Chapter 65

Report

A thick white fog enveloped the entire Forks.

It was drizzling lightly. The weather was cold and humid, and the ground by the roadside was wet and muddy.

If one was not careful, it was easy to step on the mud.

Ébourg did not go to class at the X Academy today because today was the day Baki was discharged from the hospital.

The humid weather could not stop Ébourg's good mood. He refused Strange's suggestion to open the space door and go to the hospital. After breakfast, the two of them walked to the hospital.

Clark had left after breakfast. After all, he still needed to go back to work.

Ébourg was wearing a camel-colored cashmere coat.

He wore a gray hat on his head and a thick white scarf around his neck, covering his chin.

Ébourg put his hands in his pockets.

He walked briskly on the road. When he encountered a small puddle, he did not avoid it and directly stepped on it. The water splashed up, and a second before it touched Ébourg's body, it was pushed away by a force.

Then, it fell back again.

Strange was wearing a black coat and followed behind him with an indifferent expression.

He had one hand in his pocket and the other holding a paper bag.

He looked straight ahead.

From time to time, he controlled the muddy water to not splash on Ébourg's clothes.

Ébourg turned around.

He faced Strange.

He walked backward and asked, "When will Clark come back?"

"At night." Strange said concisely, "We have to go to work in the afternoon. James will stay at home with you."

Ébourg nodded, turned around, and turned back to walk. "Then can I walk around with Baki?"

Strange thought for a moment and said, "James has just been discharged from the hospital. I think maybe you would be willing to be considerate of him and stay at home with him to rest."

The well-behaved Ébourg did not feel Strange's magic of deception at all. He said obediently, "Okay then."

The two of them arrived early and bumped into Dr. Kalen when they were waiting for the elevator.

"Good morning." Ébourg said with a smile.

Dr. Kalen turned to look at the two of them and smiled. "Good morning."

Strange nodded at him coldly.

The elevator door opened and the three of them walked in one after another. Dr. Kalen glanced at the two of them and said, "If I remember correctly, today is the day Mr. James will be discharged from the hospital."

The smile on Ébourg's face instantly widened. "Yes, that's why we're here to pick up Baki today."

Dr. Kalen said, "I heard that you rented a house nearby. Are you planning to settle down here?"

"No." Strange stared at the rising number of the elevator. "It's just a temporary residence."

Dr. Kalen asked curiously, "Is it because of Mr. James?"

Strange frowned slightly. "That's only part of the reason."

He paused for a moment and said, "… It's mainly because Ébourg likes the environment here."

Hearing this, Dr. Kalen looked at Ébourg with a slightly surprised expression. After all, Forks was not a famous town. Its only characteristic was that it was rainy all year round, and there were only a few sunny days in a month. However, this was not an attractive point for ordinary people. And because of this reason, the people in the town had gradually begun to move out over the years.

Ébourg explained Dr. Kalen's doubts. "I like the forest here."

It was big enough, natural enough, and comfortable enough.

Ding. The elevator door slowly opened. Ébourg and Strange walked out. "Goodbye, Dr. Kalen."

Dr. Kalen nodded and smiled. "Goodbye."

Dr. Kalen watched the two of them walk toward the ward until the elevator door closed again, blocking his view.

There were three knocks on the door. Baki turned to look. The door was pushed open, and a small head poked in. After meeting Baki's eyes, a bright smile appeared. "Good morning! Baki! "

Baki was sitting on the bed with his arms behind his head. When he saw Ébourg, he put his arms down and stretched out his arms. "Good morning."

Ébourg reached out and took off his hat, threw it away, and then jumped forward into Baki's arms.

"Baki!"

Baki felt Ébourg fall into his arms. He lowered his head and saw Ébourg looking up and smiling. "I'm here to take you home!"

Baki raised his hand and rubbed Ébourg's head. The corners of his mouth were much gentler. "Thank you."

Strange caught the hat that Ébourg threw over and put the hat and the paper bag in his hand on the table expressionlessly. Then he reached out and grabbed Ébourg's scarf and pulled him over.

Ébourg was caught off guard and was pulled out of Baki's arms. "?"

Strange was expressionless. "Good morning, James."

Baki withdrew his arm naturally and nodded at him. "Good morning."

Baki lifted the quilt and wanted to get out of the bed. "I can be discharged, right?"

“Yes。” Strange turned around and helped Ébourg take off his scarf. "The paperwork is done. You can leave after you pack up."

Baki saw his actions and said, "It will be done soon. There's not much stuff. You don't have to take off the scarf."

"You haven't had breakfast yet. Have breakfast first." Ébourg picked up the paper bag on the table and held it in front of Baki as if he was presenting a treasure. His eyes sparkled as if there were a group of little stars hidden in them. "I made this myself."

Strange: "… Ha."

I'm not jealous.

Baki could not help but look surprised. He reached out and took the paper bag. After opening it, he took out two sandwiches.

Baki opened the packaging and took a look. It was the simplest cheese and ham sandwich. He took a bite and chewed a few times. He looked surprised and praised, "Wow, this tastes really good."

It was very generous.

Ébourg's eyes lit up. "I also made the fried egg inside."

Baki immediately took a big bite and gave Ébourg a thumbs-up.

Strange: "… Ha."

Baki finished the sandwich in a few bites. In a few minutes, he finished the two sandwiches.

He stood up and stretched his body. He picked up his clothes from the bedside and walked to the bathroom. "I'm going to change."

Of course, Baki had to wear a hospital gown when he was hospitalized. In order to prevent his metal arm from being discovered, Clark used the spirit stone to temporarily set up a camouflage for him. At least it would not be so eye-catching. And because Baki's wound was not on his arm, even if he changed the dressing, no one would notice anything unusual. Therefore, Baki easily covered it up these days.

When Baki changed and came out, Strange had already packed his things. There were not many things, just some toiletries.

Baki consciously went to take his things, and the three of them walked out of the hospital.

After returning home, Baki habitually walked around the entire house and began to inspect it. This was his habit.

Ébourg took a bottle of yogurt from the fridge and bit on the straw as he watched Baki carefully inspect every corner of the house.

Strange raised his hand to look at the time on his watch and went upstairs to change. A few minutes later, he came down in his Dr. Supreme uniform.

Strange said to the two of them as he tidied up his sleeves, "I'm going out for a while. I'll be back with Clark in the evening. I'll bring dinner."

Baki, who had just finished inspecting the house, nodded. "Got it."

Ébourg threw the empty bottle of yogurt into the bin and waved goodbye obediently. "See you tonight."

Strange nodded at the two of them. He raised his hand to open a portal and stepped in.

Clark finally finished writing this week's draft and handed it to the chief editor. Then, under the chief editor's rage, he took half a day off and hurried to the Sanctum.

Strange was sitting on a chair in the Sanctum, drinking black tea. Seeing Clark arrive late, he tapped the watch on his wrist unhappily and motioned for him to look at the time. "You're at least half an hour late."

"Sorry, James is not satisfied with my draft, so it took some time," Clark said hurriedly. "Shall we go now?"

Strange stood up, and the impatient expression on his face turned serious. "It's time."

At the same time, all the members of the Avengers gathered in the conference room on the top floor of the Avengers Building. On the table in the middle of them, there was a parchment card.

A string of fancy words were printed on the pale yellow parchment in gold:

Dear Avengers,

Because you seem to be a little too curious about us recently, which has caused some trouble for both of us, we will pay a personal visit this afternoon to resolve this matter.

Doctor Strange & Superman

Tony Stark twirled a pen in his hand and said slowly, "They're much more polite than I thought, but I think I'll be happier if they can send this to my mailbox instead of putting it directly on my living room table."

Hawkeye leaned back in his chair, put his legs on the table, and raised his eyebrows. "Will you see it if it's sent to your mailbox?"

Tony Stark said expressionlessly, "No, I'll throw it away."

He was still upset that his building was broken into.

Banner reached out and picked up the parchment, looked at it carefully, and said after a long time, "His handwriting is good."

"That's not the point, Bruce." Natasha reached out and took the parchment from his hand, looked at it, and then threw it back on the table. "The point is their purpose."

Tony pouted. "Isn't it written here? S.H.E.L.D.'s investigation is too public, and it makes people uncomfortable."

"S.H.E.L.D.'s investigation has been shared with us," Natasha said.

Tony said, "They want us to work for free."

"It can't be something insignificant." Captain Steve frowned. "Ever since their child was taken away by Thor last time, their attitude towards us wasn't friendly. Even after the child was found, we couldn't contact Thor to find out what was going on."

Banner paused for a moment. "Speaking of that child … Why did Thor do that?"

Hawkeye put his legs down from the table. "Actually, I'm quite curious about Superman and Doctor Strange having a child together."

His eyes were full of interest. "What about the children we have together?"

As soon as he said that, there was a buzzing sound in the air. They looked up and saw a golden portal slowly opening.

Strange stared at Hawkeye expressionlessly. "I didn't expect the Avengers to be interested in other people's family affairs."

The Avengers: "…"
