Chapter 304

Words:1967Update:22/06/27 07:05:44

Report

3 sets of footsteps echoed down the corridor but there were only 2 people.

When Han Fei said that, both the young security guard and Brother Hua were stunned. They did not see anyone else when they went down the stairs.

Cold sweat slid down his face. Brother Hua forced himself to calm down. He gripped the flashlight tightly. "Let's go up first. Ignore everything else."

Brother Hua kept urging the young security guard to go up the stairs as if they would be safe but from Han Fei's perspective, the higher they went, the scarier the things would be.

Was the Ziggurat different from the Happiness Neighbourhood?

The 'dying' Han Fei leaned against the young security guard's back. He looked around quietly.

The corridor was tiled but probably due to the negligence of the cleaning staff, many of the tiles were stained with stains. Occasionally, Han Fei could see a few strands of very long hair.

The handrail of the stairs was made of iron, and it was painted with a layer of bright red paint. It looked very bright.

The distance between each step was the same but the young security guard would always stumble when he went up the stairs. It felt like he had stepped on an empty space.

The strangest thing was, there were voice-activated lights installed in the corridor but only the odd-numbered floors had lights. Every even number of floors would be shrouded in darkness.

Therefore, no matter where they went, the security guards would carry a flashlight with them. They had gotten used to these strange things.

In the blink of an eye, the young security guard had carried Han Fei to the 3rd floor. Seeing that the young man was going to continue down the corridor, Han Fei was afraid. He stopped playing dead and slowly woke up. "Which floor are we going to?"

"The security room. It's the safest place after dark." The young security guard answered Han Fei's question casually.

"Which floor is the security room?" Han Fei did not think there was a safe place in the building. In fact, he suspected that the two guards were planning to kill him and then find a place to bury his body.

"It's on the 4th floor, we're almost there. Don't worry." Brother Hua thought that it was because his injuries were too serious and he was in great pain, so he kept asking questions.

"4 … 4th floor?" When he heard that, Han Fei, who was pretending to be anxious, started to panic.

The higher the number of '4' in the Ziggurat, the more dangerous the room was.

Why did these two security guards have to go to the Ziggurat?

No wonder the security guards kept disappearing, they had really chosen a 'blessed land' for themselves.

Walking past the 3rd floor, the young guard carried Han Fei and rushed to the 4th floor. When they opened the safety door, the third set of footsteps appeared again.

Han Fei heard it clearly. The sound came from the first floor, and then it quickly chased up to the fourth floor!

Hearing the hurried footsteps, goosebumps rose on the back of Han Fei's neck. However, the young security guard and Brother Hua did not seem to hear him. They continued to move cautiously like they were guarding against something.

Han Fei wanted to urge them, but in the end, he wisely shut his mouth.

As soon as the security door on the fourth floor was opened, a cold wind blew out from the corridor.

There were no lights on this floor, and the corridor was pitch-black. When the flashlight swept across, the white painted walls looked like the faces of mourners.

"We're here. This is the security room." The young guard stopped at one of the doors. Beside him, Brother Hua rummaged through his pocket for the key.

Han Fei lifted his head silently. He glanced at the room number and his heart almost stopped.

'Room 1044?!'

The room number was the same as the room he stayed in at Happiness Neighbourhood. The number had 2 '4' in it, it was the most dangerous room on the ground floor.

"Many things have happened at this neighbourhood before, but I heard a deity was summoned. I don't know why, but things slowly died down." The young guard looked at Brother Hua, who was still searching for the key, and said in a small voice, "I heard this room is a haunted house. Before it was sold, someone died. To calm everyone down and to maintain the security of the building, the developer decided to set up the security room in this room. He wanted to use the righteousness of the security guards to keep the building at bay."

"Morality?"

This was a blatant disregard for the security guards' lives. From Han Fei's perspective, only the Butterfly would do something like this.

The footsteps from downstairs approached. When they reached the 4th floor staircase, Brother Hua finally found the key.

The three of them entered the room. When the door closed, Han Fei heard footsteps running down the corridor.

With his back against the door, Brother Hua, who was acting like a senior, finally let out a sigh of relief.

The young guard's forehead was covered in cold sweat. Brother Hua's back was soaked. His uniform stuck to his skin but he did not notice it. He was still pretending to be calm.

"It's best not to go to the first floor after dark. There was a security guard who went down at midnight and never came back." Brother Hua adjusted his collar awkwardly to hide his shaking hands.

"Brother, I heard there were 2 deliverymen who died on the first floor? The killers usually call the deliverymen into the building and then kill them. Their bodies are nowhere to be found … "The young guard placed Han Fei on the sofa. He was quite afraid himself.

"You're new here, so you don't know about these things." Brother Hua leaned against the door and lowered his voice. "One time, when I was patrolling the first floor, I heard knocking on the door. I thought there was no one living on the first floor, so I sneaked over to take a look. Guess what I saw?"

"What did you see?" The young guard looked at Brother Hua curiously.

"A deliveryman in a red uniform. He was carrying a large, bleeding box. He leaned against the door and looked into the room. His mouth kept saying, 'The meat you asked for is here, the meat you asked for is here …'"

Brother Hua imitated Han Fei so well that the temperature in the room dropped.

"Are you serious? Brother Hua, you dare to go to the first floor alone? That doesn't sound like you. "

"I'm lying." Brother Hua crossed his arms and made the sign of a tortoise.

The two guards talked about the strange things that happened on the first floor. The dying Han Fei listened attentively.

The monsters that Brother Hua described were similar to the monsters on the first floor of the Ziggurat game. This confirmed one thing in Han Fei's heart, the Ziggurat game was mirroring the Ziggurat in the cryptic world!

As he eavesdropped, Han Fei studied his surroundings. He really did not expect the first room he went to after entering the Ziggurat would be Room 1044. Everything seemed to be fated.

Room 1044 contained 2 Room 4s. It looked normal on the surface. Various rules and regulations were hung on the wall. There were also work forms and pictures of the guards, it felt very formal.

Compared to a normal security room, the guards were equipped with rubber bats, flashlights, anti-cut gloves and anti-stab vests. There were 4 walkie-talkies placed on the table inside the room.

There were a lot of fancy things, but very few of them could be put to use.

'There doesn't seem to be anything special about this room.'

Based on the hint in the Ziggurat, after entering the Ziggurat, one had to obtain a certain death curse as soon as possible or the Ziggurat would personally prepare a death curse for them.

'Every room in the Ziggurat should have a death curse but after I entered this room …'

Han Fei was confused when he noticed Brother Hua and the young guard had stopped talking. They stared blankly behind Han Fei with pale faces.

"That thing is out again."

"Who on earth hung it there? Didn't we throw it away earlier? "

The two guards' voices were shaking. Out of curiosity, Han Fei turned to look.

Inside the toilet of Room 1044 hung a blood red dress.

The dress trailed on the ground. It looked like a person standing inside the toilet.
