Chapter 568

Words:1851Update:22/06/26 10:55:11

Report

In all his years of working cases, Luke had never done something like this.

He had killed a lot of criminals and suspects, but he had caught them with guns at crime scenes, and his law enforcement had always been clean.

In the Major Crimes Division, his and Selina's team had received the fewest complaints, and the complaints were also the lightest.

Otherwise, Dustin and Elsa wouldn't have been so stubborn in the face of pressure from the Internal Affairs Division.

Selina and Billy came out of the observation room on the side.

Billy gave him a silent thumbs-up.

Selina didn't think much of it. She was too familiar with this operation.

When Luke divided them into groups, she knew that he was trying to get a confession and teach his disciple at the same time.

Selina had explained to Billy how Luke and Y 'lisabet worked together in the observation room after they sent Crystal over.

For example, when Luke picked up the gun, he had given Y 'lisabet a subtle hint.

Y 'lisabet blinked her eyes in surprise and gave an "OK" in return.

There were a lot of such details, and Selina had explained them all.

Luke wasn't the only one who taught his disciple. Selina was also half a teacher to Y 'lisabet, and they both respected her very much.

After a while, Billy pretended to open the door and enter the house, taking Crystal with him.

Y 'lisabet finally returned to the interrogation room and looked at George, who had a "stupid teammate" look on his face.

With Crystal here, his confession wasn't important.

A confession couldn't be used as direct evidence to convict them, but it could easily sway the judge's decision.

The smartest thing for him to do was to confess quickly and shift most of the blame to Crystal, or he would be the scapegoat for the kidnapping.

In less than an hour, their confessions were out.

Luke gave Billy some instructions, and Billy nodded quickly before he left.

He also played a few rounds of blackjack with the two kidnappers. It took him less than two minutes in total, which was enough to win one round.

Billy also brought back two sets of shackles for felons, which were the kind where the hands and feet were chained together, and it was only a matter of time before they could walk.

Under Luke's special instructions, the shackles on these two were the heaviest and sturdiest ones.

After Billy put the shackles on them, Luke checked them again, before he and Billy took them to the temporary detention room in the police department.

However, George and Crystal were kept in separate cells.

Luke had even specifically reminded the officer on duty to be extra careful of these two guys.

It was already 11 o 'clock when he was done.

Looking at Y'lisabet and Billy, he smiled and said, "As usual, follow up on the case. Do you have any objections?"

Of course, the two of them had no objections.

This was to allow the two of them to legitimately come in and share the credit. However, they would have to deal with all the complicated paperwork and procedures.

With these two students, Luke often slacked off like this.

Correspondingly, Elizabeth and Billy had pretty much lost their rookie detective titles.

The number of cases they had handled and their results were enough for the senior members of the team to recognize their abilities.

Helping Luke clean up these cases meant that they would be able to see more cases and have more experience in interrogating difficult criminals, which was also a sign of their abilities.

Looking at their expressions, Luke reminded them, "Don't stay up tonight. Go back and get some rest. We'll start work tomorrow morning."

Since he had spoken, Elizabeth and her husband readily followed his advice. After tidying up, everyone went to the parking lot.

In the parking lot, Billy said goodbye to everybody and left in his own car.

Y'lisabet said goodbye to everybody in the parking lot and left in his own car.

Looking at Selina's expression, she added, "It's about what happened in Boom Town …"

Looking at Selina's face, she added, "It's about the incident in Boom Town …"

Luke nodded. "Let's go. We'll take you home and talk on the way."

Elizabeth's mother, Samantha, was a shareholder and supervisor of the new mining company. Naturally, she hadn't forgotten to tell her daughter the good news.

Y'lisabet had wanted to go to Luke's place that night, but she felt that there was nothing to say if she went there in a hurry. So, she simply dragged her partner Billy along to work overtime and calm down.

In the end, Luke came to the police department at night and even asked her to work a case with him.

She gradually calmed down as Luke handled the case, which was familiar to her.

Her mother, Samantha, only had 5% of the shares in the new mining company, while Luke had 25%, which was five times more.

Luke must've learned the news before she did, but he had even gone out to catch two suspects at night, and didn't seem to be affected by the gold mine at all.

With such a role model, she didn't have to worry about anything else.

She even recalled what Luke had asked her a long time ago: If you suddenly became rich, would you still be working at this job?

Her answer back then was from the bottom of her heart.

As long as her heart didn't change, while being rich was something to be happy about, there was no need to lose her composure.

After sending Y'lisabet home, Selina looked at her in the rearview mirror and sighed. "Back then, I really thought you were just joking. She really is rich now."

Luke was amused. "Are you praising yourself?"

Selina thought for a moment and realized that it made sense.

For most people, as long as they didn't become arrogant, a few million dollars or even tens of millions of dollars were enough for them to live the rest of their lives in prosperity.

However, most people couldn't do that. It was almost common for them to lose their composure after getting rich overnight.

At eighteen, Luke was already a billionaire, but he still maintained the same attitude towards life as before, which had a subtle effect on Selina's mentality.

Selina didn't really care about money anymore. The most she cared about was that her parents didn't have to work so hard and that her siblings could receive a good education.

As for herself? Luke looked at Dollar, who was still sitting obediently in the backseat. That was the door to a whole new world.

She calmed down, and Luke checked the system notifications.

The experience and credit points for catching the kidnappers weren't much. The bank robbery and kidnapping cases only gave him 500 points in total, which meant that they really hadn't planned to do anything big.

What was important were the other two notifications.

System: You have defeated Crystal Vince and have received a list of his abilities.

Crystal Vince's abilities: Basic Combat, Basic Firearms … Elementary Roping (Prerequisites: 20 Strength, 20 Dexterity, 20 Mental Strength, 1,000 credit points), Elementary Special Rope Making (1,000 credit points)

System: You have defeated George Huck and have received a list of his abilities.

George Huck's abilities: Basic Combat, Basic Firearms … Elementary Boomerang Throwing (Prerequisites: 20 Strength, 20 Dexterity, 20 Mental Strength, 1,000 credit points), Elementary Boomerang Making (1,000 credit points)

The abilities of these two people were quite interesting. Luke pondered.

The next morning, they arrived at the police department. They got out of the car in the parking lot, and saw an old acquaintance.
