Huo Jinyan drove to school after school in the afternoon.

Huo Yao had gone to the homeroom teacher's office during the last period, so she was delayed and did not come out.

Huo Jinyan's new car attracted many students' attention as he parked it by the roadside.

He got bored and got out of the car. He paced back and forth by the roadside and glanced at the No.1 Middle School's entrance from time to time.

Lu Xia came out early because she had to go for training. The company's van had not arrived yet when she walked out of the school. She put on her sunglasses and walked to the roadside.

After taking a few steps, she suddenly saw Huo Jinyan not far away from her and instantly halted.

Ever since Huo Yao's return, she had never visited her adoptive parents again. She was particularly uncomfortable with their cold attitude when she went to the airport to pick Huo Yao up.

She had thought that her adoptive parents would call her occasionally, but they had never done so. It was as though their daughter did not exist.

Lu Xia inhaled deeply and suppressed the frustration in her heart. She adjusted her sunglasses and pretended not to see Huo Jinyan as she walked to the roadside.

She did not avoid him. Instead, she walked straight to the roadside. Perhaps she had a glimmer of hope that her adoptive father would see her and take the initiative to look for her.

However, this thought persisted for a long time. Even when the company's van stopped in front of her, her adoptive father still did not look at her.

"Xiaxia, get in." Her assistant got out of the car and opened the door for her.

Lu Xia pursed her lips and clutched her branded bag tightly. She glanced at her assistant and then at Huo Jinyan, who was not far away. She could not help feeling annoyed when she saw him pacing back and forth as though he did not see her. Lu Xia could not help feeling annoyed.

"Hold on. I have something to do. I need to wait for someone," said Lu Xia to her assistant.

Because of the anger in her heart, her voice was tinged with impatience, which did not match the gentle persona she usually created.

Her assistant glanced at her in surprise. She could not judge a person by their appearance.

She did not say a word and stood by the side.

Lu Xia stood rooted to the spot and waited for a few more minutes before she saw Huo Yao walk out. Huo Yao seemed to have noticed her and even glanced at her.

Lu Xia pursed her lips. Even this country bumpkin had seen her. She could not believe that her faithful adoptive father had not seen her.

As expected of her cold-blooded adoptive parents, they were even more disgusting than her snobbish biological parents.

Huo Yao walked up to Huo Jinyan and called out to him.

"Daughter, you're a little late today," said Huo Jinyan casually as he opened the passenger door for his daughter.

"My teacher wanted to talk to me about something, so I took a few minutes," explained Huo Yao briefly before she got into the car.

Huo Jinyan walked around the front of the car and walked to the driver's seat. He opened the door and sat down.

The moment he started the car, he looked up and noticed the nanny van parked nearby and Lu Xia standing by the roadside.

He was startled, but he quickly retracted his gaze, started the car, and left.

Lu Xia watched Huo Jinyan's car disappear into the distance. When she saw the car's logo, she could no longer maintain her composure.
