Fang Chen nodded. Fang Chen did not beat around the bush. He looked at Huo Yao solemnly and said, "Actually, I wanted to ask you for a favor." Huo Yao's eyes lit up.
Huo Yao raised her brow slightly. She could guess what he wanted. "Are you treating a patient?"
"Uh huh." Fang Chen nodded with a worried look on his face. "It's my teacher."
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Fang Chen glanced at the door and stopped talking. After the food was served and the person left, he explained his mentor's condition in detail.
Fang Chen smiled bitterly in the end. "I should have brought my teacher's medical records for you."
Huo Yao swallowed the food in her mouth and raised her head to look at Fang Chen. She said calmly, "It's fine. I'll take his pulse sometime."
Fang Chen was aware of Huo Yao's capabilities. Since she agreed so readily, the worry in his heart disappeared. He said, "It's getting late. When do you think you can take the time?"
Huo Yao contemplated. She had to earn money as soon as possible, so she nodded and said, "How about 4 pm tomorrow?"
Fang Chen obviously wanted it to be as early as possible, so he agreed readily. "Sure. I'll get Shuwen to pick you up at 4 pm tomorrow."
Huo Yao gave him an OK sign before she lowered her head and continued eating.
After dinner, Huo Yao turned down Fang Chen's offer to take her home. Since it was still early, she hailed a cab and headed to the night market in the old city district.
It was the same night market she had visited during the National Quiz Contest last year.
The night market was crowded, so Huo Yao put on a mask when she entered because her face was too eye-catching.
Huo Yao walked a long way into the city. When she passed by a noodle shop, she paused and glanced inside.
The owner was still the same, and there were only a few customers.
Huo Yao veered her eyes and entered the antique shop next to the noodle shop.
The antique shop was very small and the lights inside were dim. There were all sorts of strange things hanging on the glass display window. It looked creepy from the outside.
When Huo Yao pushed the door open and walked in, the owner was still dozing off. He did not look like he was running a business at all.
Huo Yao seemed to be used to this. She did not make a sound and started to browse through the items in the shop.
After a while, the dozing boss seemed to realize that someone had entered the shop. He finally opened his sleepy eyes and looked at the girl wearing a mask in front of him. A trace of darkness flashed across his eyes.
"What are you looking for?" The boss was a middle-aged man in his forties. He cleared his throat and asked.
Huo Yao placed the ceramic ornament she had just picked up back in its place and turned to look at him. Her black mask covered most of her face, making her look mysterious under the dim lighting.
The boss looked at her and suddenly felt a little dazed. "You …"
Huo Yao raised her brow slightly. She pulled up an old rattan chair and sat down lazily. Then she removed the necklace from her neck. "Have you seen jade like this before?"
The boss came back to his senses. He glanced at Huo Yao before he took the necklace from her. He scrutinized it for a few seconds and assumed that she was going to sell it, so he replied. "It's just an ordinary piece of white jade. It's worth tens of thousands of yuan."
He paused before he turned the two sides of the pendant between his fingers and continued. "You have the other half of the jade, right?"
