Chapter 1036

Report

The assistant pulled a chair over and sat down by the bed. He looked at his boss, who was lying there quietly. His face was so pale that there was no color in it at all.

Although being a lawyer was not a high-risk profession, when it came to financial cases, one had to put one's life on the line.

He had been working in this field for almost a decade, but this was the first time he had seen someone being taken away in public with a gun in their hands.

The assistant sat there and began to mutter softly. "I tried to persuade your brother not to take this case, but he insisted on it. He knew it was a trap, but he still jumped into it."

"Those people have powerful backers. How could ordinary people like us challenge their authority?"

"There are so many people seeking justice. Why did he have to do it?"

The assistant bent over and buried his head in his knees. He was truly frightened. He would never forget the feeling of having a gun pointed at his temple.

Huo Yao sat on the chair in a relaxed manner and listened to the assistant quietly. She did not say a word. Once one chose to work in this field, one had to bear all the risks.

This was the law of survival in this world.

Huo Yao composed herself when the doctor knocked on the door. She asked the assistant to take care of Tingrui before she left the ward.

The doctor handed the report to Huo Yao. "The scan shows that besides the external injuries, the patient also has some minor internal injuries. However, there are shadows in the liver, spleen, and heart. That's a little strange. I will take it for further analysis."

Huo Yao took the scan and put it back into the bag before long. She nodded and thanked the doctor.

The doctor smiled. "You're welcome. Oh yes, you specifically requested for a blood test, right? The results are fine. There might be some trace elements in the patient's blood that are higher than normal, but it won't affect his daily life."

The doctor paused before he continued. "Our hospital isn't well-equipped. If you're still worried, you can go to Sea City General Hospital for further examination when the patient gets better. They have more advanced equipment."

"Okay. Thank you." Huo Yao nodded politely.

The doctor left before long.

Huo Yao stood on the spot with her eyelashes lowered. Just as she was about to return to the ward, her phone rang in her pocket.

She took it out and pressed the answer button.

Min Yu's clear voice came through the phone. "Are you hurt?"

Huo Yao stood aside and replied softly, "No. I didn't do anything."

Min Yu's eyes were filled with helplessness when he heard this. He looked out of the tent and saw the bonfire on the ground. The flickering flames reflected in his clear eyes. It was quiet all around him.

After some time, he did not expose her. Instead, he said, "I don't have any signal here sometimes, so don't worry. Look for Yang Yi if you need anything. He can handle it. I might only be back in a few days."

"Oh." Huo Yao pursed her lips. She turned her head sideways and saw Yang Yi walking over from the corner of her eye. She said, "Fine. Have a good rest. I'm hanging up."

"Yes." Min Yu held the phone but didn't hang up. He lowered the phone from his ear and looked at the screen. The call timer was still ticking.

Ten seconds later, Min Yu sighed and said softly, "Huo Yao."

Huo Yao's face twitched as she said, "I forgot to hang up. Bye."

After that, he quickly hung up the phone.
