Min Yu ignored the dagger-like stares on his back and went upstairs.

He had been in the hospital for the past few days and had to deal with many urgent matters.

...

By the time Huo Yao woke up, it was already dark outside. However, the lights in the room were switched on, so it was not dark.

The familiar aroma of wood filled his nose, slowly dispelling the drowsiness he had just woken up.

Huo Yao sat up in bed slowly. She raised her head and saw the man sitting in front of the computer.

The light from the desk lamp refracted on his deep face. There was a solemn and serious look in his cold and handsome face. His light-colored home clothes made him look more unapproachable. There was a sense of tranquility in the room.

Huo Yao was in a daze. She sat there quietly for a few minutes before she lifted the blanket and walked over to the computer with her bare feet on the carpet.

Min Yu raised his head when he realized that she was awake. "You're awake."

Huo Yao nodded. Her eyes glanced at the floor plan on the table as she walked over. "Are you still working on the project?"

"Uh huh. It's a little complicated." Min Yu put down the pen in his hand and stood up. He walked over to Huo Yao and raised his hand to touch her forehead. "You're still so cold."

He frowned before he went to the wardrobe and took out a jacket. Then he turned around and put it on her.

Huo Yao reached out to pull the jacket up. The thick jacket made her look even smaller and skinnier. She replied. "I should be fine in a day or two."

Compared to the last time she used that acupuncture technique, this was the fastest recovery she had ever had.

Min Yu did not ask her why she was in such a state. Instead, he asked her. "Will it affect your health?"

Huo Yao's eyes flickered. "Once I get enough rest, it won't."

Min Yu looked at her carefully but did not notice anything amiss. He merely said, "Then rest for a few more days before you go to school."

Huo Yao nodded. "Uh huh. Go ahead."

"There's no rush. Let's go downstairs for dinner." Min Yu held her cold hand. A thought suddenly crossed his mind. When they reached the door, he turned to look at her and said, "Lend me your jade pendant in a couple of days."

Huo Yao did not ask why he wanted it. She nodded and said straightforwardly, "Sure. I can give it to you now if you want it."

Min Yu smiled. "In a couple of days."

Huo Yao said, "Sure."

The two of them quickly went downstairs.

Nie Su was no longer in the living room, but there was a large bouquet of exquisitely wrapped flowers on the coffee table.

Huo Yao's eyes landed on the bouquet of flowers. She suddenly raised her brow and clicked her tongue. "You have a suitor?"

Min Yu saw the bouquet of flowers and guessed that Madam Nie must have bought it later. He paused before he shifted his gaze away from Huo Yao and looked at her carefully. "Are you jealous?"

Huo Yao pulled her hand back and pushed his face away. She laughed and said, "Stop flattering yourself."

With that, she turned and walked towards the dining room.

Min Yu tilted his head and looked at her straight back. The corners of his lips curled up. It was obvious that she didn't mean what she said.

He followed after her unhurriedly.

After they sat down at the dining table and buried their heads in their food, Min Yu said, "My mom brought it over this afternoon."

Huo Yao's hand froze before she nodded calmly. "Okay."

Min Yu raised his brow and added. "It's for her daughter-in-law."

"Yes."

She could not bring herself to eat anymore.

Huo Yao pressed her forehead with her left hand.
