Chapter 282

Report

Han Fei had pressed the second floor button but now the elevator stopped at the 2nd basement floor.

Before the silver-gray elevator doors could fully open, a female student with a pale face appeared at the elevator entrance. She was about to walk in when she suddenly seemed to see something, and her body froze.

Her pupils twitched anxiously. The girl stared at a corner of the elevator. She suddenly pulled back her feet and turned to run down the dark corridor.

'Why is there a girl on the 2nd basement floor of the security company? She looks so afraid, has something scary happened to her? '

Han Fei did not think too much about it. He grabbed the urn and rushed out.

The girl's gait was strange. One of her legs appeared to be boneless. Han Fei was worried that she might be followed so he followed her closely.

To his surprise, the girl moved faster and faster. After turning a corner, she disappeared from his sight.

The light above them would flicker occasionally, and the moment it dimmed, something would change in the corridor, but it was impossible to tell what exactly had changed.

Han Fei stood in the middle of the corridor and studied his surroundings.

The basement of the security company was filled with individual rooms with serial numbers. They looked like the security company's dormitory or a remodeled rental apartment.

'Is this where the guardian of Yi Ming Street lives?'

The damp and dark walls were covered in moss. The chill seeped into his body. Han Fei was about to knock on a cleaner door to ask about the occupants when he realized the elevator door behind him was still open.

'Has the elevator been waiting for me? How come it feels like someone is watching me? '

Han Fei's eyes slowly moved to the surveillance camera in the corner. Initially, he thought it was just a decoration. After all, it was covered in dust.

Han Fei waved at the camera and flashed a friendly smile to show that he meant no harm, at least for now.

Perhaps the moral restraint in real life was too strong, Han Fei was too embarrassed to pry open the door when he was being filmed by the camera.

He wandered around the 2nd basement floor. After confirming all the doors were locked, he returned to the elevator.

Strangely enough, once he stepped into the elevator, the red overload sign lit up but it soon returned to normal.

The elevator doors slowly closed. All the buttons on the control panel were lit up.

Just as the door was about to close, Han Fei saw a woman's face poke out from the corner of the corridor.

His face was deathly pale, his eyes were trembling, and his face was filled with terror.

"Bang!"

The moment he saw the woman's face, Han Fei reached out to the elevator door. He grabbed the heavy door.

He touched something, and the elevator door opened again. Holding the urn, Han Fei rushed to the corner of the corridor without hesitation.

But by the time he reached the corner, the poor girl had disappeared.

"Was she coerced?"

Han Fei could not understand why a female student would show up at a security company. From the looks of it, she was in need of help.

"That girl probably has a hidden mission."

Han Fei looked at the wall with some regret. If he could get his hands on a phone in the cryptic world, he could leave his phone number on the wall. That would give them a chance to get closer to each other through conversation.

Back in the elevator, Han Fei stood obediently in the corner with the urn.

He had no idea where the elevator would stop, this was the only way for him to find out.

The numbers on the screen kept changing. When the elevator doors opened again, Han Fei was already at B4.

A chilling wind blew into the elevator. The red overload letters lit up again.

Han Fei looked at the empty elevator. The red overload letters refused to disappear.

"Shall I leave now?"

He hugged the urn and walked out of the elevator. The silver doors slowly closed and the elevator started to ascend.

"There are so many floors underground for a security company, that in itself is something worth thinking about."

The B4 floor appeared to be a storeroom. It appeared to have been abandoned for a long time. Many of the doors were not locked. Broken furniture and dusty trash littered the corridor.

"Even the people from the company rarely come to this floor?"

The corridor was dark, and there was only a light near the elevator. It was a little creepy standing there and looking inside.

Following the rustling sound of electricity, the only light in the room began to flicker.

Frowning, Han Fei turned to press the button outside the elevator. However, no matter how many times he pressed it, the button did not light up as if it was malfunctioning.

In the corridor, the sound of keys being clicked sounded. It sounded a little helpless.

Looking at the elevator that was moving away from him, Han Fei suddenly stopped what he was doing. He could smell a faint scent of blood in the air.

That aura suddenly appeared and floated into his nostrils from afar.

He turned around just as the light above him went off. At the end of the dark corridor, a slightly deformed figure appeared.

The body was twisted and the face was disfigured but it was still moving towards Han Fei.

"What is that?"

The light above their heads suddenly lit up. There was nothing in the corridor that was filled with junk, but the smell of blood seemed to have thickened.

Han Fei moved the urn a gap. Both he and the thing appeared to be waiting for the light to go off.

The smell of blood in the air was like claws scratching at one's heart. After a brief moment of light, darkness descended again.

In the darkness, one could hear the sound of objects being knocked against each other. The blurry figure moved quickly among the trash. Its body was covered in scars.

It was getting closer to Han Fei!

The light came back on and everything returned to normal. It was as if the monster in the dark was just a figment of Han Fei's imagination.

Several seconds later, the light went off again amidst the static.

The strange figure was already about 5 metres away from Han Fei. Han Fei could see the creature's bloody face and the broken bones that pierced through its skin.

With fear etched on his face, Han Fei pressed the broken button madly. Amidst the urgent sound, the smell of blood permeated the air. It seemed to climb up his hair.

4 metres!

3 metres!

Blood red footprints appeared on the trash. The lame chair was flipped over. When the monster was about 2 metres away from Han Fei, it suddenly stopped.

The bloody face stared behind Han Fei. The cracked skull slowly tilted to the side. It suddenly realized that every time the light went off, there would be an additional shadow behind this living person.

The light at the elevator door came back on. The light chased away the darkness but it could not chase away the fear.

The surroundings were eerily quiet. Han Fei's breathing hastened. Even the smallest expression on his face betrayed his anxiety and fear.

His fingers pressed the button furiously but the number on the screen did not change. The fear on Han Fei's face escalated. It started to mix with despair. His rationality was being eaten away by anxiety!

At that moment, the light went off again.

With the most horrified expression, Han Fei turned to look in front of him. The monster with the bloody face appeared about 5 metres away from him.

'Is there a way to turn back now?'

The deepest fear was still etched on Han Fei's face but the hand that was hidden behind his back silently took out a bladeless knife from his inventory.

'Is my acting not good enough? How come it feels like you're insulting my acting skills? '
