Riding on Tyrant's shoulder, Lin Huang realized that Fatso was gone.
"What is Fatso doing? He wouldn't be looking for me again, would he? "
The tracks on the ground were covered by the sand and he could not see the direction in which Fatso had left. Lin Huang rode on the Sand Monster and chased after the Undead Worm.
At the back of a sand dune not far away from the Undead Worm, Lin Huang recalled the Sand Monster and climbed to the top of the sand dune. He peeked at the direction where the Undead Worm was.
In that place, the Death Worm had already disappeared, and there was no sign of Fatty.
"The Undead Worm is gone too …" Lin Huang frowned as he could not understand what had happened. "With Fatty's speed, it's impossible for him to have gone too far in such a short time. Perhaps he's escaped in another direction."
Lin Huang summoned Tyrant to search around but he gave up when he could not find anything.
Leaving the area, Lin Huang was depressed as Tyrant ran towards the east. He felt that Fatso was probably dead and his body was nowhere to be found.
Tyrant brought Lin Huang to the east. In the next few hours, they were attacked by a few waves of monsters but they were all killed by Tyrant. Both of them managed to reach the foot of Goddess Mountain before the sun set.
Lin Huang set up the tent quietly. After the tent was set up, he sat on the sand quietly with his back leaning on a big rock. He took out a piece of dried meat from his storage space and started chewing it.
The dried meat was made by Fatso when he was making barbecue earlier. He gave some to Lin Huang and said that he could use it as food when they were climbing the ice mountain as it was not easy to cook on the ice mountain.
Lin Huang ate the dried meat and plain water for dinner. The sky turned dark after he finished eating.
The sky was filled with stars. Lin Huang saw a few shooting stars and thought of a saying on earth, "Everyone has a star in the sky that corresponds to them. When a person dies, the star will fall from the sky and turn into a shooting star, burning the last of its light."
"Fatso, if you're really dead, I'll come back to avenge you when I'm stronger. In the future, when I become stronger, I will come back to avenge you. I will help you slaughter all the monsters in this desert. " Lin Huang then poured the water in the kettle in front of him. "Let me toast you with water instead of wine. Just drink a little. I'll buy you wine after the assessment ends." Lin Huang then poured the water in the kettle in front of him.
After paying respects to Fatso, Lin Huang looked up at the night sky and saw another shooting star. As the meteor disappeared, Lin Huang summoned the Sand Monster to keep watch at night. He then went back into his tent.
"I have to rest well tonight and save my energy. I'll start climbing the mountain tomorrow morning." Lin Huang did not even take off his clothes and shoes. He wrapped himself in the blanket and went to sleep.
The moon set and the sun rose. The night passed peacefully.
When Lin Huang woke up, it was only seven in the morning. He washed up and packed his tent before he started his journey.
At the foot of the mountain, the journey was smooth and it was not covered in snow. To save his energy, Lin Huang chose to let Tyrant carry him.
"Take your time, there's no rush."
Tyrant's body was not suitable for climbing, so it could only walk on the smooth road. When he reached a steeper area or an area covered in ice and snow, it was extremely easy for him to cause the mountain to crack due to his size.
Tyrant carried Lin Huang for less than an hour and they reached a height of more than three thousand meters above sea level. Any higher and it would be the snow-covered area.
Lin Huang recalled Tyrant and summoned Bai.
The silver-haired Bai looked at Lin Huang quietly, waiting for his instructions.
"Climb the snowy mountain with me. Later, when I can't reach a place, you can help me." Lin Huang knew very well that climbing the mountain was the most difficult part of the assessment.
The lowest altitude of Lady Goddess Mountain was more than six thousand meters above sea level and the highest was 12,000 meters above sea level. The safe route that the Hunters' Association had designated was one of the peaks of Lady Goddess Mountain which was more than eight thousand meters above sea level.
It was a huge challenge for Lin Huang who had never climbed a mountain in his previous life. Moreover, he was the only ordinary person who had not even achieved iron-level in the assessment. His stamina and endurance were far behind the rest.
If he had not obtained the passive skill Robust which doubled his physique, Lin Huang was not confident that he could pass this stage.
Lin Huang had thought about getting Bai to transform and wrap his Blood Power around him while he climbed up alone. He could then use his Blood Power to pull him up. However, Lin Huang soon gave up on the idea and chose to challenge himself.
Bai nodded as he heard Lin Huang's instruction. He turned around and walked towards a wall that was covered in snow and climbed up with his bare hands. He climbed very easily and reached a height of more than two meters in a few moves.
Lin Huang put on his gloves and followed Bai's route.
Bai climbed very fast but he had to wait for Lin Huang every two meters. It was much easier for Lin Huang to follow behind him. This was because Bai had marked all the spots that could be climbed. Both of them were of the same size and weight. Lin Huang would be able to pass the places that Bai could pass safely.
Both of them climbed up with their bare hands. By noon, Lin Huang and Bai had only climbed about 600 meters above sea level.
If they were on flat ground, it would take them less than ten minutes to cover such a distance. However, it took them more than five hours.
Half of Lin Huang's energy had been depleted. He gave Bai a new instruction, "Let's find a place to rest for a while. We'll take a break and recover our energy before we continue."
Bai nodded and completed his transformation. His Blood Power wings turned into sharp blades and pierced through the wall. Soon, a square that was about two meters in length and width was cut out. The Blood Power blades went deeper and dug out the wall along with the layer of ice. Bai then led Lin Huang into the hole.
Bai had dug a deep hole that was about 10 meters deep.
Strong wind was blowing at the hole but it could not get in. It was still warm inside.
Lin Huang leaned against the wall and sat down. He took out some jerky and ate it for lunch.
He wanted to give Bai a piece of jerky but he decided not to as he thought that Bai drank blood.
After eating another piece of jerky that was the size of a palm and drinking some water, Lin Huang was almost done resting. He waved at Bai and the both of them continued their journey.
After spending more than five hours, Bai led Lin Huang to climb another 700 meters. They finally passed the first difficult part of the journey and arrived at a flat snowy land.
Although the sun had not set, Lin Huang did not choose to continue climbing. Instead, he decided to set up camp. He planned to take a good rest and continue climbing the next morning.
He was now more than 4800 meters above sea level.
After setting up the tent, Lin Huang started a fire and cooked some meat for dinner.
The sky was getting dark. Lin Huang looked at the fire and smelled the fishy meat. He could not help but miss Fatso's cooking.
The broth in the pot was boiling. After about half an hour, the fishy smell of the meat had dissipated and a sweet aroma was released. Lin Huang knew that the meat was almost done.
