Report

After the two arrived at the imperial city, Wei Zheng stopped the carriage outside the city like last time and the two walked into the palace.

After entering the Taiji Palace that he had been to half a year ago, Ye Chen saw the emperor sitting on the dragon throne and Master Xuanzang who was standing below.

He and Wei Zheng walked to Master Xuanzang's side and cupped their fists. Ye Chen looked at the emperor.

"General Ye, how are your preparations for the journey to the west coming along in the past six months?" The emperor asked Ye Chen first.

"Reporting to the emperor, this subject is ready to leave at any time. I'm just waiting for Master Xuanzang's order." Ye Chen bowed again.

"Good, General Ye, I order you to accompany Master Xuanzang from today onwards. During this journey, you must protect Master Xuanzang. Can you do this?"

"In a few months, I'll meet the Monkey King. Does he still need my protection?" Ye Chen thought this but didn't say it out loud.

"This subject will go through water and tread on fire without hesitation!" Ye Chen's tone was very firm. The emperor heard this and revealed a gratified smile.

"Good, my dear subject, I didn't choose the wrong person. I hope you can take good care of Master Xuanzang on the journey to the west. When you two return with the scriptures, I will definitely reward you two!"

"Thank you, your majesty!" Ye Chen bowed deeply.

"My dear subject, no need for formalities." After the emperor finished speaking, he looked at Xuanzang, "Master Xuanzang came to find me yesterday and said today is a good day for travel. My dear subject, don't blame me for not telling you this in advance."

"This subject doesn't dare." How could Ye Chen blame the emperor? Even if the emperor didn't tell him, he didn't dare to say anything. So he could only say this.

"Then if my dear subject has nothing else, you can leave with Master Xuanzang now. Master, I will give you a horse, 50 taels of silver, and two attendants. Do you have any other requests?"

"Amitabha, thank you, your majesty. This poor monk has no other requests." Xuanzang expressed that he didn't need anything else.

"Alright, there's no time to lose. Master and General Ye can set off immediately. Come, give the things that I gave to the master to General Ye."

After the Emperor finished speaking, two guards came to Ye Chen with some taels of silver and two attendants. Ye Chen wrapped the taels of silver and his clothes together and carried them on his back.

Xuanzang walked out of the hall first, followed by the Emperor, Wei Zheng, Ye Chen, and their attendants. In the open space outside the hall, a guard was waiting for Xuanzang with a white horse.

Around the hall were hundreds of officials and monks who were waiting to see Xuanzang off. These monks were all from the temples that Xuanzang had stayed in before.

Xuanzang walked to the horse and touched it gently. "Amitabha, thank you, your majesty. This horse is very agile, it will definitely take me to the Western Paradise."

Just as Xuanzang was about to get on the horse, a monk suddenly walked out from the crowd. Ye Chen saw this monk and knew that he was Avalokitesvara's incarnation. This monk was here to give Xuanzang a kasaya.

"Wait a moment, Master Xuanzang. Please accept my gift." The monk walked to Xuanzang's side. Xuanzang stopped and took the wrapped item from the monk's hand.

Xuanzang opened the bag and saw a Kasaya shining with golden light. Xuanzang looked at the monk in surprise, not knowing where the Kasaya came from.

"This is called the brocade kasaya. It was given to you by Buddha. If you are determined to learn the scriptures, wear this kasaya and you will not fall into the cycle of reincarnation." With that, the monk took out a staff from his back.

"This staff was also given to you by Buddha. With this staff, you will not be poisoned." With that, the monk handed the staff to Xuanzang.
