Fei was reminded of the shadow that stood in the corridor. He had no face and was not wearing any clothes, he was just a human shadow. 'There sure are all kinds of tenants in this building.'
A low growl echoed. Han Fei did not dare to turn around. He only knew that the ghost behind him had gotten into a conflict with the tenant from Room 1051.
'Come on, come on, come on. It's best if both of them are heavily injured.'
Han Fei's mental fortitude was very strong. His ears kept echoing with the growl and his back was drenched in cold sweat but he did not turn around.
'5 minutes left.'
Looking at the countdown timer on the menu, Han Fei's heart raced but his expression remained calm.
When there were only 3 minutes left to the mission, the owner of Room 1051 seemed to be enraged. The whole room seemed to come alive. The viscous darkness surged out from the door like a gaping mouth. It swallowed the ghost behind Han Fei whole!
"Bang!"
Hearing the door close behind him, Han Fei's heart skipped a beat. Something unexpected had happened.
All the light disappeared. It was as if Han Fei had been robbed of his vision. There was only darkness around him.
'The ghost behind me has been dragged into Room 1051?!'
Han Fei felt extremely insecure. He wanted to move his body and lean against the wall.

The sound of fighting and screams behind him grew softer. It had only been 10 seconds.
"Are you still there? Hold on a little longer! " Han Fei was really panicking now. The ghost inside Room 1051 appeared to have a limited range of activity. It was weak outside the room but very powerful inside.
The sound of fighting turned into the sound of knocking and then the sound of nails scratching on the door. The ghost behind Han Fei appeared to have given up on Han Fei. It wanted to leave.
Han Fei still did not turn around. He had no idea what was happening behind him. He could only tell from the sound.
The situation was getting worse. If he let the ghost behind him leave, then he would have to face this strange house alone.
While the owner of the room was not paying attention to him, Han Fei retreated.
The thick darkness almost materialized. The ghost behind Han Fei radiated a bone-chilling aura. The focus of the fight was no longer Han Fei.

The gap on the door widened and the light inside the room grew brighter. The ghost behind Han Fei no longer cared about Han Fei. Just as he was about to escape, Han Fei's hand that gripped the doorknob tightened as if trying to slam the door shut.
Seeing Han Fei's action, the ghost behind him shrieked shrilly like it was about to go insane.
"Take me with you!" The darkness curled around Han Fei's body. He was unable to struggle free on his own. All he could do was scream, "Didn't you want me to be your scapegoat? Didn't we promise to be each other's angels? "
