Chapter 508

Words:1644Update:22/06/17 11:16:26

Report

Argus Filch, the gatekeeper of the Hogwarts School of Magic.

Unlike the others who lived in the Hogwarts, he was a dud.

As someone who was born in a pure Wizard family and did not know how to use magic, a dud had to endure much more than a Muggle or a Mud Spawn.

This kind of growing up made him develop a very strange personality.

Others hated him, and he hated others.

In the Wizard world, duds were usually encouraged to integrate into the Muggle world. After all, in the Muggle society, they could still have a place and live a normal life.

But Argus Filch did not seem to be so lucky. He worked in the Hogwarts, a place crowded with Wizard.

Underage Wizards were more hateful than adult wizards. Their concept of good and evil had not matured, or they were not as hypocritical as adult wizards. Adult wizards would at least hide their thoughts.

Dumbledore was the one who treated him the best out of all the people he met, and would not look down on him because he was a dud. But this was not so simple, because Dumbledore always had a purpose in everything he did. Even if he did not at first, he would slowly have one later.

He looked down on those little Wizard, but he also wanted to be like them. This situation to a certain extent led to his terrible personality and his hatred of the little Wizard. His office ceiling was full of shackles and handcuffs that he had polished so that once he got permission, he could use them to punish students who broke the rules. This was his favorite thing to do.

Twisted mind?

He did not deny it.

He did not like his name, Argus. This name was as frightening and annoying as its counterpart in Greek mythology, Hyakume.

No one liked him.

Until he met Jon Smith.

That little Wizard was different from the other students. There was never curiosity or inquiry in his eyes, as if he knew everything. And, the most special thing was that he did not hate him, and was even willing to talk to him.

Filch knew very well what he looked like. His appearance was as twisted as his mentality. Every time he saw those students being scared by him, he would be very happy.

Later on, he found out about Jon's identity.

Although he was a dud, as one of Dumbledore's underlings, Filch knew a lot of things.

Jon Smith was a pureblood Wizard.

Jon Smith was a Hufflepuff.

Jon Smith was a descendant of the Hufflepuff family.

More and more shocking news was accepted by Filch, just like the gap between him and Jon.

The difference between a descendant of the greatest Wizard family and a dud was so big that it made people feel hopeless.

Filch would not despair.

That kind of emotion had long been engraved on his pie, eaten into his stomach, and then excreted. As early as when he was still a child, he had already experienced the most despairing things in the world.

Just like what he said before, no one liked him.

The reason why he was willing to work in Hogwarts was not because of how good the treatment was, nor was it because of how happy it was to work here. It was only because Dumbledore said that he needed him.

Although he knew in his heart that this was most likely a lie.

However, a legendary Wizard said that he needed him.

For Filch, nothing was more important than this.

"What a pitiful and sad life."

Sitting on the chair and listening to Jon talk about Filch's past, Cecatly sighed with emotion.

She looked at Filch, who was still lying on the deck chair in the yard, and supported her chin with her hand in boredom.

"How long is he going to stay like this?"

"I don't know."

Jon turned his head to look at the time. It had been almost twenty hours since the soul activation last night, but Filch still showed no signs of waking up.

"Maybe he's still adapting, or maybe he doesn't want to wake up at all."

Cecatly nodded. "That's understandable. If my life was so painful, I wouldn't want to wake up from my dream either."

However, she quickly said, "But if he doesn't appear in school, won't he be discovered?"

"No one will find this strange because no one pays attention to him at all. However, Naughty Ghost knows about this and came to take a look in the morning. I guess the students of Hogwarts will have a good time today. Without Naughty Ghost causing trouble and Filch secretly monitoring them, it should be very easy, right?"

"That makes sense. But have you thought about it? After becoming a Wizard, would Filch still want to continue living this life of being ostracized in Hogwarts?"

"He doesn't have a choice. I said before that because of the Magic Net, he can't leave Hogwarts. Also, you know that the growth of the Magic Net is painfully slow. It will probably take more than ten years for it to fully mature, unless it receives a huge amount of nutrients. But do you think that Dumbledore and Grindelwald will be willing to sacrifice themselves?"

"Even if they are willing, the World Will won't."

Cecatly fiddled with her hair and casually grabbed a piece of paper from the table to sketch it.

"Speaking of which, the form of the jellyfish has already been fixed, right?"

"In theory, that's correct."

Jon explained, "I don't know if you've heard of an undying jellyfish. The Magic Net's form of existence is very similar to this jellyfish."

"The Lighthouse Jellyfish? I've heard of it before, but the jellyfish itself isn't a living creature. It's just an amalgamation. "

"The Magic Net isn't a living creature either?"

Jon shrugged. "In theory, this is the most suitable form. Regardless of whether it's an amalgamation or something else, you just need to know that this form is most suitable for the Magic Net."

"Alright, you're the main designer anyway."

This nonchalant attitude made Jon feel helpless, but he was used to it. "Although it's not a living creature, at its current stage, the Magic Net needs a huge amount of nutrients and nodes. There's no other place more suitable than Hogwarts. I plan to let it grow with the students if we can survive."

"We'll definitely survive."

Cecatly became serious. "Regardless of what happens to us in the end, we have to at least believe in this."

"Yes, yes, yes, I know. It was a slip of the tongue."

In order to prevent Cecatly from continuing to lecture him, Jon decisively begged for mercy. Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly saw Filch stand up from the recliner.

Cecatly naturally saw him as well.

"What's he looking at?"

"He's probably … in a daze. After all, he needs to digest the fact that he's become a Wizard."
