Chapter 23

Report

In the whole building, the old lady was Han Fei's only friend. He had spent so much effort to raise Meng Si's friendliness level with him. If something happened to her, then all his efforts would be wasted.

'Weep has been trapped, theoretically speaking, that room should be safe. Is Chen Chen not in Room 1034?'

Han Fei grabbed the cleaver and ran to the 3rd floor. The door was fully open but the old lady was nowhere to be seen.

'Granny? Chen Chen? ' Han Fei reached into the room with the landlord's ring. The ring did not react much, which meant that the room was safe.

After a moment's hesitation, Han Fei slowly entered Room 1034. He studied the old furniture.

Talismans were everywhere in Room 1034. The floor, the walls, the ceiling, the whole room appeared to be sealed off by talismans.

"This is too uncanny! Even the haunted house that I stayed in is not as scary as this! '

Han Fei said cautiously, 'Something's not right. The boy that came to my house was not that powerful. He's not worthy of this kind of protection. There's probably something else in this room.'

Even though there was no reaction from the ring, Han Fei still decided to leave the room. But when he nudged backwards, he noticed the door to Room 1034 had been closed without him noticing.

Cold sweat broke out and Han Fei froze to the spot. 'This can't be …'

He had just locked the boy up in the bedroom and now he was locked up in Room 1034. The world was full of cycles, Han Fei's heart was about to crumble.

'What should I do now? Should I ask Wei Youfu to bring the boy over to exchange for the hostage? But Wei Youfu and the rest won't listen to me! Furthermore, the boy might have already reincarnated. '

Standing where he was, Han Fei twisted the doorknob with his last hope. The door was not locked but he was unable to open it.

'How shameless. You're already a ghost but you're still playing dirty.'

Han Fei stood at the door for about 10 seconds before he finally calmed down.

'The landlord's ring still hasn't cooled down, that's probably the only good news.'

There was something bad inside the room but it did not leak out its presence. For some reason, it had hidden itself.

Han Fei knew he could not leave. His mind started to turn as he scanned the room from the corner of his eyes.

"The windows are completely sealed with wooden boards and talismans. It seems like jumping out of the window is not an option. Room 1034 is right underneath the haunted house that I live in. If I make too much noise here, the tenants inside the building will react. '

Han Fei glanced at the stove in the kitchen. 'This place has been abandoned for a long time, so the gas has probably run out. Even if it hasn't, if there's a big explosion, I'll be the first to die.'

Han Fei thought of all the ways he could think of, only to find helplessly that he couldn't escape at all.

"I can leave the game now, but the problem is that after I leave the game, I'll still be in this room the next time I log in. When that happens, I won't be able to escape even if I grow wings."

Perking up, Han Fei decided to explore this room while he could still log out of the game.

Since there was no way to escape, he would just take it one step at a time.

Han Fei gripped the old man's pendant around his neck and shuffled slowly around the living room.

He didn't dare to make a sound, and his movements were as slow as possible.

The room that was covered in talismans was quite scary. Grains of white rice littered the ground, urns were placed in the corner and occasionally there were paper dolls that had been torn into shreds.

The torn faces were smeared with various kinds of paint. Just looking at them sent chills down Han Fei's spine.

'What happened to Room 1034 before this? Why is the child called Weep? '

With that in mind, Han Fei pushed open the bedroom door.

The rusted door creaked noisily. Han Fei was about to step into the room when a blindfolded child reached out to grab him by the waist.

"I've got you!"

"Chen Chen?" Han Fei stared at the blindfolded child at the door and then turned to look into the bedroom. Meng Si was collapsed on the ground. Her tattered shirt was covered in the child's palm prints.

"I've finally got you!"

Chen Chen laughed happily. Han Fei raised his hand to slap the back of the boy's head. "You still have the mood to play around here?"

Pulling off the cloth that blindfolded Chen Chen's eyes, Han Fei realized the problem. Chen Chen's eyes were completely white. It was as if he was possessed. He looked very scary.

"I've got you! It's your turn to be the ghost! It's your turn to be the ghost … It's your turn to be the ghost! "

Chen Chen kept repeating that sentence. His voice grew louder and louder until it echoed inside the room. It sounded like someone else was repeating the same thing.

Han Fei wanted to clamp his hand over Chen Chen's mouth but even so, the voice would still echo inside the room. To make matters worse, the ring on Han Fei's finger started to radiate coldness!

'The ghost is here!'

The chill came from everywhere. Han Fei shielded Chen Chen and the unconscious Meng Si behind him. He turned his head around to look around.

"It's your turn to be the ghost, it's your turn to be the ghost …"

The urn in the corner was flipped over. Wet handprints appeared to be left on the wall. The paper faces on the floor appeared to be smiling happily.

Soon Han Fei saw a pale hand reach out from the armoire and then a small face that was as white as paper.

Footsteps echoed in the empty living room. A round head poked out from behind the television and a little girl with a ponytail crawled out from behind the sofa.

Spine-Chilling noises kept coming. From the shoe rack, the kitchen, the canvases, the curtains, the blankets, the children with pale skin and the whites of their eyes slowly crawled out.

Han Fei's breath caught in his throat. His legs were weak and he had to lean against the wall to prevent himself from collapsing.

These children appeared to be the missing children from the neighbourhood. There were so many of them that it made Han Fei's scalp go numb!

The air in the room froze. All the children turned to look at Han Fei.

This suffocating scene almost sent Han Fei away. His heart was about to jump out of his throat.

The children's voices softened. A horrible crying echoed inside the room. Han Fei turned to the source of the crying and saw a black shadow squatting at the corner of the room.

The shadow was not tall, he was different from the other children in the room.

'He's the real crying one?'

The children entered the bedroom one after another. They held blindfold strips and stared right into Han Fei's eyes. They kept repeating the phrase 'it's your turn to be the ghost'.

Han Fei did not answer. Then one of the children leaped at Han Fei. His sharp nails pierced right into Han Fei's eyes!

If he refused to wear the blindfold, he would have to be blinded?

Pairs of small hands gripped Han Fei's shirt to stop him from moving. Han Fei could only watch as the fingers grew larger in his eyes.

Everything appeared to be set in stone. But just as Han Fei felt the pain, the amulet around his neck suddenly crackled and a chilling aura exploded.

"Bang!"

The child who was about to gouge out Han Fei's eyes fell to the ground. He hugged his broken finger and wailed. The other children were so frightened that they let go of Han Fei.

'Granny's amulet saved me?' Han Fei lowered his head to look. The amulet around his neck was already cracked. It would shatter if it was used again.

'What should I do? They'll discover the secret of the amulet sooner or later! I need to find a way to escape as soon as possible! '

A ghostly crying entered Han Fei's ears. The black shadow had entered the bedroom. It appeared to represent the darkness and chilliness of the room, it was the real 'crying'!

While the other children dared not approach, it stared silently at Han Fei. Then it picked up the blindfold and extended it towards Han Fei.

Meng Si's amulet could only be used once more. Han Fei knew that even if he rejected Weep, he would not be able to change his situation. Every nerve in his body was taut. He knew this was the most crucial moment.

Han Fei did not reach out to take Weep's blindfold but he did not reject the game of hide and seek. After a moment of contemplation, a wicked and cruel smile appeared on his face.

Squatting down, Han Fei leaned his face closer to the shadow, "A normal hide and seek is so boring. Why don't we play something big?"

With one hand in his pocket, Han Fei's slightly sickly face showed a trace of obsession. His eyes were filled with uncontrollable excitement, "A normal hide and seek is a ghost trying to catch everyone but today, why don't we do it the other way round? All of you ghosts will come to catch me!"

His lips curled into a smile. Han Fei's face was almost touching the shadow's. "I will use my life as the bet. If you can find me within an hour, then you can do whatever you want with my life. If you can't find me, then you'll have to do 3 things for me."

His eyes burned with malice and madness. The chilliness from the amulet had not completely dissipated. Looking at Han Fei now, the ghosts felt a kinship with him.

The room slowly quieted down. After who knew how long, the shadow nodded. He led all the ghosts out of the bedroom.

Han Fei also helped Meng Si and Chen Chen out. He dropped them at the door of the living room. The smile on his face became more and more twisted. His body appeared to be shaking from excitement. "If you can't find me in this room, then you can go to the other houses in this building. Consider this a hint from me."

When all the ghosts and shadow turned around, Han Fei walked to the living room door. He tried the doorknob again but the door still refused to open.

"What an interesting bunch of ghosts." Han Fei looked down at all the children in the room. "Remember our bet and try your best to find me!"

With the cruelest and most wicked expression, he laughed without restraint, "Now, let the game begin!"

Opening the menu, Han Fei chose to quit the game.

The world turned blood red and the world spun. When Han Fei opened his eyes again, he pulled off the gaming helmet.

His whole body was soaked in sweat. Han Fei pulled at his hair desperately. His eyes were bloodshot.
