After Huo Yao left Old Mr. Pei's Imperial Medicine Store, she went to buy some spices. Her phone rang in her pocket after she was done.
It was Min Yu.
"Okay. Wait for me at the intersection. I'll be right out."
Huo Yao placed her phone in her bag. Before long, she walked out of the market and spotted a black car parked by the roadside.
She walked over, opened the back door, and got in.
Zhuo Yun was still driving. "Miss Huo, good afternoon." His voice sounded increasingly respectful.
"Hi," greeted Huo Yao politely.
Huo Yao looked at Min Yu. He looked normal and seemed to have recovered. She could not help narrowing her eyes. "Did you say that your chest felt stifled yesterday?"
Stifled?
Zhuo Yun was puzzled. Why had his boss not mentioned it?
"Uh huh," acknowledged Min Yu without batting an eyelid. Then he pressed against his chest and coughed.
Huo Yao said, "Give me your hand."
Min Yu stretched out his hand.
Huo Yao moved slightly towards the middle seat and held his wrist. She placed her index and middle fingers on his pulse and lowered her eyes slightly.
Min Yu tilted his head sideways to look at the girl beside him. She looked calm and composed with a lazy and casual air about her. Before long, the cool sensation on his wrist disappeared, and he heard her calm voice.
"It's nothing." Huo Yao withdrew her hand.
Min Yu withdrew his hand too. "Uh huh. I don't think it's a big deal either. Sorry for making you worry."
Huo Yao sat back by the door and waved her hand nonchalantly. "It's fine."
Min Yu's eyes landed on the paper bag beside her. He asked nonchalantly. "Are you going to make medicine again?"
"Something like that." Huo Yao yawned. She leaned against the car door and said in a muffled voice, "Wake me up when we reach the restaurant."
"Okay."
Zhuo Yun, who was driving in front, subconsciously slowed down when he saw this.
Huo Yao's status was even higher than his boss's in his eyes now.
Just the fact that she was a top apothecary was enough for the big families in the capital to do everything in their power to recruit her.
Zhuo Yun touched his nose and glanced at the rearview mirror. He wondered how lucky his boss was to know Huo Yao.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of the restaurant.
Min Yu turned his head sideways to look at Huo Yao. When he was about to wake her up, she had already woken up. Her peach blossom eyes were still hazy with sleep.
Huo Yao rubbed her eyes and said in a hoarse voice, "Have we arrived?"
"Yes."
Huo Yao glanced out of the window before she opened the door and got out of the car.
Not long after, the three of them went to the private room on the second floor.
After ordering, the waiter left.
Min Yu picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea for Huo Yao unhurriedly. He glanced at her. She still looked tired. "Didn't sleep well last night?"
Huo Yao leaned on the table lazily. "I'm fine. I'm adjusting my schedule."
"Miss Huo, I paid attention to your competition. You are amazing." Zhuo Yun took the opportunity to pat Huo Yao on the leg.
Huo Yao flipped her head and looked in Zhuo Yun's direction. "I guess so."
Zhuo Yun's lips twitched. She managed to get full marks just by being careless. If she got serious, would she be able to kill a bunch of straight-A students?
Huo Yao's phone rang. She pulled it out and quickly stood up. She walked to the door and answered the call. "Hi, Dad..."
Min Yu raised his eyes slightly. He picked up his cup and took a sip of tea.
