Report

It was a fantasy book, but with a sci-fi style.

The title of the book might not stand out (Swordless Heart: What a stupid title!). But when it came to the author, many fantasy readers might remember him: the great prodigal son who wrote Yala's Adventures.

Yes, it was the four-million-word novel about an uncle who ran around the world with beautiful girls. It was well-known in the hearts of many readers, and could be said to be a fresh stream of fantasy.

But the new book by the great prodigal son was very different from the previous one, which was full of righteousness. For example, the style was much more gloomy and gray.

Some readers might not be used to it, but some readers might like the Gothic style of the post-war world.

An author who was used to writing in his original style decided to change his approach and try to innovate. This was a kind of risk, but also a kind of courage. No matter what the result was, Swordless Heart must first express his approval for this attempt. Hey, even if you don't like it, you should contribute a few clicks to my collection. Otherwise, a minority of writers like the great prodigal son would be forced by the market to write conventional novels!

Let's talk about the novel itself.

The narrative of this book is very interesting. First, it uses flashbacks to describe the legendary character Yuri at the beginning, and then introduces three interesting protagonists:

A clever and talkative crow.

The excited rose in bloody violence

She was a doubtful bisexual female leopard.

Obviously, starting with the crow, probably everyone has a bitter past. The story begins with the first encounter of the three-person team.

I believe in the skill of the characters in this book. Although there are not many words, the previous book is proof: the characters in Yala's Adventures are vivid and real, and they seem to be at your fingertips. There are very few dry paper dolls and vases.

The writing style of this novel was also okay. After all, it was written by an old writer who had written Yala with 4 million words. The writing style was smooth, and the narration was concise (compared to a novel with 1.4 million words in which the protagonist was only seven years old). There was no difficulty in reading it.

Secondly, the prodigal son's ability to change the world setting is obvious to all, as can be seen from Yala. This time, he chose a dark, gloomy, and Gothic post-war world (in fact, more of a sci-fi style), and in the beginning of the preface, he dug a big hole (the "door" to change the world?). I don't know what surprises he will give us.

As usual, I would like to talk about my shortcomings as a reader:

1. The first few chapters are long paragraphs of text, which is quite difficult to read. Fortunately, this situation improves after that.

2. The characters' personalities are too "distinct," especially the three protagonists, who are unimaginably attractive. To some extent, it has the exaggerated effect of a stage play, but impatient readers probably won't be able to immerse themselves easily.

3. The narrative technique is rather complicated, especially the flashback from the first volume to the second. From the present to the first encounter, it is easy to make people feel lost. As for whether this is the case, you can judge for yourself.

One sentence of evaluation: A refreshing old author's gothic and precious creative experiment.
