Chapter 589

The narrow space wasn't good for the exploration team, but it was good for Luke's marksmanship.

Checking the time, he said, "Everybody, stay close to me. The ruins are about to change shape."

Everybody immediately did as they were told.

Many of the team members had been separated because of the changes in the ruins, and were probably doomed.

Nobody wanted to face the black monsters on their own; that would be suicide.

Everybody had just moved closer when the ruins shook again. With a rumbling sound, the tunnel where the black monsters were started to rise, and the tunnel where the exploration team was started to sink, separating the two parties.

More than ten seconds later, the changes in the ruins stopped, and the place where everyone was standing had become a small space. Not far away, there was an additional triangular passage.

Everybody looked at Luke.

He lowered his eyes, as if he were considering what he was doing.

A moment later, he said, "Stafford, arrange the team. Don't move too fast."

Stafford was a little confused, but didn't say anything.

Everybody could tell by now.

Listening to the young man would increase their chances of getting out of here alive.

Luke gestured at Weyland. The shrewd old man understood and walked at the back of the team with Stafford, and they weren't moving very fast.

Nobody in the exploration team found it strange that he was sick.

Luke waited until Weyland was some distance away from the triangular tunnel before he walked up to the black monsters that he had killed earlier.

This weird creature had a spindle-shaped head, a big mouth full of sharp fangs, and a weird bone tongue in its mouth.

Its body was like that of a dinosaur. Its legs were the typical reverse joints, and its upper limbs were much smaller, but they also had sharp claws.

Judging from what they had seen earlier, this monster's hind legs were very explosive.

But what was even more terrifying was its long bone tail. Not only was it extremely agile, it also had an opening at the end that looked like the edge of a gun.

Luke picked up the broken rifle parts on the ground and slammed them into the tail. The tail instantly cut two centimeters into the metal part of the rifle.

Throwing away the rifle parts, Luke examined the tail, only to find that it wasn't damaged at all.

This meant that the tail was much tougher than the stainless steel parts of the HK416.

Thinking for a moment, Luke got to work.

A few minutes later, the bodies of the three monsters in the small space were gone, and Luke quickly caught up with the exploration team, which hadn't gone very far.

Seeing that Luke had returned, the shrewd Weyland didn't ask any questions, and Stafford simply leaned over and asked in a low voice, "Where should we go now?"

Right now, the expedition team was faced with two paths.

Pondering for a few seconds, Luke said, "Take the left. It's best if we move fast." He then put Weyland on his back.

The team's speed instantly increased.

This time, Luke took the lead and jogged forward.

A few minutes later, the exploration team members behind him gasped and clicked their tongues.

With Weyland on his back, Luke was still very fast, and they could barely keep up.

The group moved as fast as lightning and arrived at a rather spacious room.

Then, the ruins shook again.

Amidst the rumbling sounds of the moving stone walls, the path they came from was sealed off, and this place became an isolated space.

Frowning, Luke put Weyland down.

According to usual practice, a new exit would only appear after ten minutes when the ruins changed.

"Everyone, take a break. It's safe here for now," he said.

Everyone felt relieved and sat down on the ground.

After the encounter with the monsters, everyone had been on high alert. They had been running or fighting, and had indeed used up their stamina quickly.

In fact, those who were slightly weaker were no longer in the team. They had either been separated because they were slow to react, or they had disappeared after being ambushed by the monsters.

There was only one woman in the team, and the rest were all strong men.

The woman's name was Lex Wood. She was African American, and her specialty was extreme sports in the snow, such as climbing snow mountains and glaciers.

She was the safety guide for this operation, and with her superb stamina, she was the only woman who could keep up with the team.

While the other men were panting, Lex walked over and said in a low voice, "You're Luke, right?"

Luke hummed in response and nodded calmly.

He had been thinking about the operation later, and didn't pay much attention to the woman.

If they couldn't get out, this woman was pointless.

If they could get out, she wouldn't be able to leave on her own, so she was still pointless to him.

Lex simply asked, "What's with those monsters?"

Luke finally turned his head and looked at her. "I don't know."

Lex said, "But you seem to know what they look like very well."

Lost for words, Luke waved at Stafford. "Director Stafford, can you explain my situation to this lady? I need to think about something."

Stafford immediately half-pulled and half-dragged Lex away.

In the end, the woman said angrily, "What are you hiding? You tricked everyone into coming here to die … "

Luke's face was calm, but he gave the woman a bad review in his heart: Psycho!

It was one thing if she didn't want to cheer everyone on; at the very least, she could have kept quiet and rested to conserve her strength for the escape.

Even a bigshot like Weyland was in the underground ruins. If he had tricked everyone into coming here to die, why had he come here himself? To commit suicide?

The only smart thing about Lex was that she didn't make a scene, and kept her voice low.

That was because if the exploration team grew suspicious of Luke, they would be the first to die.

Luke, on the other hand, would have an easier time leaving the underground ruins without these burdens.

This woman's face was dark, but her head was too white!

Who did she think she was? A white lotus flower?

Luke snorted and stopped caring about the woman.

If she took things too hard and doubted Luke more, she would naturally die faster if she hesitated.

Luke thought for a few minutes, then walked over to Weyland and asked him about the exploration team in a low voice.

After dealing with the woman, Stafford returned and took Weyland's place to explain what had happened to the exploration team.

In the end, Weyland took off his backpack and took something out.

He said in a very low voice, "This is what the exploration team found in the sarcophagus under the sacrifice room. There were three in total, and they were similar, but the other two were in the backpacks of the missing team members. "

Luke accepted it and examined it carefully for a moment, before he gave it back to Weyland. "This is probably something from one of those masked humanoid creatures. You might attract trouble with it. Mr. Weyland, you have to think it through. "

After a brief silence, Weyland nodded. "If they come after us again, I'll throw this to them."

Luke nodded. That was enough for him.
