Chapter 637

Report

Inside The Tributary's laboratory.

Last time, Greya overheard his conversation with Nausica in the yard. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he decided to return to The Tributary.

He planned to create the illusion Greya wanted here.

He already had some ideas about the illusion he was going to create before going to Sleepless City. Greya's illusion had two requirements. First, it had to be infused with the Nightmare Realm, and second, it had to be something new.

Angor could easily fulfill the first two requirements. Secondly, he needed to find something new for his illusions. His plan was to create an open-ended illusion world without a main storyline, like Witch's Town or Nether City in the Nightmare Realm, where Greya could explore freely.

Now that he was back in Sleepless City, he had a new idea.

Angor went to the training ground next to his lab. The training ground was spacious and empty except for a few wooden targets made of special materials. The original purpose of the trial field was to allow wizards to experiment with spells or experiment with alchemy tools.

Angor was here to finish his unfinished business in Sleepless City.

He wanted to see if he could infuse the Mystery energy into his illusion. Not long ago, he was about to construct a "Mystery Illusion" in Sunders' Gravity Garden when he was interrupted by Sunders. Later, he had to go to Pocratee, so he had to put the experiment on hold for a long time.

Now, he finally had time to test out his idea.

According to his plan, if he could really integrate the sense of mystery into the illusion, wouldn't he be able to integrate the "mysterious illusion" into the alchemy product?

Originally, he planned to use the illusion to slowly understand the essence of Mystery energy so that he could become a Mystery Alchemist in the future. But since Greya asked for something new, Angor believed that if he could infuse the Mystery energy into his illusion, it would be something new as well.

With that in mind, Angor began his experiment.

He tried to recall what happened inside Dalmatian's body, especially when he was completely surrounded by Mystery energy.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find the same feeling again. But he could feel that the Mystery energy had already entered the depth of his soul. Why did something happen again when he tried to capture it?

Angor fell into deep thought.

Just as he was deep in thought, he suddenly felt that the mysterious feeling had become unusually active. But when he tried to capture it, the mysterious feeling ran away again.

It reminded him of the summer nights when he was a child. He could not fall asleep on his bed because there were mosquitoes buzzing around his ears. He kept trying to slap them away. But even though he knew that there was a mosquito nearby, he just couldn't hit him. After he gave up on swatting the mosquito, the mosquito still seemed to be teasing him, arrogantly watching from the side and not leaving.

It was this feeling of being right in front of him that made him feel a little uncomfortable.

He thought for a while and realized that he had the same feeling when he tried to memorize and replicate the Mystery feeling. Trying to memorize something on purpose would not work. On the other hand, "unintentional memorization" could achieve great results.

Why not completely eliminate all distracting thoughts and let nature take its course to guide the sense of mystery out?

With that in mind, he closed his eyes again.

A moment later, he noticed that when he did not pay attention to the Mystery feeling, the memory imprinted in the depth of his soul slowly emerged. He felt like he was inside the dog's body again, surrounded by contradictory yet harmonious laws. He was completely surrounded by the "unknown". His restless heart slowly calmed down, and he slowly fell into meditation.

Time slowly passed. This time, Angor used his body to memorize the Mystery feeling in his soul.

He meditated for an entire night.

At noon the next day, Angor slowly raised his finger with a peaceful expression. Layers of mana wrapped around his left index finger, and the cantrip model built in the Axes of the Universe began to show its power.

The originally empty training field suddenly had a sense of spatial distortion. It was like water falling on a completely transparent glass window. The water mark became the evidence of space distortion.

Next, a dense mist spread out from the "distortion" and surrounded Angor completely.

If there were other apprentices around, they would recognize Angor's basic illusion spell — Mist Illusion.

The illusion seemed to be completed, but Angor still did not open his eyes. His expression was still calm, as if he was waiting for something to happen.

All of a sudden, a ripple appeared in the misty illusion.

It was as if … the wind was blowing.

The white mist began to move slowly and disorderly, as if Angor was standing in the clouds.

"Woof! Woof! Woof!" A bark pierced through the mist.

Angor opened his eyes. It was here! This was what he was waiting for!

Angor calmed himself down and stood up from his cross-legged position. He slowly walked toward the source of the bark. After two steps, he stopped.

The fog could not obscure his vision. Through the thin fog, he could faintly see a small figure.

When the mist cleared, he saw a puppy sitting obediently not far away, its short tail wagging from side to side. When the puppy saw Angor, it stood up on all fours and kept barking at Angor.

It was not a puppy. It was not a real puppy. But it did look like a puppy.

This was one of the variables Angor incorporated into the mist illusion. When the illusion first appeared, he imprinted the Mystery feeling deep in his soul into it.

He didn't know what kind of changes would happen to the misty illusion in the end. So, he kept his eyes closed and waited.

Finally, the variable he had been waiting for arrived.

He saw a Dalmatian that was definitely not a product of the Mist Illusion.

So this was the image created by his Mystery consciousness? However, why was it this dalmatian? Could it be that he was worried about her, so this dalmatian appeared?

As Jon once taught him, "If you never forget something, you will get an echo."

Angor did not know if his guess was correct, but he knew that the puppy was the biggest variable in the mist illusion.

The Mystery aura completely matched the name of "unknown".

Even Angor's own illusion had such an effect. Of course, Angor did this on purpose. Otherwise, he would not be able to control the illusion at all.

But now, he saw the puppy. Compared to the mist illusion, the puppy was still an "unknown variable", but at least it was under Angor's control.

Angor slowly approached the puppy and crouched down.

He slowly reached out his left hand and gently touched the puppy's head while the puppy wagged its tail excitedly.

As soon as he touched the puppy, the puppy burst.

The spotted dog was like a popped bubble, instantly turning into a shattered shadow and disappearing. At the same time, a large amount of Mystery aura escaped from the puppy's body and quickly filled up the small mist illusion.

It was here again!

The Mystery aura completely surrounded Angor and froze his thoughts. Angor could only feel some enlightenment from the Mystery aura.

He didn't even need Heartless Memory. Instead, he could sense the Mystery energy around him with his eyes and senses.

"I did it!" Angor yelled in excitement.

Angor did not want to rely on Heartless Memory to sense the Mystery aura. If he wanted to study the Mystery aura, he needed to see the Mystery aura in front of him.

And now, he did it!

Although this mysterious power had a hint of an "illusion", it was still very powerful. However, it was still useful for studying Mystery aura.

Angor could learn a lot from the Mystery aura, which was full of "conflicting laws", "conflicting thoughts", and "unknown thoughts".

Unlike last time, when he was inside the puppy's body, he did not have time to do anything else because he had to "copy and memorize" the Mystery aura.

Now, as he wandered in the sea of Mystery aura, he kept getting more and more ideas.

After all, there were simply too many things contained in this mysterious power. Just those complicated rules were enough to dazzle him.

But —

In less than five seconds, the Mystery aura was completely gone.

Angor froze on the spot. Without the mysterious aura, the mist became a basic illusion again.

He could not help it.

After all, the Mystery aura and the Nightmare Realm aura were two different things. The Nightmare Realm aura was just a feeling, which meant it could last forever. However, the sense of mystery contained many complicated things. If it were to be digitized, it would be an enormous flow of information that could overturn the sky.

Besides, the Mystery aura was very weak. Five seconds was already the best Angor could do.

He put away the mist illusion and rubbed his forehead, feeling a little tired.

Using the Mystery aura once was too tiring, but it worked well.

Angor decided to rest for a while and experiment a few more times to determine the rules of the Mystery aura.

While Angor was trying to integrate the Mystery aura into his illusion, something happened in the darkness of Sleepless City.

A bark suddenly came.

"Woof woof woof!" The puppy stood on top of the Never-Ending Clock Tower and barked toward the southeast. Brute Cavern happened to be southeast of Sleepless City.

Hearing the cries, a fiery red fox flew across the dark sky with a fragrant wind and arrived at the top of the clock tower. "I've finally found you. Minister Dim's messenger has arrived. If you don't return, Minister Dim will be angry."

The puppy whimpered and lowered its head to the fox.

"Let's go." The fox picked up the puppy and disappeared into the darkness.
