Chapter 1157

Words:2369Update:23/03/15 19:00:30

Report

Angor immediately noticed something strange when he pushed the door open.

The rooms he saw before were all narrow. But this one was extremely spacious. It was almost as big as the underground hall.

Unlike the previous rooms, the air inside the door did not have any foul smell.

The black-and-white checkered floor reflected a cold light, giving off a chilling feeling. For a moment, Angor felt as if he was in a display hall in a zoo.

It wasn't just the cold air that reminded him of a showroom. Even the items inside the room were similar to a showroom.

The room was empty, but there were four statues in the middle, one on each side.

These statues looked very similar to the specimens in the display hall. Angor had to take a closer look to notice that the statues' skin was made of stone.

There was a display stand in the middle of the statues. On the stand was a giant blood-red battle-axe engraved with strange runes.

Angor only glanced at it from a distance, but he could already feel the terrifying pressure coming from it. It was as if he was looking at an endless sea of blood.

Angor could tell that this was no ordinary object.

Also, the weapon was made using a method he had never seen before. As an alchemist, Angor could not help but want to check it out. He even felt a little greedy and wanted to take it for himself.

But when he was about to step in, he sensed danger from the bottom of his heart.

This vague premonition of danger stopped him in his tracks.

Why did he feel danger? This room was very spacious. At first glance, there wasn't any danger. Could it be that there was a hidden mechanism? Or did the danger come from the battle-axe? Or … Angor slowly looked at the four statues beside the battle-axe.

He did not look carefully before. Now that he did, he realized something was wrong.

These statues looked like … gargoyles?!

Angor quickly took a step back. It was normal for a gargoyle's skin to be made of stone. Moreover, when the Gargoyle was asleep, it looked like a statue without any signs of life. However, as long as one approached the Gargoyle's alert range, it would wake up from its slumber.

Many demon nobles liked to keep gargoyles as guards because of this.

He wasn't sure if the gargoyle was a statue or a sleeping gargoyle. Although this was a 50/50 chance, he did not want to gamble, nor did he want to court death by probing.

Even if the battle-axe was powerful, he would only use it for research purposes. It was not worth risking his life for it.

With that in mind, Angor turned around and closed the door without hesitation.

As the door closed, the room was plunged into darkness again. Somewhere where Angor could not see, one of the statues opened its eyes. A red light flashed in its eyes as if it sensed something. But it did not do anything in the end. Instead, it closed its eyes and went back to sleep.

Little did he know that his vigilance saved him from a terrible fate.

He was looking for a way out of this place... However, the strange thing was that all the doors he had opened so far were sealed spaces.

Not only did he not find the way to the upper levels, he also did not see the way out.

This was a little strange.

He stepped out of another "kitchen" and wondered, "Is there another way to get out of the sealed room behind the statue?"

However, after walking around for a while, he didn't see anything more eye-catching than the Palm Fire Statue … Eye-Catching?! No. Angor paused. If there was something eye-catching, there was.

Angor thought of something and quickly walked toward the light.

It was the resting area in the hallway.

If there was anything more eye-catching, it would be the resting area.

Angor even rested here before!

Angor followed the source of the light and saw the Fire Palm statue beside the couch. His eyes glowed. The statue was huge. It was much bigger than the wall lamps in other places. Angor came here several times before, but he never thought that there would be a statue here.

If the Palm Fire Statue here could move … then it could very well represent the way out that they had been unable to find before!

With that in mind, Angor reached out his hand and touched the statue's arm.

He heard a familiar creaking noise. He looked back and saw the tall wall behind the resting area flipped over, forming a wide path.

So that's it! Angor's eyes widened. This time, he was thinking too much. He did not realize that the answer was already in front of him.

He found the way, but he still did not know how to proceed.

Angor carefully stepped inside and quickly disappeared into the darkness.

He thought there might be a way out behind the darkness, but it was not the case. He was still in the hallway. The decorations and style were almost the same as before. There were still statues and resting areas.

Angor simulated the map in his mind. This place looked like a maze of corridors. Each corridor had several resting areas, which meant there were many paths.

Angor thought about it carefully. It seemed complicated, but it was not hard to find a solution.

He let the scouting puppet walk around the corridor and got some data. This corridor was obviously shorter than the previous one. If the corridor here was a progressive maze, it meant that he was closer to the center of the Void Tower than the previous one.

Perhaps the center of the Void Tower was the way to get to the second level. He would have to go through many corridors to get there.

But he did not want to go to the higher levels of the Void Tower. He wanted to leave this place. Instead of going inside, he had to go outside.

In other words, he was going the wrong way.

Angor returned to the resting area he came from and found another resting area in the same corridor.

As he expected, the distance between each corridor increased significantly, which meant he was getting closer to the outer circle.

Ten minutes later, he stepped into the new outer circle.

When he stepped out, he immediately experienced a completely different feeling from before. In the corridor from before, everything seemed calm and tranquil. Not a single sound could be heard. It was dark and desolate.

But now, Angor could feel the floor shaking. The energy in the air was not as stable as before.

This meant he was close to the outer circle.

With that, he quickly ran to the next resting place. He had a feeling that the next level of the cloister might be the outermost layer, which was also the exit of the Void Tower!

Soon, he found a new resting area. Angor held back his excitement and slowly disappeared into the darkness.

Before he reached the next corridor, he already felt the ground shaking even more violently. At the same time, he also heard an angry roar coming from the distance. It sounded like Komodo's voice.

Angor was glad to hear Komodo's voice. He was not far away from the exit.

However, when he entered a new corridor, he suddenly froze.

There was another resting area in front of him, but it was different from the previous one.

This was because there was a huge figure sitting on the sofa in the resting area.

It was an alien creature that Angor had never seen before. It had a pair of glossy wings on its back, and its skin glowed in a strange red color. Its body was covered in lumps and sharp horns. Green, viscous liquid was dripping from its pores.

The "alien" sat on the sofa. When Angor showed up, it looked up and glanced at Angor with its hideous head.

Angor suddenly felt something familiar about the creature.

It was the same feeling he felt when he saw the figure at the entrance of the underground hall. Judging from the size, the two seemed to be the same person.

Angor put the strange feeling aside for now. What should he do now?

As he pondered, he suddenly heard a rustling noise coming from behind him.

"That's …" Angor suddenly realized something and looked up.

A burning chain suddenly appeared on the alien's shoulder. The chain slowly slithered out of the creature's shoulder and extended toward Angor.

He tried to back away, but for some reason, he could not move at all under the effect of the chain.

When the chain reached Angor, it slowly raised its "head" like a snake.

Angor also saw the details of the chain.

His pupils constricted. The chain was the one he had crafted for Bobota!

Bobota's was used as a blood sacrifice. It couldn't be used by anyone else.

If that was the case, could this Alien be Bobota?

If one thought about it carefully, it seemed to make sense. After all, he did see Bobota in the lava pool outside the city. The only thing that didn't fit the description was that the alien's appearance was completely different.

Angor looked at the "alien" on the sofa. "You're … Bobota?"

The "alien" finally looked up and stared at Angor in the eyes.

The creature's eyes were strangely divided. On one side, there was the unbridled madness, while on the other, there was the coldness of absolute rationality.

"Why are you here? Are you here to stop me? I knew I shouldn't have let you get away with making the chain. I should've killed you! " The "alien" sounded calm at first. But suddenly, it raised its voice several octaves. "But, ahahaha … it's too late. No one can stop me!"
