Luke told her about Jennifer's situation. He didn't mention Jennifer's name, but simply told her about the job.
Sheerah said that Brian and the others would probably take the job, as long as they had enough time and money.
Luke got Brian's number. He thanked Sheerah and hung up.
Jennifer had also heard most of what Luke said, and was quite satisfied with what she had heard.
It would be nice to have a caretaker team, in case they had other ideas about her, which would be too annoying.
Also, if he could work as Sheerah's bodyguard, he wouldn't have to wait for Jennifer to come to him.
Luke got in touch with Brian, and soon received an affirmative answer.
Brian was very happy to provide services to these big stars. It was quick and expensive, and he was quick to pay.
They talked for a while, and agreed that he would come over immediately.
Half an hour later, Brian arrived, but he wasn't alone.
Luke waved at him with a smile. "Hi, Brian. It's so nice to see you again."
Brian replied with a smile, "It's you. Hm, Luke, right? I didn't expect to work with you again. "
Luke quickly shook his head. "No, I'm really not good at security. I thought of you. We still need to talk about this."
Brian nodded with a smile. He didn't think it was a big deal. There was still that restrained smile on his seemingly ordinary face.
Luke finally turned his head and said with a smile, "Hi, we meet again, Kim. You're even more beautiful than last time. "
Brian: ⊙ _ ⊙?
Selina: ⊙ _ ⊙?
Jennifer: ⊙ _ ⊙ …
Recalling something, Kim exclaimed a moment later, "You're … that, huh, Luther? Wait, it's Luke! The one on the plane. "
Luke nodded with a smile. "Haha. It seems that I haven't been completely forgotten. How fortunate."
Looking at everybody's faces, he explained, "I happened to be sitting next to Kim and her classmate on a plane last time, so we chatted for a bit. After I got off the plane, I was busy and didn't have a chance to talk to them. "
Everybody was enlightened, but they also felt that it was too much of a coincidence.
Only then did Brian introduce Kim.
As for why the employer would bring his daughter here, no one asked, but judging from Kim's look of excitement and admiration when she looked at Jennifer, they could guess.
However, Kim was very obedient. Other than greeting him politely, she did not interrupt the conversation.
Uncle Brian was a very concise and efficient person. He figured out Jennifer's thoughts with just a few words. He didn't want to ask for more details and directly said that he could take the job.
Seeing that, Luke got up with a smile. "Then we'll be on our way. Jennifer, call me if you have any questions."
Jennifer nodded. "Okay. Thank you, Luke."
After the delay, it was already eleven o 'clock. Luke and Selina simply packed up some Mexican food and brought it back to the police department.
When she saw Elsa, Selina said, "Haha, there's delicious food today, boss."
Elsa looked at the bags they were carrying and nodded. She said, "I've already asked Simmons to follow up on Todd's case. Are you interested in a new case?"
"What case?" Luke's interest was piqued.
The cases that Elsa asked for advice usually weren't ordinary cases.
Elsa picked up the phone on the desk and called, "Lisa, come in for a second."
Elizabeth soon came in. She smiled awkwardly when she saw Luke and Selina. "Well, Luke, Selina, hello."
Elsa gestured for her to close the door, before she said, "Lisa asked me to help with this case. I don't have any urgent cases here, so I thought of you. "
Luke and Selina looked at each other. "Business trip?"
Elsa nodded and let Elizabeth speak on her own.
Elizabeth finally began to talk.
As it turned out, Elizabeth's home was in a small town in Arizona. She had been working here since she graduated from a college there.
She also had a mother, a younger sister, and a younger brother.
Recently, there had been a lot of missing people. At first, it was just cats and dogs, but in the last two days, two people had gone missing.
Luke found that odd. "Do we need to go there?"
They had gone to Woodsburg last time because of Deputy Director Condra, and it was in greater Los Angeles.
But this case was a state case, and it would be too much for them to get involved.
Elizabeth said awkwardly, "My mother … is the sheriff of this town."
Luke and Selina were both enlightened. So, she was a female version of Robert!
In a small town like this, the sheriff was basically the number one officer in the department. If she wanted to hire someone, she wouldn't care about other people's opinions, unless it cost a lot of money.
Could Luke and Selina ask for money?
Looking at Elizabeth, both of them sighed inwardly. How was that possible?
This was a classic case of a favor.
Elsa didn't directly ask them to take over the case, but also let them choose.
It wouldn't be wrong for them to take it or not.
After all, Deputy Director Condra had done them a favor with the Woodsburg case, but Elizabeth had asked for this one.
She was a rookie detective, and a favor was worthless.
After a brief silence, Luke asked, "Does your mother know that we're going there?"
Elizabeth was delighted. "I'll call her as long as you're willing to go. I promise that I'll help you as much as possible."
Luke put his hand to his forehead. "So, your mother doesn't know that you're looking for us?"
Elizabeth chuckled and didn't say anything, but the answer was obvious.
Luke sighed. "Elizabeth, contact your mother first and make sure that she won't be unhappy that we're meddling in her work. How does that sound?"
He was already giving Elizabeth a lot of face.
If it were any other veteran detective, it would be polite of them not to call Elizabeth a pig for having a brain.
Elizabeth knew that Luke had a good temper, or she wouldn't have dared ask.
The main reason was that her mother was a little anxious. Her younger sister and brother had called her separately and told her some sensational rumors, which made her anxious as the elder sister.
That was why she made the outrageous request.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have dared to ask a top detective like Luke to help her on a business trip.
With the budget of the police department in her mother's town, the most they could do was reimburse her for her accommodation and fast food.
Elizabeth ran out happily, and hid somewhere to make a telephone call.
On the other side, Elsa looked at him. "You won't turn her down?"
Luke chuckled. "Boss, if you wanted to turn her down, wouldn't you have said so a long time ago? I know that you actually admire her. "
