The autumn breeze was strong. The dried leaves scattered across the Magic City were lifted into the air by the tires of a speeding car, before being carried further away.
"Son of a b * * ch, you dare to race with me?" a young man yelled at the side of the road.
Beside the young man was a man dressed sloppily. He was wearing earrings, and had a fashionable hairstyle. He also had a faint tattoo on his face. It would take a lot of courage for someone to have a tattoo on their face.
However, the man, who was supposed to be quite authoritative in society, had completely lost his temper. He lowered his head. He did not dare to talk back despite being scolded by the young man in ordinary clothes.
Actually, no one would have the guts to speak in front of a white and handsome wolf that was over a dozen feet tall and was covered in frost.
"Comrade Tong, you should withdraw your wolf. Don't block the traffic, and don't scare the passersby. You might have a Hunter Master badge, but look at how many people are surrounding you," a few traffic police tried to calm him down. They did not even dare to raise their voices.
"Are you blind? How dare you provoke me!" Mofan cursed.
Today, Mo Fan was going to the Hunter's Union Hall according to the rules. Considering the distance was short, Mo Fan decided to go for a run, purely to exercise his body. Who would've thought that the man with the earring would drive a sports car that rumbled as it sped past Mo Fan's side. As he sped, he gave Mo Fan, who was running by the side of the road, a middle finger.
Mofan was infuriated. He immediately summoned the Snow Glacier Snow Wolf. Mofan managed to stop the car in just a few seconds.
Were the people of his country blind? He was the man who had come first in the World College Tournament, yet not only did they fail to recognize him, the national hero, they even dared to raise their middle finger at him, forcing Mofan to lower his standards.
"Piss off. If I see you again, I'm going to tear your car apart!" Mofan snapped at the man.
"Yes, yes, I won't do it again!" the man was relieved. He stomped on the accelerator and fled.
"Don't you know how to drive slower?"
"Yes, yes." The man hurriedly stepped on the brakes and drove the sports car like a small electric stove. He slowly moved forward, away from Mofan's sight.
The traffic police also let out a long sigh. Didn't they say that most Advanced Mages were very gentlemanly? They would never bicker with ordinary people. Why was there an Advanced Mage who loved to cause trouble today? The Frost Wolf he summoned was too domineering, causing the whole street to scream.
In comparison, no other vehicle would be as eye-catching and domineering as this summoned beast.
"Speaking of which, your wolf looks familiar. It looks like Mofan's wolf, who came first in the World College Tournament," one of the officers said.
Mo Fan smiled faintly. Finally, there was someone watching TV.
He had performed so well in the World College Tournament. There was no way no one would recognize him when he was walking on the street.
"Now that you mention it, it does look like him. Comrade, you must be Mofan's fan, too. You even painted your Summoned Beast the same color as his Snow Wolf," another officer said.
"…" Mofan seriously had fed the two officers to his wolf. Was he really that different in real life compared to the one he saw on TV?
It was his fault, too. He shouldn't have turned down the important interviews. It was difficult to capture a Mage's face when he was watching the battle through the big screen.
Mo Fan continued on his way to the Hunter's Building. The man that Mo Fan had taught a lesson to had gotten out of his car nearby. He tossed the car to the side of the road and hurriedly ran into a dimmed shop.
The man smiled at the corner of the shop. He looked at the tall, skinny man with a long chin hiding in the shadows and said, "I've already tested him. He's a hot-tempered man. He can't stand the slightest provocation."
"Humph, it's not a hot-tempered man. There's something wrong with his brain. Otherwise, he wouldn't dare treat my brother like that," the man with a long chin said.
"Let's stick to the plan then," the man said.
"Mm," the man with a long chin said.
As soon as he finished the sentence, a man wearing a half-mask slowly walked out from the shadows. His eyes were flickering with anger, as if they were about to burst into flames.
"Go ahead, we'll deal with the consequences for you," the man with a long chin said to the half-masked man behind him.
"I'm going to make him suffer!"
Mofan went straight to the building where the Hunter Masters were when he arrived at the Hunter's Building.
A Hunter Master was considered a relatively high position in the Hunter Pyramid. Their strength was above the Advanced Mage level. The number of people in the Hunter Master's luxurious hall was a lot fewer than the ordinary Hunter Master's hall. Every Hunter that entered the Hunter Master's hall would be served by a Miss Hunter in black stockings and high heels with a glass of wine. She would serve them with a smile.
Mofan's rank as a Hunter Master was not too low. The Hunter Masters were categorized into seven ranks. A Hunter Master could apply to become a Senior Hunter after attaining the rank, but in order to become a Senior Hunter, they would have to make great contributions, or complete almost impossible quests.
Reclaiming the Taklamakan Desert was considered a difficult task among the Hunter Masters. Ling Ling insisted that they had to follow a team to the Taklamakan Desert. The few of them were nowhere enough. Mofan had no choice but to come to the Hunter Master's Hall to see if there were any teams heading to the Taklamakan Desert. If he followed them, at least he could look after them.
"I'm trying to find out which teams are heading to the Taklamakan Desert. Give me a list of their information, and it's best if you have their contact information," Mofan said.
"Sure, mister, is there anything else you need?" the Hunter Mistress asked with a smile.
"Oh, another glass of this, it's pretty good," Mofan said, pointing at the iced wine that he had finished in one gulp.
The Hunter Mistress was startled for a moment, before nodding with a smile. She picked up the empty glass and headed to the open bar.
"Little Bunny, what do you think? It's rare to see such a young Hunter Master. He's quite handsome," the bartender asked with a smile.
"What a loser," the Hunter Mistress snorted.
Mo Fan took a closer look at the information on the list, and noticed a familiar Hunter Group's name on it.
"Golden Battle Hunters, isn't that the group that almost got wiped out when they ambushed the Black Vatican on Chongming Island? Are they planning to go to the Taklamakan Desert, too?" Mofan raised his eyebrows.
The Taklamakan Desert was a Hell Level dungeon for many Hunters. Not many teams had actually cleared the dungeon. Even if they wanted to go, they would need an entire Hunter Group in the name of exploring the dungeon.
No matter if it was a clan, an association, an academy, a group of hunters, or a group of mages, they all needed to establish their own reputation in society. That way, they would be able to attract more mages to join them, making them stronger and more influential.
If a Hunter Group wanted to let the people know about their banner, they would have to do things that ordinary people would not dare to do. It was likely that the Golden Battle Hunters were planning to be the first to do so. Once their banner was planted in the infamous Taklamakan Desert, the Golden Saber Hunter Group's reputation would skyrocket once again.
Most importantly, a place that no one went to was more natural. If they accidentally discovered a magic ore mine, an Elemental Sacred Land, a source of energy, or an oasis with unique herbs called 'Golden Leaves', they would be rich instantly. They could retire, buy cultivation resources, or bid on magic equipment that they had always wanted. Either way, every Magician was desperate for money.
"Their leader, Ge Ming, is leading the team himself. It seems like they are seriously planning to explore the Taklamakan Desert," Mofan murmured.
The leader of the Golden Battle Hunters, Ge Ming, was a Super Magician. Mofan was a lot more assured with such a strong Magician leading the team.
There were many territories of demon creatures in the country. Most of the places had been explored by Hunters, including the Qinling Mountains, Kunlun Mountain, Tianshan Mountain, Dongting Lake, and Dunhuang. Many people had risked their lives to map out the locations of demon creatures. Therefore, even though these places were dangerous, it was still possible to explore the demon creatures' territories as long as they avoided their nests.
However, due to the unpredictable nature of the Taklamakan Desert, the information that the authorities of the Hunter Union had passed down was no longer valid. Most teams that followed the map had never returned alive. As such, the Taklamakan Desert was in urgent need of a real map of the demon creatures' territories. At least, they had to clear a path through the dangerous desert, so the Hunters would not be blindly charging into it like headless flies, only to end up dying an unnatural death.
A map of the demon creatures' territories was extremely important to Hunters. Regardless of how strong a Hunter was, they would still die if they accidentally stepped into the territory of a Commander-level or Ruler-level creature.
The Golden Battle Hunters were indeed a group that dared to try their luck. Their courage was commendable when they ambushed the Black Vatican, and this time, they were going to explore an unknown danger zone. They were basically walking on the fangs of demon creatures!
"Ling Ling, do you have the contact of the leader of the Golden Battle Hunters?" Mofan asked.
"Yeah, he came to see you a few times. He said he wanted to thank you in person, but you were never around," Ling Ling replied on the other end of the phone.
"They're going to explore the Taklamakan Desert. Let's go with them."
"Sure, but I'm not sure if their route is safe. If we don't make the right choice, we're all going to die together," Ling Ling said.
"If they're brave enough to go and announce it so early, they must be well-prepared. It's better to go with them than us wandering around aimlessly," Mofan said.
The Taklamakan Desert was covered in blood. Purple dots were scattered across the desert in an irregular pattern.
