Report

Fang Chen opened the message and raised his head to look at Lin Shuwen. "What is it? Why are you in such a hurry?"

Lin Shuwen paused before he turned back to close the office door. "I heard from my colleagues at the Procuratorate that Mr. Huo was violently threatened at the courthouse yesterday."

Fang Chen was stunned to hear this after reading Huo Yao's message. "What?"

Lin Shuwen repeated the message.

"Did she say where he was injured?" asked Fang Chen.

"She said he was hit in the shoulder. Nothing vital was hurt, so it shouldn't be a big problem." Lin Shuwen paused. "Didn't you have dinner with him last night? He should be fine."

Fang Chen recalled that Huo Tingrui looked normal when he saw him last night and did not seem to be injured, so he heaved a sigh of relief.

A thought crossed his mind. He put down his phone and asked him. "Did you find out who did it?"

Lin Shuwen shook his head. "Not yet. I suspect someone from the court is behind this. After all, this is the capital, not some random court in a small city."

The capital was a place with strict rules, especially in the jurisdiction of the court. Huo Tingrui must have offended someone from the top for such a violent act. Otherwise, who would have the guts to do something like this in the capital?

He would have a death wish.

Fang Chen went quiet. No wonder Huo Tingrui suddenly asked him to take care of his little sister last night. He said, "Shuwen, get someone to look into it."

Huo Yao had cured his illness and even treated his teacher, so he could not sit back and do nothing.

Lin Shuwen looked at Fang Chen. "Are you going to get involved?" Fang Chen frowned. He contemplated for a moment before his brows relaxed and he nodded. "Got it."

Fang Chen glanced at him. "You don't have to be so calculative. Some relationships can't be maintained by scheming."

Lin Shuwen's eyelashes drooped, and the expression on his face didn't change much. "But sometimes, there are some landmines that really can't be touched. It hasn't been easy for you to walk this path. If you don't plot against others, then you can only be plotted against by others."

Fang Chen pressed his forehead. He did not want to continue this topic. He picked up his phone and replied to Huo Yao's text before standing up.

He took the suit jacket from the hanger next to him and put it on. "Let's go. We'll visit the teacher tonight."

"Sure." Lin Shuwen nodded respectfully before he followed behind Fang Chen.

Half an hour later, Fang Chen and Lin Shuwen arrived at Teacher Li's place.

The person who opened the door was Li Fang's wife. "Little Chen and Shuwen are here. Have you eaten?" She had a kind look on her face as she hurried the two of them in.

Fang Chen smiled and nodded. "Not yet. Is he home?"

Behind him, Lin Shuwen brought in the tonics he had bought on the way.

"Why are you so polite every time you come?" Madam Li led him into the living room. "Your teacher is at home, but we have guests today."

Fang Chen's footsteps halted slightly.

Madam Li turned her head and glanced at him before replying, "It's nothing. He's just a friend of Old Li's. He's not someone from the bureaucracy."

"Uh huh," acknowledged Fang Chen before he followed her in.

Although Fang Chen was Li Fang's student, not many people were aware of their relationship. Li Fang had lived a clean and honest life, while Fang Chen knew how to avoid arousing suspicion.
