After a round of praises from the officials, the Emperor seemed to have grown tired of it. Wei Zheng could tell what the Emperor was thinking. He waved his hand, signaling for the officials to quiet down.

Then, Wei Zheng looked at the sky and whispered something into the Emperor's ear. The Emperor nodded and looked at Xuanzang and the others.

"It's getting late. I can't waste any more of your time. If you don't reach your destination today, I'm afraid you'll blame me."

"Amitabha, I wouldn't dare." Xuanzang put his palms together and said calmly. Only Ye Chen knew that Xuanzang's heart was burning with anxiety.

"Haha, let's not waste any more time. Let's go now." The Emperor walked to Xuanzang's side and helped him onto the horse.

Xuanzang was flattered. He didn't dare to let the Emperor help him. Thus, when the Emperor placed his hand on his shoulder, Xuanzang immediately mounted his horse. His movements did not seem to be as weak as described in the books.

"Amitabha, then I'll set off. Your Majesty, take care of your body. When I return with the scriptures, I'll recite the scriptures for you and the Great Tang."

Xuanzang adjusted his kasaya and took the staff from Ye Chen. Ye Chen took the reins of the white horse after passing the staff to Xuanzang.

The Emperor looked at Xuanzang on the horse. His eyes reddened. It wasn't clear if it was because of reluctance or heartache.

"Venerable One, I don't know when we'll meet again. I don't ask for anything else. I only ask that you take care of your body and survive."

The Emperor took Xuanzang's empty hand. "When you return safely, I'll make sure you're invincible. You'll be admired by the world."

"Amitabha, thank you, Your Majesty." Xuanzang's eyes were filled with tears. It was as if he was saying goodbye to an old friend.

Ye Chen could not help but have goosebumps when he saw the two men behaving like that. 'Why are these two men so lovey-dovey?' He thought to himself in an evil manner.

Just when Ye Chen was daydreaming, Xuanzang patted the horse's head softly. Ye Chen turned the horse around after hearing that and headed out of the palace.

The Emperor waved at Xuanzang with all his officials. His eyes were filled with reluctance. Anyone could see the Emperor's concern for Xuanzang and his reluctance to part with him.

Xuanzang didn't look back. Ye Chen sneaked a peek. Xuanzang had already closed his eyes and was meditating. Xuanzang's face was devoid of sorrow..

'A heartless monk', Ye Chen thought.

After they left the palace, Ye Chen told Xuanzang about it. He even asked Xuanzang which direction they should head in.

Xuanzang woke up from his meditation and pointed to the west. He signaled Ye Chen to go to the west gate of Chang 'an. Ye Chen received the order and led the horse out of the city.

After leaving the city, Ye Chen continued heading west with the horse. However, he felt that the bag on him was rather heavy, so he took it off and passed it to a follower. He also instructed the follower to put the kasaya that Bodhisattva had given him into the bag.

Ye Chen knew that Xuanzang wouldn't wear the kasaya. The monk looked honest but he was very cunning. Otherwise, how could he tame a rebel like the Monkey King?

He led his horse and led Xuanzang and his two followers westward. The journey to the west had finally begun.
