Chapter 252

Report

Luke glanced at Selina helplessly. "Eat your food, okay?"

Selina curled her lips and continued to eat.

Luke picked up the food on the table with serving chopsticks and put it on Jenny's plate. "Try these. They're all delicacies from China."

Jenny looked at the red and oily barbecued pork and smelled the sweet, meaty aroma. She couldn't help but salivate. She carefully looked at the woman opposite her, only to find that she wasn't looking at her. Finally, she picked up a piece and ate it.

Selina didn't cause any trouble, and everybody finished dinner in peace.

During the meal, Selina ate a third of the food, Luke ate most of it, and Jenny only ate a little. It was clear that Jenny didn't have a big appetite even though she was starving. She wasn't as ferocious as Selina had expected.

After dinner, Selina did the dishes, and Luke poured Jenny a cup of hot cocoa. They chatted in the living room.

Luke wasn't moved at all after listening to Jenny's intermittent narration.

It was a very ordinary family story.

Jenny's biological mother died a few years ago, and her CEO father remarried a young and beautiful wife who had a son two years ago.

So, Jenny lived alone in Los Angeles.

Jenny got into trouble when she bought weed, which infuriated her CEO father. They had a big fight on the phone, and Jenny had driven off. That was also why she was here in her pajamas.

As for the new intelligence that Jenny had given Elsa, there wasn't any.

Her abduction by WD36 was a complete accident. Who the hell would get new information?

It was a little past nine. Luke told Jenny to get up and drive her home.

When he closed the door, Selina made a very violent gesture and looked at him with disdain.

Luke bowed to show that he accepted the blessing, before he closed the door and left.

Jenny didn't say anything until she was out the door. She suddenly said, "… I don't want to go back."

Luke: "Huh?"

Jenny said, "I'm the only one there. I don't have any family."

Luke thought for a moment and said, "Should I drive you to the hotel?"

Jenny: "Huh?" She was slightly surprised, as if she didn't expect Luke to cut straight to the point. Although she had come late at night, she had been prepared.

But wasn't it too fast to be so direct?

However, with all kinds of thoughts in her mind, she didn't say anything in the end, tacitly agreeing to this suggestion.

A moment later, Luke stopped her car in front of a hotel. Jenny looked at the name of the hotel.

She didn't know Belle Hotel.

After parking the car and entering, she looked around and was sure that this was only a three-star hotel.

After all, the facilities of a three-star hotel were already pretty good. However, for someone like her who stayed in a four-star hotel at the very least, it was still a little strange.

Why do I feel like I've met the kind of scumbag that my classmate talked about? A small hotel room was enough to trick the girl into falling in love with him. She didn't even want to spend a little more money.

Noticing her expression, Luke said with a smile, "I'm just a minor detective. I can't afford to hire a four-star detective."

Jenny exclaimed, remembering that not everyone was as rich as she was.

At the very least, he had taken her to a three-star hotel that cost hundreds of dollars a night, not a motel that only cost dozens of dollars a night.

They booked a room under Jenny's name and went up.

After they entered the room, Jenny was a little nervous. She kept feeling that someone behind her would suddenly lunge at her and smile hideously …

Well, fine, she wasn't that scared, but she was a little uncomfortable. She wasn't a little girl who had never experienced anything.

After Luke came in, he turned on the stereo and adjusted the lights in the living room so that they were warm and dim. He then took out a bottle of red wine from his backpack and raised it. "Want some?"

Jenny felt as if she had been pardoned.

She couldn't be more familiar with having something to do, especially drinking red wine and chatting with other people.

The two of them snuggled up on the couch and chatted as they drank.

Luke learned a lot about Jenny.

For example, she had excelled in her studies and was the little princess of her family.

Three years ago, when she was admitted to USC to study business, her mother suddenly passed away.

When her mother died, her father, the CEO, was away on business, and didn't return until a week later, just before the funeral.

It was also at that time that she settled down in Los Angeles. Feeling guilty, her father bought her this villa.

The relationship between father and daughter would've eased sooner or later.

In the end, the CEO married a young and beautiful wife in less than half a year, and the wife gave birth to a son in less than two months.

At that time, Jenny finally began to suspect something.

Her father wasn't an idiot. As a meticulous and cautious magnate with hundreds of millions of assets, he wouldn't have acknowledged a son without a paternity test.

After further investigation, she discovered that her father and her mother hadn't gotten along for a long time, and had a mistress outside, who was now her young stepmother.

Before Jenny's mother died, her father had actually been accompanying the newly pregnant mistress.

The relationship between father and daughter completely broke down, and they rarely met again except for the occasional phone call.

Luke could even guess that Jenny had done all this to see if her father still cared about her.

Unfortunately, her father was busy with business and taking care of his wife and son, and had no time for her at all.

Jenny was now a junior in college.

She had gone from an excellent student to a brainless girl who had almost been filmed by drug dealers. Her family's environment had truly affected her.

Luke couldn't help but feel lucky. Compared with her CEO father, Robert was a perfect father.

He didn't have many shortcomings except that he didn't have much money, was a little rough around the edges, and wasn't very good at expressing himself.

After that, the two of them began to talk about all sorts of things, from the fun things in their childhood to their classmates, and then to work.

Of course, Luke had a job, and Miss Jenny had never worked before. She listened with great interest.

Luke hadn't been a police officer for long, but he had seen a lot of funny things, and his stories often made Jenny giggle.

Unlike Jenny, who was completely absorbed in the conversation, Luke actually checked his watch every once in a while.

At eleven o 'clock, Jenny had had a little too much to drink, but she wasn't drunk yet.

Luke was rather helpless. Why was this girl so good at drinking? He had something else to do tonight! He should've brought a bottle of vodka with him.

For the sake of the upcoming operation, he could only gradually reduce the number of funny topics and switch to talking about some less pure and interesting things.

In less than half an hour, Miss Jenny was in his arms, blushing, and they were kissing.

She wasn't blushing because she was shy, but because of the alcohol.
