The function of a Wormhole was to rapidly transfer troops between different arachnid bases that were extremely far apart! Just like two random doors, no matter how complex the terrain was, once troops were transferred between two Wormholes, they would be able to traverse the distance of time and space. At most, it would require a few seconds. Of course, because Pandora planet and the Blackthorn Overmind were too far apart, the construction of the Wormhole took a longer time. Furthermore, the cooldown period of the Wormhole's transmission was also longer.
The technological principle of the Wormhole was to utilize spatial and temporal folding techniques. A piece of paper had a distance of 20 cm from point A to point B. Therefore, the shortest distance from point A to point B wasn't to draw a straight line between them, but to directly fold the paper, causing point A to point B to coincide with point A, allowing them to link up at zero distance. This was the foundational theory of the Wormhole!
This structure required an exceedingly high degree of evolution. It required both the arachnid Mother Nest and the Overmind to be upgraded to lvl 3 before it could be constructed. According to Sheyan's initial estimation, the Blackthorn Overmind had occupied the high energy Pandora mine, and evolving to lvl 3 was only a matter of time. Hence, gifting the arachnid base he constructed to the Blackthorn Overmind, allowing it to support him through the Wormhole, was Sheyan's final trump card.
Nevertheless, regardless of whether Sheyan's conjecture was wrong or not, at most he wouldn't be able to complete the Golden Side Mission. Escaping and preserving his life wasn't an issue.
Noteworthily, the Wormhole could actually be constructed on the 'Creep Carpet' of the allied forces. However, if Sheyan didn't gift the base to the Blackthorn Overmind, he reckoned the Blackthorn Overmind would absolutely not selflessly sacrifice itself to support Sheyan.
As for the first batch to pass through the Wormhole, they were the arachnid race's most mobile combat creatures – Mutalisks! They directly pounced towards the sea of viperwolves. To the viperwolves that didn't possess any aerial capabilities, they were completely unable to retaliate against the airborne Mutalisks!
One after another, lurkers passed through the Wormhole like they were queuing up, as they speedily rushed towards several key entrances of this small scale arachnid base. Then, using their eight razor-sharp long legs, they rapidly dug into the ground. Within a short span of seconds, they directly buried their bodies underground! There were at least a hundred of these Lurkers!
Though the offensive capabilities of those hundred plus Mutalisks that first entered Pandora through the Wormhole were formidable, the number of viperwolves charging in from afar was insane. Just the width of their attack wave alone was close to 500 to 600 metres, and their length was endless. What sort of concept was this viperwolf pack??? In the face of such a large number of Mutalisks, the attacks of the Mutalisks were like a drop in the bucket!
Instantly, one could observe the dense black tide of beasts gushing over like a long river. Then, they directly leapt down from the edge of the sinkhole formed by the magnetic storm. After being obstructed by the pandora crystals, they split into three dense streams as they marched towards the arachnid base ….. Even though the arachnid organ structures were exceedingly ferocious and massive, in the face of this boundless sea of beasts, they were as weak as candlelight amidst the raging winds.
However, on these three paths to the insectoid base, there were at least a hundred Lurkers densely packed together!
Following that, the shocking number of 3 beast waves abruptly crashed into the attacking range of the lurkers that were buried underground!
All of a sudden, metallic clanging noises resounded in the air, as the frontmost part of the beast tide abruptly exploded! They turned into chunks of flesh and green mucus! The flesh and body fluids spread on the ground, as though butter was tossed into a hot pan, rapidly dissolving away. In mere seconds, they were completely digested by the greedy 'Creep' carpet.
In this region where the magnetic storm had passed, the amount of organic matter was astonishingly low. Hence, the radius of the 'Creep' carpet of this arachnid base had been unable to expand. Yet now, with the addition of so much lifeless flesh, the greedy 'Creep' carpet instantly activated at full force, as it furiously extended outwards.
Even though the viperwolves were charging forward in a frenzy without fear of death, upon careful observation, one could see rows upon rows of awe-inspiring razor-sharp gigantic spikes emerging from the ground. Like a tidal wave, the spikes were thrusting towards them. Wherever they passed, flesh and blood splattered. As long as one was within the attacking range of those gigantic spikes, they would suffer horrifying injuries. What made them even more helpless was the fact that their enemies were actually hiding underground. Covered by the soft soil, the viperwolves were utterly unable to find any opponents!!
That terrifying stampeding viperwolf horde, seemed to have collided against an invisible barrier. Even though their target was less than a hundred metres ahead, that layer of invisible barrier was like a millstone of flesh, firmly obstructing their ambush. Using an inexhaustible and merciless assault, it obstructed their desperate assault.
At this moment, lurkers finally stopped gushing out from the Wormhole. Instead, dozens of chief-class zerglings, as massive as calves, pounced out. Instead, they stood still 20 metres away from the Wormhole entrance, forming a fan shape; vigilantly guarding the entrance.
In the next second, an incomparably stout carapace bug fluttered its wings as it flew out from the Wormhole with great difficulty! When its massive abdomen and thick jointed legs stomped on the ground, the ground visibly trembled violently. Moreover, its carapace surface sparkled with sparkling and translucent diamond-like reflections.
In the instance when this carapace bug appeared, one could distinctly sense the arachnid creatures becoming more active, as though they had consumed stimulants. Their combat efficiency had risen by at least 25%! Using its hind legs to support itself, it raised its head to support its body, before taking a deep breath. Then, it actually used its spirit oscillation to sigh with emotion.
"What a refreshing and pleasant air! What a beautiful cluster of crystals! Although the ore content is rather low, the reserves are sufficient to mine for an entire year! Ever since I first set foot on this soil, I realized I had fallen deeply in love with it!! "
Naturally, Sheyan wouldn't remain at the edge of the sinkhole. He had long retreated back to the arachnid base, as he loudly called out to the plump bug.
"Hey! My friend, you should lose some weight. Also, it's best to inhale less of this fresh air. At least, it's fatal to humans. You better cherish your life well, because I've invested all my hopes and wealth into it. "
The Blackthorn Overmind released a rumbling sound from his chest cavity.
"Ah ha! Thank you for your reminder, but I believe my body has never been as healthy as it is now. Look at these beautiful cluster of crystal trees!!! This is a spectacle I've never seen before! My comrade Shengong, can you feel the richness of this place? I can't wait to relocate the Mother nest here. "
Sheyan shrugged his shoulders.
"I forgot you guys are a race so valiant that you can directly fly through outer space. This bit of poisonous gas can naturally be treated as nourishment. Also, you must not be careless. Let me remind you, this is only the first wave of assault from the native creatures. The subsequent waves of invading creatures may very well exceed your expectations. Therefore, you must be prepared to evacuate at any moment. "
"Evacuate?" The Blackthorn Overmind suddenly raised his voice and roared.
"Oh! No, that's absolutely impossible. Don't tell me I have to return and face that barren ore vein that's about to dry up? Don't tell me I have to face the oppression of the Queen? No!!! My friend, you didn't deceive me. This planet doesn't have a single trace of the Queen's aura. This is a fertile planet devoid of arachnids. This is also the place where the Blackthorn tribe will rise to prominence! I'd rather die in battle here, than return to become someone's slave. "
Sheyan was rather satisfied with the Blackthorn Overmind's reply. He was starting to feel that the Golden Side Mission had already reached 50% and was beckoning to him. Hence, he solemnly urged.
"Roughly half an hour later, the native air force will arrive. They are terrifying wyverns that specialize in close quarters combat. Each of them should possess the combat prowess of at least 5 Mutalisks."
The Blackthorn Overmind released a terrifying roar, as his voice reverberated throughout the skies of the base.
"Nobody can chase me away from this paradise! No matter how powerful the enemy is, unless they can kill me, the Mother nest, and stop the war there, we will withdraw completely. Abandon everything, and focus on the war here. Remember to sever the Wormhole! Completely severing all ties with our race, we will establish a brand new world here! "
The Mother of the Blackthorns' tranquil voice quickly transmitted over.
"Your will will be thoroughly implemented. I already can't wait to fight alongside you in our new home."
At this moment, Mogensha and Reef had already joined up with Sheyan. Upon seeing Sheyan, Brother Black immediately yelled out with incomparable excitement.
"Boss! You've succeeded! You've really succeeded! That son of a bitch Golden Side Mission can definitely be accomplished!!!! "
Sheyan stared into Mogensha's eyes, as he uttered word by word.
"No! We've succeeded, it's us, Party Ace has succeeded!!! "
When he uttered those words, the trio simultaneously felt their blood boiling within their veins. That surge of emotions was indescribable!! They extended their arms and hugged each other, as they bumped their heads together, simultaneously releasing incomparably excited roars!!
*****
It was a massive brown viperwolf! Its entire body was covered in zergling flesh.
This terrifying beast was at least 5-6 times larger than its brethren. Its incisive maw brimming with razor-sharp teeth opened wide, its opening and closing movements undoubtedly evoked the impression of an electric pincer. Its robust hind legs even granted it an extraordinary jumping ability. When a Mutalisk flew slightly lower, the viperwolf would step on its brethren and leap up high. With a single bite, the Mutalisk was torn down from the skies, and was instantly devoured by the viperwolves.
Sheyan had long been eyeing it.
With a gaze akin to a starving man seeing bread. (To be continued.) If you like this work, I welcome you to donate your recommendation votes or monthly votes to me. Your support, is my greatest motivation.)
