The boy's clothes were soaked. His body was covered in dirt and grime. His face was still in shock and his eyes were filled with fear.
The boy was afraid, he did not know what to do. He could only hide inside the ditch.
"The monsters have left." Han Fei realized that humans were a very special kind of lifeform. He was afraid himself but before the boy, he did not want to show any fear.
Perhaps Han Fei's expression gave the boy a sense of security. The boy gripped Han Fei's clothes and his expression softened.
He did not cry or make a fuss like he had lost the ability to cry due to the torture of fear. However, Han Fei's heart ached for the boy when he saw how quiet the boy was.
The boy did not know what hope was. He lived in a world like this. He did not do anything wrong but it felt like he was being punished.
Occasionally, flesh and organs flowed past him. In the filthiest, bloodiest and stinkiest places, Han Fei gently brushed away the filth around him.
"Are you afraid?"
Hearing Han Fei's voice, the boy nodded but then shook his head.
"You are the strongest child I've ever met, we will definitely escape from this place."
Han Fei consoled softly. After a long time, the boy finally understood Han Fei's meaning and was willing to communicate with Han Fei.
The boy was thinner than other children his age. He did not know how to form complete sentences, he only knew how to use hand gestures and stammered out a few words.
After about 10 seconds, Han Fei got the gist of what the boy was trying to say.
After Han Fei rescued the boy, he ran deeper into the alley but he was unlucky. He was caught by another pig-faced monster after he entered the blood fog.
However, the monster did not kill him. After breaking one of his legs, it dragged him into the meat packing factory.
He thought that he was dead for sure, but he didn't expect that there were other people who were captured in the depths of the factory.
The adults tried everything they could. In the end, when they moved, they used their bodies to hide the boy inside the ditch.
'There are other adults here?'
Han Fei had always thought he was too weak compared to the monsters. Therefore, when he heard there were other adults inside the factory, he made the decision almost immediately. He wanted to try and save these people.
After he could hear no more footsteps, Han Fei removed the iron net and silently climbed out.
The boy's leg was broken so he could not move. Therefore, Han Fei had him stay inside the ditch.
Restoring the iron net to its original state, Han Fei and the black serpent hid behind unknown machinery and walked deeper into the factory.
The whole plant was divided into different zones, just like in real life.
For the sake of filming, Han Fei had inspected the entire set multiple times. He memorized the location of each machine. His professional attitude had helped him immensely.
The closer they got to the depths of the factory, the thicker the blood mist became. The rumbling sounds of machinery were mixed with screams and wails. At a glance, it really was hell on earth.
Ready to have the black anaconda crawl into the ghost tattoo, Han Fei walked past a red wall that was covered in blood. He saw something that he would never forget.
In the depths of the meat packing factory, there was a bottomless pool of blood.
On the upper left side of the blood pool, there were many pig-faced masks connected by sticky blood threads. On the upper right side of the blood pool, there were many living souls hanging on rusty black iron hooks.
The pig-faced masks that represented the animals and the souls that represented the living hung on both sides of the blood pool like a huge black scale.
'What is this?'
The pig masks had all sorts of expressions on them. Some were sinister, some were sneering, some were angry, and some were malicious. Every single one of those faces was staring at the living person beside them, as if they wanted to eat that person in one bite.
The people who had been pierced by the iron hooks were all injured. They were powerless to struggle and had lost all hope. However, they still maintained their human form. Although their faces were filled with pain, their eyes still held on to something. It could be kindness, longing, affection, or dignity as a human.
Staring at the black scale, Han Fei was contemplating how to save these people when he heard footsteps coming from behind him.
He quickly hid behind one of the machines and held his breath.
Cries and pleas echoed in the meat packing plant. A large, scarred pig-faced monster dragged two men to the side of the blood pool.
The pig-faced mask on its face lit up with excitement, the more its prey cried, the happier it would be.
With a roar, the monster tossed the two men who looked almost identical to each other to the side of the blood pool.
The two men appeared to be twins but their personalities were completely different.
The younger brother kept begging for mercy. He clutched his broken arm and clutched the wound on his chest as he collapsed to the ground.
The elder brother's injuries were much more serious than the younger brother's. His expression was contorted from pain and veins popped on his forehead. However, he did not say a word. His eyes would occasionally wander to the monster as if looking for a chance to retaliate.
Raising the butcher's knife, the pig-faced monster seemed to enjoy the feeling of controlling the life and death of others. It allowed the younger brother to beg for mercy. It did not stop until the younger brother saw a glimmer of hope. Then it kicked the younger brother's ribs and tossed the younger brother into the blood pool.
When the younger brother's soul touched the blood pool, he screamed shrilly. His skin was melted by the blood and his body slowly sank into the pool.
All the struggle was futile. After the younger brother was completely swallowed by the blood pool, the blood fog thickened in the room. Then a pig-faced mask floated at the spot where the younger brother disappeared.
The pig-faced mask looked similar to the younger brother, its face was filled with selfishness and dissatisfaction.
'The pig-faced mask is made from a human?' Han Fei, who was hiding in the dark, saw everything. His heart was unable to calm down.
Initially, he thought Cattle Alley was filled with animals but now he realized all the animals here were actually humans.
In other words, some of them retained their human form but some of them were animals.
This alley merely tore off the outer layer of beauty, revealing the bloody truth to the world.
The younger brother's mask was hung on the left side of the black scale by strings of blood vessels.
The pig-faced monster cackled madly. Then it turned to the older brother. It waved the butcher's knife and forced the older brother to the edge of the pool.
Just as it was about to kick the older brother into the pool, the heavily injured older brother suddenly dodged to the side. Then he grabbed the monster's leg. He wanted to drag the monster into the pool as well!
The older brother did not give up. Unfortunately, he was too weak, he was not even on the same level as the pig-faced monster.
The broken body drew an arc in the air and the older brother fell into the pool.
The blood burned his skin and seeped into every wound on his body. However, no matter how hard the blood washed, it could not change the appearance of the older brother's soul.
He looked similar to the younger brother but the tenacity of his soul was completely different.
The older brother endured the pain. He was not afraid of the surging blood water. He tried to climb to the edge again and again but he was kicked back into the pool by the pig-faced monster again and again.
Gritting his teeth, the older brother tried his best to swim in the pool. Finally, he climbed towards the pillar in the middle of the pool.
He wanted to climb up the pillar and destroy the pig-faced masks on the left side of the scale!
Covered in wounds, the older brother slowly climbed up.
The pig-faced monster looked at him with interest. Just as the older brother was about to touch the masks, a large iron hook pierced through his shoulder and dragged him to the right side of the pool.
Blood dripped from his body. Even though the older brother was covered in wounds, he still maintained his human form.
With a fearless expression, he gripped the iron hook and struggled but he could not break free.
From afar, Han Fei saw this as well. The souls that managed to maintain their human form in the blood pool all carried with them a unique human quality.
It was this quality that allowed them to maintain their human form and rationality. Even under the washing of the blood water, they did not turn into controlled animals.
