Angor could use his Green Rune to protect himself, but he still prepared several defensive scrolls just in case. Unlike the ones given to the control group, Angor used higher-level scrolls.
These scrolls were all taken from Sunders' collection. Anyway, they would only be used in the dream wasteland and had nothing to do with the real world.
More importantly, Angor was the only one who could use these scrolls in the dream wasteland. The scrolls required energy to activate, and no one else could control enough energy to activate them.
With everything ready, Angor opened one of the scrolls — Advanced Defense. A circular barrier immediately appeared around him. The barrier had no color, but it did not fit in with the surrounding space. Angor could clearly see the distorted air around him.
"Be careful when you're inside," Sunders reminded.
Angor nodded and walked away without looking back. In the end, he was completely swallowed by the dark mist.
As soon as he entered the mist, he felt as if he had fallen into a black pond. The pond was not filled with water. Instead, it was filled with a strange power.
Angor reached out his hand and tried to capture the strange power, but he failed. While doing so, he could feel that the power was everywhere. It was like air, filling up the dark mist.
Angor calmed down and carefully sensed the power.
He could not tell what kind of power it was, but he could feel something negative.
It was very strange, but strangely, it felt familiar.
As Angor carefully sensed the power, the dark mist around him began to change. Just like the control group, the dark mist began to move, roll, and gather into one strange creature after another.
These creatures looked very strange. Some of their heads looked like some kind of magical creature, but the lower part of their heads was gas. Some of them were covered in mucus, as if they had swum in a rotten swamp. There were also some that looked like countless sarcomas glued together, just like Aliens.
All kinds of strange creatures began to attack Angor as soon as they showed up.
They all attacked in different ways. Some of them rushed at Angor at close range, while others stayed behind and launched strange long-range attacks.
Angor did not dodge. Instead, all kinds of long-range attacks landed on the barrier around him.
When the energy came into contact with the protective shield, it shattered into countless particles and disappeared into the black fog. Angor could tell that the energy was similar to negative energy. It was dry and desolate, crazy and frustrated, as well as a strong desire to devour everything. These were all negative emotions that made people uncomfortable, but they were different from negative energy.
He also saw a blob of flesh trying to attack him from a very close distance.
That kind of solid impact was not only felt in the eyeballs, but also in the shaking of the shield. It was certain that this wart-shaped alien was real.
But weren't these creatures made of black mist in the beginning?
Angor couldn't help but observe the process. At first, he didn't notice anything. But there was one time when a creature took shape right next to him. He focused all of his attention on it and sensed a familiar energy wave coming from it.
"That's …" Using his advanced defense spell, he stood in the middle of the monsters and began to think.
By the time he came back to his senses, he was already surrounded by about 30 creatures. However, they weren't strong enough to break through his advanced defense spell yet.
Still, Angor could tell that the creatures born later were much stronger than the ones that were born earlier. If he stayed in the black fog for too long, even his advanced defense spell would not last long.
After thinking for a while, Angor already had an idea. He was going to leave the black fog.
But before that, there was one more thing he needed to do.
…
Sunders looked at the dark fog in the distance with a calm expression. He seemed to be thinking about something.
Freud, who was standing beside him, wasn't as calm as he was. Freud was pacing back and forth anxiously outside the black fog. Angor was sure that these creatures weren't invaders, but Freud still believed that they could be Dream Realm creatures.
The dream wasteland wasn't a real Dream Realm, but it was still created by the Dream Realm.
If the creatures inside were really Dream Realm creatures, Angor would have to be extra careful.
While Freud was getting restless, something was thrown out of the black mist in the distance.
With a muffled groan, a figure landed in front of Freud.
Freud took a closer look and saw that it was one of the two people who went into the black fog as part of the control group. When Freud bent down to check the man's condition, he saw the man's mouth open wide and a shadow run out of it.
Before Freud could react, he lost his balance and his vision blurred.
When he came back to his senses, he saw Sunders standing behind him. When the shadow came out of the man's mouth, Sunders pulled Freud to the side so that he wouldn't get hit by the shadow.
Freud thanked Sunders for saving his life, but Sunders didn't say anything. Instead, he looked into the distance.
Freud followed Sunders' gaze and saw that the shadow that came out of the man's mouth had already disappeared into the black fog.
"What was that?" Freud asked.
"Maybe it was something that possessed him." Sunders paused and considered his words carefully. "A mist creature?"
While they were talking, the second person was thrown out of the black fog.
It was another member of the control group.
This time, Freud learned his lesson and didn't approach. He observed from afar. Not long after the man left the black fog, he opened his mouth again and let out a dark shadow that melted into the black fog.
Freud noticed that the shadow had the shape of a living creature.
Or maybe it was the mist creature that possessed them.
The two men fell unconscious after the shadow left. Freud and Sunders didn't pay attention to them and kept looking into the black fog.
A moment later, Angor stepped out of the black mist.
He was carrying an unconscious man in his hand.
Without a doubt, the man in Angor's hand was Risa's younger brother.
Angor dropped Risa's brother on the ground and was about to tell them about his discovery when he noticed that both Sunders and Freud were staring at Risa's brother quietly as if they were waiting for something.
"What's wrong?" Angor asked.
Freud briefly explained what happened, which surprised Angor. "The creature inside them escaped?"
Freud nodded. "Yes."
Angor frowned. He brought them here to study the creatures that possessed them. But they all ran away. What was the point of studying them?
"Something's not right. Reza's brother didn't spit out any mist creatures." Sunders suddenly spoke up.
…
Half an hour later, they arrived at the top of Firmament Tower in Foundation City.
"The two people in the control group are imprisoned in the dungeon. One of them has regained consciousness, but he seems to have some memory problems. He forgot what happened after he was possessed. The other one is still unconscious, but I'm guessing the result is the same, "Freud explained. "Risa's brother is the only exception. The mist creature inside him didn't leave."
With that, Freud looked at the glass chamber on the other side of the room.
This glass capsule was actually an experimental tool. It was used to repair human tissue or preserve the body. But now, it was being used to imprison Cell.
Cell was Risa's brother.
Cell woke up once before, but he didn't seem to be conscious at all. Instead, he kept roaring like a wild beast.
Not only that, but Cell's body also changed. His back grew spikes, and his limbs changed to different degrees.
To prevent Cell from hurting anyone, Angor brought a glass chamber from the real world and trapped Cell inside.
"Cell is different from the other two. He spent a long time in the black mist, so the mist creature inside him must have fused with him already. That's why he changed like this. " Sunders looked at Cell in the glass chamber. "Too bad. We can try to study it in the real world."
In the Dream Wasteland, although tools could be brought in from the outside, it was difficult to complete this level of research without sufficient strength.
If they could learn how to control energy in the dream wasteland, they might be able to study it. This was Sunders' regret.
"It's not impossible." Angor suddenly spoke up to draw everyone's attention.
"Let's talk about what I found in the mist." Sunders quickly changed the topic.
