"Mom, I know what I'm doing. Don't worry. Everything will be fine," said Lu Xia gently. She paused for two seconds before she continued. "There's something strange. Mom, didn't you say that Huo Yao's grades are terrible?"
He Xiaoman closed her eyes and enjoyed her daughter's massage. After a while, she said calmly, "Yeah. What's wrong?"
Lu Xia's hands did not stop. She said tentatively, "I think she's going to No.1 Middle School."
He Xiaoman opened her eyes abruptly. She turned her body sideways and looked at Lu Xia in disbelief. "What did you say?"
Lu Xia's eyes flickered with suspicion when she saw the surprised look on her mother's face. "Huo Yanxi came to me last night to tell me that Huo Yao is going to No.1 Middle School and asked me to take care of her in private."
Lu Xia's eyes flickered. "Mom, did you and dad get help? Otherwise, how could she get into No.1 Middle School?"
"How is that possible? Given her grades, even a normal middle school might not be able to accept her, let alone No.1 Middle School. If your dad and I asked for help, wouldn't it be embarrassing for us? "sneered He Xiaoman.
"If you didn't help her, how did she get into No.1 Middle School?" asked Lu Xia curiously.
He Xiaoman's face darkened. She asked in a deep voice. "Are you sure?"
Lu Xia nodded. "Absolutely. Huo Yanxi said it himself. He wouldn't lie to me."
He Xiaoman straightened her body. After a moment of silence, she picked up her phone from the coffee table.

Huo Yao was fiddling with a bunch of antique tools when her phone suddenly rang. She paused and turned to look at it. Then she looked away and continued with what she was working on. She ignored the phone.
However, the person who was looking for her did not seem to have given up and kept ringing.
Huo Yao focused on her phone and was not distracted by it. She quickly put the extracted materials into a porcelain bottle before taking off her gloves unhurriedly.
Huo Yao's phone was still ringing. This time, she did not ignore it. She walked to the bed and picked up her phone. She was stunned when she saw the caller ID on the screen.
Her fingertips paused for a moment before she swiped on the screen. Just as the call was connected, she heard He Xiaoman's flustered and exasperated voice. "I've called you countless times. Why didn't you pick up?"
Huo Yao held the phone away from her ear. Faced with her foster mother's questioning, she replied coldly. "What is it?"
He Xiaoman's face darkened. "What kind of attitude is that?!"
Huo Yao rubbed her forehead. She did not have the time to listen to her. "If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up."
He Xiaoman knew that her adopted daughter's temperament seemed to have changed in the past year. She was so rebellious that she was like a completely different person, so she didn't say anything more.
"I don't know what tricks you used to get into No.1 Middle School, but I want to tell you that I don't want you to appear in No.1 Middle School. Your existence will only be a joke in No.1 Middle School and the Lu family."
"Other than No.1 Middle School, you can choose any other middle school in the city. Our Lu family can use our connections to get you in, and we can even pay for your tuition fees. But the condition is that you are not allowed to tell anyone that you were once a child of our Lu family!"
