Before Min Yu could speak, Old Madam Yang's voice came through the phone.
"Yaoyao, have you been busy these few days?"
Huo Yao would call Old Madam Yang at a fixed time every week and never missed a call. Old Madam Yang was a little worried when she did not receive any calls for the past two days.
"Grandma, it's Min Yu," replied Min Yu after a second of silence.
The old lady was stunned when she heard Min Yu's voice. She did not expect him to answer the phone. However, she quickly composed herself and asked him after a short conversation. "Oh yes. Where's Yaoyao?"
Min Yu raised his head to look at the person on the bed. He clenched his fists slightly and said in a normal voice, "She has been busy with a lab project. Grandma, is there something urgent? She didn't bring her phone with her because there's a signal block in the lab. "
Although Old Madam Yang did not know much about the lab project and the signal block, she roughly understood what Min Yu meant. She instantly felt less worried when she called Min Yu.
Old Madam Yang smiled. "Nothing. She used to call me around this time, but I haven't received any calls in the past two days. I'm not used to it."
Min Yu came to a realization and said, "She will call you as soon as she is done with her work."
"It's fine. It doesn't matter if she calls you back or not. Tell her to rest even if she is busy. Her health is more important..." nagged the old lady.
Min Yu stood there with the phone in his hand and listened quietly without a trace of impatience.
Old Madam Yang suddenly asked him. "Oh yes. Doesn't Yaoyao come home at night?"
Min Yu was surprised. He did not understand why Old Madam Yang would ask this. He contemplated before he replied. "She has been staying at school recently."
The smile on Old Madam Yang's face froze. "Since she is staying at school, why doesn't she have time to call? Did something happen to her? "
Old Madam Yang knew Huo Yao's personality very well.
No matter how busy she was, she would never forget to call her.
Min Yu did not expect Old Madam Yang to be so sensitive. He denied it. "No. Grandma, you are overthinking it."
"I brought up my granddaughter. I know her best." The old lady paused. "Little Min, tell me the truth. Did something happen?"
Suspicion flashed across Min Yu's eyes. The old lady sounded as though she knew something bad was going to happen to Huo Yao. He pondered over Huo Yao's situation. Even if he managed to get away with it today, he might not be able to hide it from her tomorrow.
Then he said, "She has been asleep for three days and hasn't woken up. I don't know why, but the doctors can't find out."
The old lady paused and asked, "Is her body temperature still abnormally low?"
Min Yu raised his head slightly. There was surprise in his deep eyes. "You know about this?"
Old Mrs. Han's mind was filled with memories of the past. She nodded and replied, "Actually, I don't know the reason either. It happened to her when she was three years old. She slept for five days. Her grandfather and I went to all the major hospitals in the province, but we couldn't find the cause."
Five days?
Min Yu asked again. "What happened after that?"
"Later on, we met a barefoot doctor. He said he was fine and gave us a piece of jade." Old Mrs. Tang paused before she explained, "It's the one I asked you to bring to Ah Yao."
