Chapter 288

Words:1825Update:22/06/26 10:54:08

Report

Jennifer Perry was only 27 years old, and at the peak of her career.

Her career had been going smoothly, and she was one of the top five celebrities in terms of annual income last year. She was worth almost two hundred million dollars. She was a true winner in life.

Even now, she wasn't shocked by the gory scene in the living room, but was more confused and lost.

Luke gestured for her to sit down and carefully avoided the mess on the floor. He examined the maid on the couch for a moment, then shook his head.

The woman was heavily injured. The blow to the head had broken her skull, and it was unknown whether or not she could survive.

Luke didn't have the ability to save her.

He knew first aid on the battlefield, but he wasn't a specialist in the brain, so he only examined her for a moment before he withdrew his hand.

He called the police department and asked for reinforcements. He looked at a male security guard and asked, "Did you find her injured?"

The security guard nodded quickly. "Yes, I found her when I came in …"

Luke waved his hand. "What's your name and what do you do?"

The security guard said, "My name is Thomson Morris. I'm the head of security here."

"What's her name? What does she do? "Luke pointed at the maid on the couch.

"Manny Scott. She's a maid here, "replied Thomson.

Luke nodded. "Don't do anything for now."

As he spoke, he walked around the living room and frowned deeply.

He had yelled the moment he entered because there had been five security guards at the scene and Jennifer, the owner of the house, around the maid.

A bunch of people had been destroying the crime scene in a frenzy.

He was certain that most of the clues had been lost at the crime scene.

Not only were these people present, they were also clearly trying to save Manny. Blood was everywhere in the living room.

He then looked at the things around Manny. There were tissues, towels, blankets, and a first aid kit.

Bloody items were strewn everywhere, and everybody was stained with different amounts of blood.

There was no telling what these people were thinking, but they were rummaging through the crime scene.

Maybe they were trying to save Manny, and that was why they were doing all these things.

Unfortunately, their actions weren't of any use. Regular first aid measures didn't work on Manny's injuries at all, but the crime scene was too messy to look at.

If the people from the Forensics Department came, they would probably be cursing! Looking at the messy bloody footprints on the ground, Luke couldn't help but want to cover his head.

From what he could see, the six people's bloody footprints were all over the living room. There were more than a hundred of them. This was definitely going to drive the forensic scientists crazy.

"Thomson, tell me what happened when you found Manny," said Luke.

Thomson, the head of security, hurriedly said.

The situation was very simple. He had been talking to Jennifer on the intercom in the living room about Luke and Selina's visit, when he suddenly heard Manny scream.

When he reached the back door of the living room, he found Manny on the floor and shouted for help.

A few security guards rushed back and helped carry Manny back to the sofa in the living room.

Only then did Thomson remember Luke and Selina, and he hurriedly opened the door to let them in.

Luke was lost for words. How can you call those people's actions a favor? It would be more accurate to say that he was more of a hindrance.

Apart from entering the house and severely damaging the crime scene, the large group of people did nothing else. They also increased the number of suspects from the original two to six.

Thank you so much for your quick reaction! Luke complained inwardly, If this were a TV series, you would definitely be the murderer! This was all a ruse to destroy the crime scene.

Although he complained inwardly, Luke didn't take it seriously.

Having been a detective for a long time, he knew that the biggest taboo in investigating a case was to make a first impression.

Other detectives couldn't do anything about it, and could only trust their instincts most of the time. Luke was different; he had Sharp Nose.

Though the smells in the room were at that moment so complicated that the smell of six people moving about it was as annoying as a ball of yarn all jumbled together, he could still make an effort.

The simplest scent was Jennifer's. Her scent came down from upstairs alone, and moved the least.

Next was Manny, who had been attacked. Their scents could be eliminated first.

Judging from Manny's injuries, it was very unlikely that Jennifer was the murderer, and the five security guards were more suspicious.

Luke said, "Don't move for now. Thomson, if you're tired, you can sit on the sofa next to me. Don't disturb me. "

After that, he walked around the mess of blood and footprints on the floor and began to examine the crime scene.

When he and Selina came in earlier, they had noticed what was going on inside, and hadn't stepped into the gory scene, which was why they were able to walk around freely.

Finding the murderer might be a problem for other people, but Luke had a ready-made lead: the murder weapon.

According to Thomson, the head of security, and the speed at which Luke had arrived, the murderer couldn't have gotten rid of the murder weapon.

Manny's blood and the murderer's scent had to be on the weapon.

After examining it carefully for a moment, Luke's expression changed slightly, but he didn't say anything.

He walked over to Selina, who was next to the window, and asked her with his eyes, only to be met with a slight shake of her head.

He knew that it meant that none of the security guards outside had exposed anything unusual.

However, he had an idea of who the murderer was.

It seemed that it would be hard to find a murderer quickly, but with his Sharp Nose, he could directly lock onto someone.

The most difficult problem of the case had been solved. All that was left was to find evidence.

Twenty minutes later, the forensics team arrived.

Luke stopped them and said something to the lead forensic scientist in a low voice, who nodded slightly.

The two forensic scientists split up. One dealt with the inside of the house, and the other with the outside.

Everybody had to take off their bloodstained clothes and shoes, which were all evidence.

Then, they had to leave the big villa and wait for the forensic scientists to finish their investigation.

Jennifer was no exception. Accompanied by Selina, she took off her shoes and clothes, before she sat down in the garden in the backyard.

Luke re-entered the room and pointed at a cabinet by the back door to the lead forensic scientist.

Seeing what he was doing, the forensic scientist bent down and shone a flashlight on it. He then slowly took out an extendable baton from a gap between the cabinet and the floor. There were obvious traces of blood on the baton.

Without looking at it, he put it into the evidence bag.

Luke, on the other hand, went up the stairs to the second floor. He slowly opened the half-closed door and took a deep breath.

That was right. This was Jennifer's bedroom. There were only the scents of her and two other women, one of whom belonged to Manny, the maid.
